Who is out in Japan, and will queue up for Super Nintendo World?

Universal Studios Japan is doing this.

We spy Princess Peach's castle one end, and Piranha Plants, Thwomps (the angry stone fellas), Goombas, Koopa shells sliding between green warp pipes, the classic bricks and mystery boxes, rotating golden coins, and mushrooms in the middle of the attraction.

On the other end, there's Bowser's castle, Ice Land, checkpoint flags, and a section with Yoshi that looks likes it's ripped straight out of Super Mario 64. Just look at those bubbly trees!

I would not recommend going at open. Not because of Covid, but because of how USJ handles new attraction openings. I would check how they allow people into the new attraction before trying to go. Harry Potter/Sesame Street was by lotto only, so buying a ticket into the park was not a guarantee you can get into that area. I am sure they will do the same. After the hype dies down it will be normal admissions, but it depends on the attraction, Harry Potter was 3~4 months, Sesame Street was like 1.5.

I'm going a year after it opens on a weekday when all the kids are in school. I'll miss out on all the cool give-aways at the start, but it's better than me being pissed off.

Looks pretty awesome, but yeah I'll wait at least a year before considering going there for it. I wish there was a DK Country section too, as that was pretty much my fav game on SNES along with Super Mario RPG.

What if they lockdown the country and you would be stuck there forever?

Anyone have any idea if this is a temporary attraction like the Resident Evil Land some number of years ago?

The last time I was at the Universal Studios in Orlando they mentioned that this was coming to that location as well. I think 2022 was the timeframe they threw out.
Going to any major theme park opening is always a huge gamble. Some (like the Star Wars section of Hollywood Studios) work out nicely because everyone thinks it will be a shitshow and they hold off. Others (like Harry Potter and the Simpsons in Universal) are a giant mess because people seem to think they're unique in loving a franchise that has raked in billions. It can be tough to have fun when you're piled in with a ton of other people all trying to do the same things. IMO, Disney does a better job with stuff like this, so I'm going to wait for things to die down if this does open in Orlando, too.

Krenum - We all know you won't be able to hear that over the dinosaurs running around.

My niece is a Nintendo fan and a Japan fan (she is actually bit of a weeb), I am sure she would be dying to get there. But then again, so am I. I have always wanted to visit Japan, might as well check that place out if I ever get there.

This would of been cool when I was 10 but honestly I am Nintendo out. Nothing from them excited me the past 10 years. I played like 3 games to finish on the Switch and it just sits there gathering dust.

A friend of mine won a trip there. Park will be closed that day so the winners would be the only ones.

I'm still gonna wait a bit.. late next year and go on a school day.

Is it me, or does it look just a tad too small...not saying its micro, just small.

Yah, it's pretty small in comparison to an entire amusement part but it's likely as big as a Disneyland Land (Adventureland, Fantasyland, etc.). Definitely not a stand alone. Still pretty impressive with the theming tho. I appreciate Universal's effort in full immersive experience.

Whoa, what kind of an awesome contest was that?

It'll be interesting to see what the US version in Orlando ends up looking like. The Harry Potter section of Universal is still a clusterfuck (well, it was pre-COVID) and they don't usually allow for the fast passes when something is new. Plus, I don't think Universal handles crowds and lines as well as they should.

A few years ago, we got a Harry Potter hotel bundle. It came with fast passes and an hour early into the Harry Potter parks...worth it. By mid afternoon, both parks were unwalkable with the crowds as your are just bunched up in a closed off 4 wall "box" for the most part.

That would absolutely be worth it. My experiences mostly were of the bunched up variety. Separate rider lines helped with the rides (at least a little), but there's a lot of cool hidden stuff in that area you need to be able to explore and see without a million other people. Oddly, I usually pray for rain. A ton of people bail with bad weather and it gives you a little breathing room and time to explore the Diagon Alley area. I've always felt the Disney parks do a better job of handling crowds. Universal doesn't really have the expansion room so they just put things wherever they'll fit - logistics be damned.

Not sure, I wasn't aware of it. It would be nice to go, but I am not itching to catch the Covid. And it turns out two friends won trips there. They don't know each other though.

Go during January - March if all possible (I know this may be hard if kids are involved)....but that is there low as kids are in school, etc...so its mostly just adults. We went during the first week of March on one of the trips and even during mid afternoon...very pleasant to walk around and enjoy. Fast pass really isnt needed as well. But with Covid hopefully coming to an end soon....I suspect they will be busy as everyone will want to get out of the house and do things.

I'm waiting for Orlando, too. The whole town is catered toward making your vacation as easy as possible. It's just way more convenient than going to a "real" city like LA. Plus, I imagine they have quite a bit more real estate, too. I have at least a couple die hard Nintendo friends who are already planning to go to Hollywood for opening day, though.

I always figured those faux-coasters with a movie screen would work well with Mario Kart. Especially the newer ones (that have some sense of speed) like the Harry Potter rides.

It's owned by Big Mouse, don't fuck with the Mouse. Nothing will ever complete in florida with the Mouse.

I'd only go if this played over a loudspeaker while in the park...

By far the least hilarious thing about nintendo. Bring back this band.

Hahaha nearly forgot about that one :D

Man I really really want to go, don’t care if it’s Hollywood or Japan, though if I could take my pick, it would be Osaka for sure. Gotta start saving..
