Horizon Zero Dawn (Official Discussion Thread)

shows as $49.99 for me...same price as Steam
I assumed that was the case. I'm in Italy, so I guess it's charging me the Euro rate of €50, but in US currency, which I've never seen any other site or online store do before. One annoying thing about being here is that there's a huge inconsistency between how sites let me choose my region and currency. Steam and CDkeys let me set my profile address to the US since I have a US mailing address still. But GOG and GMG just force me to EU pricing based on my IP, which is lame.

"Fixed that holding W when looting no longer stops registering other keys until release."

Oh thank you. That's something that's been constantly annoying me, but I never could quite figure out exactly what was going on. I just knew that sometimes when I looted an enemy my controls would get all fucked up unless I stopped moving Aloy.

Played first few hours of this with a 1650 Super @ 1080p + washed out 40" Samsung LCD TV, then shelved it to wait for better hardware. Loaded in again tonight with 3080 @ 4k + 55" LG C8 OLED + HDR. An audible "ho-lee-shit" out of me first time loading in, dog barked as well.

Been playing it since October and wow, IMO best game ever. The graphics but especially the story line, cut scenes you can zip thru and just the right mixture of open world vs in the buildings (not sure how else to say it :()

gladly would drop $70 on the upcoming sequel (and that from a PC'er who NEVER pays more than $45 for any game) but as you probably already know, it won't be on PC anytime soon (and no, I wont be buying a PS5 just to play it).

I tried the PC port but had to refund it, the frame pacing is weird no matter what settings I used, always a minor stuttering as though Gsync wasn't working even though it was. Really disappointing.

pretty sure that was fixed in patches.

Damn. I liked it (a lot even), but I dunno about it being the best game ever.

I can say it's one of the best games overall that I've ever played. Story, graphics, gameplay, etc. all really amazing.

This is my 2020 Game of The Year. I was completely surprised and caught off guard at how engaging this game is. I’ll be impatiently waiting for the Forbidden West PC port.

HZD is a perfect example of a game where no one system is perfect, but the overall experience is amazing.

must be something with your system, its not a universal issue.
more likely it's just people are not sensitive to the frame pacing inconsistencies like I am. I'm REEEEEALLY sensitive to it and can spot it a mile away when most people would be fine with it

Didn't notice any frame pacing issues on my G-Sync system. Strange.

Definitely in my top 10 games of all time.

I am looking forward to Sony porting their other exclusives as well. I love the Uncharted series.

I love the Uncharted series.

They're older, but I am hoping they polish them up and put them all on PC. I think the IP is dead anyways, didn't the developers move onto something else? Last of Us 1/2, Uncharted series, Spiderman & Horizon sequel are things I'd like on PC. Rest I'm not too interested in, but the more that come over the better.

I had stutter early on but recent patches completely fixed it.

Did you idle on the main menu and allow the shaders to completely finish generating? That would definitely be it if you didn't.

Just let it sit on the main menu for about 30 seconds and it will bring up a "shaders computing" %. You can run the game without this happening but load times, including streaming load times, suffer heavily.

Impressed they supported a port of an older game so much. Good to see it wasn't just a cash grab. Definitely will pick it up whenever I get a chance to upgrade the rig without costing a fortune. Never finished on PS4.

I might pick this up if it goes bellow $20. I always wondered how much better it would play with a mouse instead of a controller.

New patch today, but I'm reading reports of possible texture issues with it
I didn't see any issues, or notice any difference at all, honestly, when I played about 2 hours this morning. Of course the patch was mainly focused on AMD GPUs and I'm using a 1080Ti

I need to get back into this on PC. Been so busy being OCD in Death Stranding...

on sale through April 12th on Steam- $29.99...on GMG it's $26.69 (potentially lower if you have any coupon codes)

Ended up buying this, couldn't resist 50% off. Hopefully will get some time to play it soon, have so many dang games on my plate, but this one has been on my wish list for a long while.

Was wondering what the general consensus on this game was, you all talked me into it!
