Micro Center Limit 1 per household rules?

Hi there!

I had a quick question for any of you Micro Center knowledgeable people out there. Regarding the “limit 1 per household” for the new rtx3080 cards. Does the 1 per household limit apply to all 30 SERIES cards or is it per specific line/SKU of 30xx cards? For example: can I buy one 3080 and one 3070 on the same day? Or even, could I buy different brands of 30 series on the same day?

If the limit is for the entire 30series of cards, how long will I be limited? If I buy one today, when could I buy another one? Dealing with gaming teenagers on Christmas is hard parenting...

One 30x0 series per person per 30 days. Similarly one rx6x00 series and one zen 3 per person per 30 days.

Depends on the store really. Most will let you buy one leave and come back and buy another. It just stop the 1st person in line buying out everything. Mine let me buy multiple limit 1 items at once. They just ringed them up separately. It is not like they put you on a list and ban you for 30 days. Hell they kept selling to a known scalper everyday. He lines up very early every morning and buys what he can. He even lines up the day before for new hot ticket release and they keep selling to him.

Dang... I just didn't want to waste the 45 min drive. And I definitely can't buy just one or I risk a family crisis come Christmas time. It's been impossible to get anyone on the phone at the local Houston store to confirm.

If you are not there before opening more then likely they will sell out what they got.

My store (Minneapolis) just enforces the same type of card (I.E. 3080 or 3090) each month. They let me purchase a 3090 and then a 3080 about a week apart. They did check though when they rang me up. Had I tried to buy another 3090 within a month, they would have turned me away. My store is at least good about denying scalpers by preventing them from coming back and trying to double dip which I give them kudos for. I watched them turn away a known scalper that was in line.

Like vegeta535 says though - plan on arriving way before opening and getting in line for a shot at one. Both times I scored a card I was there a good 4+ hours before they opened. And you can only buy one card and/or one CPU in one purchase if they are the high demand versions.

I wish my store enforced it. Everything they have is sold out mins after opening. Last Saturday was the first time I saw stock of zen 3 CPUs. They got a bunch of 5800x and actually lasted til noon.

Houston one will take your ID down and won't let you buy another every time you buy a 3000 series, RX6000 series or Zen 3. They do exactly that, they look to see if you bought any in the last 30 days and won't let you buy anymore.

I have never been asked for my ID at MC.

No Issues ;)

I wish all microcenters did that... I have one 20 minutes from me, but they sell out almost instantly. Probably the same people lining up in the mornings too. Wish they had a queue system like eVGA so everyone gets a chance to obtain a card for personal use, not personal gain.

Thought I'd clarify: I was able to buy the two 30 cards walking in and out. But this was NOT in the morning rush of people waiting outside the store. They do indeed check and write down what you buy in those rush hour times. However, they didn't do this in the afternoon.

Nothing last til afternoon at my MC. Everything is gone at opening. Even 3090s. Only thing survived til noon was 5800x last Saturday. They got a bunch in that morning.

I wish MC was closer, the closest one is 1.5 hours away, really not worth 3 hours to come up empty handed. No way to even know what they have in stock.

My MC has 2 3090, BUT ones a waterblock model and the other in a PNY which I don't want.

Just waiting on the EVGA FTW3 Ultra or the Asus Strix 3090

Wonder if we have the same MC as I saw the same exact thing. The PNY has worse specs than the FE for $100 more... lol. I thought about it, but just not worth it at this point. I'll wait for things to settle down and stock to build.

How is that possible? Isn't FE considered the lowest top end?
Typically, but if you look it up, the PNY has lower guaranteed boost clocks than the FE. In terms of overclocking, maybe that does not matter so much if you luck out with silicon, but it is also possible they used "cheaper" components so higher clocks would be unstable.

There's actually one down in Cincinnati that's a FTW3, but I'm not driving 2hrs to end up short. It's been on their site since last night.
Yeah, even in Columbus, I will not bother till I see 5+ in stock. Likely someone has already claimed it...

Just check this morning and it looks like they have about 10+ RTX 3090 5 Asus Strix 5 MSI.

Edit: website says they have 20 of the MSI, gotta be an error LMAO
Yeah, the website shows all limited availability for me, but I see the cards now. I doubt they stocked last night and I know they had none yesterday. If by some chance they are actually in stock, they will be gone by people waiting in line long before I even debate getting out of bed... lol.

At this point, im just waiting in the evga queue for who know how long for a FTW3 Ultra unless I luck out and score one while going to MC for something else.
