I'm having this weird issue with a Lian Li Lancool Mesh II case with the front USB ports. There are only 2 ports on the top, and they are both USB 3, one is occupied by a Logitech universal receiver which I use for a trackball mouse. The problem occurs anytime I plug a USB stick in there to copy files, the mouse/cursor will move for a few seconds and then just freeze, then move... freeze etc... until I pull out the USB stick then the mouse is good again. Obviously I could rid myself of this issue by moving the receiver to the back, but what would be causing this? This happens the moment I plug any USB storage stick in the 2nd top USB, I'm not even copying files yet.

This is caused by USB3 interfering with wireless mice 2.4ghz frequency.

Put some space between your receiver and flash drive port, or just put-up with it during disk transfers.

This is why I only use wireless mice on my HTPC ( I use wired for everything else, so I don't get interference).

it has to read the disk before you can copy anything over, so that is probably the reason you get interference before copy.

Thanks, makes sense. Wasn’t even aware of the interference issues with USB 3 and 2.4ghz devices.

Had a similar issue with an intel nuc and a 1 foot usb extension cable solved the problem for the logitech unifying receiver for my m570 and mk270 keyboard.

Its caused by the 10x increase in transmission speed. You used to be transmitting in the hundreds of mhz (instead of in the thousands with USB3)
