Zen 3 Launch Availability

When will it be possible to buy a Zen 3 cpu without using a bot or paying Scalper rates?

I was able to snag a 5800X this morning from AMD directly, woot. Now just trying to figure out what motherboard to go with.

Haven't built a desktop in... 10 years.

did you talk to someone on the phone? i have a preorder i got within the first few minutes last night. im thinking of canceling it.
Just on chat with someone. I just emailed an old contact there from my photography purchases to see if I can get some extra info.

Does it reset after one day?

When they first instituted that in store limit it was one per household per month. But then it was changed to just one household so there's just a day limit. And it really is just by CC# not household cuz you can give any name.

I guess I'll go swing by after work. Doubt they will be still there by then tho.
I called just to verify the website said they still had a few 5600x which to be honest is all I need.... for now. But yeah hoping they are still there.

I was told the same thing from B&H rep. I could only select pre-order for a 5900x at like 5am this morning. They did charge my B&H card so IDK

A charge or a hold? Cause I asked them since I ordered right when it became available yesterday and they said they placed a hold until they ship...with no ETA of course

Probably a hold but it shows up on my account as pending at the moment. I'm thinking they will get more stock next week and fulfill these pre-orders soon

I sure hope so. I have nothing else right now so at this time, they are my only hope with my Asus hero arriving on Monday to sit sadly in my room lol

From the confirmation email:

Your order will be filled on a first-come-first-served basis.
Orders billed to PayPal, other digital wallets (e.g., Apple Pay or Google Pay) or non-USA addresses will be charged immediately upon checkout.

So if you didn't use the above payment methods then it could just be a hold.

I doubt they enforce it, it is likely a per receipt restriction.
I feel that the stock levels of these CPUs will keep coming so holding out for a bit is not as bad as caving to scalpers. Let them sit on them .

Is that 21% really cover xbox and playstation? Not under a diff. contract with ms and sony? TSMC doing 140k wafer a month. 21% of that is 29k wafers a month. Would take a bit of research to find yields, die sizes, and sales numbers (to estimate allocation).

Too bad they can't port Zen2 to GloFo. I would like a $120 3600
Assuming a 12 inch wafer that's about 800 chiplets per wafer, at 100% yield thats 23.5m chiplets per month. A more realist yield of 80% gives 18.8m chiplets a month. I would say that TSMC is not the bottle neck but somewhere else in the supply chain.

I think for CC, it's a hold. For Paypal, they'll take the funds right away.

I think I'm at the point where I'd pay $50 for someones time for a 5950... I'm on the B&H list but my 6900K is crying and has one foot out the door.

Thats why I think B&H is expecting another shipment next week or something or at least within the next 28 days before your statement comes in.

Anectotal internet mime, take it for what it's worth - "About 150 AMD 5600X and 5800X CPU#$%$ our microcenter today around lunch time. Yeah, those were gone in about an hour."

When newegg went live this morning.. only one combo was listed for a 5950x.. I added to cart, went through the checkout, logged in to paypal, was on last screen and clicking submit it would just refresh the page.. clicked 10 times.. same thing.. removed the combo from cart, brought up list of 5950x in stock, now there were two listed.. tried the other combo listed.. same thing it would just refresh the cart when submitting order.. removed from cart, listed 5950x stock and multiple combos were listed... ultimately it would not let me check out but then a few minutes later I got email from paypal that I was charged but no order listed on newegg.. so after a few hours still no order listed.. I chatted with newegg support about it and they said they was a problem and many people had the same thing and they were working to resolve it and my order would be confirmed and go through.. hours more go by and nothing so just talked to support again and this time they said there is no record of my order even though I was charged from paypal.. pretty frustrating.

Was going to get a 5600, showed 10+ in stock this afternoon. When I arrived in the evening they were all sold out. I was told people camped out for them.

Great to know that there was decent stock available, and that there is so much interest in them.

I was so close to grabbing a 5800X this morning, but without a new GPU in-hand, it just doesn't make sense right now. I'd have a crazy fast CPU paired with a GTX 760 for who knows how long!

I do t understand why the links to these CPU’s were so hard to find. I wasted the entire time they were in stock just trying to find the listing for them on Amazon. You still can’t search for them on Amazon.

had the same problem on newegg and amazon. Bestbuy was easy to find but the whole process sucks.

On that they totally sucked on Amazon trying to find them, I get that they launched a few minutes later to supposedly give people time to find them but that was an unnecessary additional obstacle for people. Even finding the landing page for the 30 series was ridiculous but the people with the bots already had them... There was excuses of it being an added bot protection layer, I don't believe that it was effective or needed because it hendered real buyers more.

I've had 5800X's in my cart at BB and NewEgg and tried to purchase, but I was not fast enough. I also got in on the 5800X and 5900X pre-order at B&H last night, but I doubt that will go through any time soon.

Looks like the launch day voters were wrong. I tried to get a 5900x but it sold out instantly. I was frantically lookimg through reviews of the 5800x to see how much the difference was between them and then those sold out also. Guess we are at the mercy of tsmc production line now.

I was looking at 10am, sold out everywhere.

I was poking Microcenter's web site this morning and they still had 5800X and 5600X in stock at the Chicago store after my morning meeting ended around 10am CST. The 5600X stock lasted into the afternoon.

Looking for a 5950X but haven't had any luck. I have $1000+ in Amazon gift cards ready to go on PC parts but I haven't actually been able to find anything to buy on Amazon lately, 3080s, the new 5000 series, nothing. I can't even find the product pages through search, I've had to go through other websites first to get direct links.

Hardware market is shit right now.

Just read through this thread. So many people quit at work recently, I'm working crazy hours. The CPU rush was all over hours before I got home. Hope I can nab a 5000 series at some point to go with a 6000 series vid card.

I sincerely hope all hardware releases don't become a game of retail whack-a-mole.

My theory is that this year is special. People are gearing up for a long, boring Covid-19 winter where everything is closed by buying new toys. If the vaccine thing works out we'll end up with price cuts and plenty of supply of computer parts and other toys plus a draft beer and French fry shortage.

I should have built a new rig last spring and just sat out all the fall fail launches. Oops.

after reading a ton of Zen 3 reviews today I'm still confused as to which is the better buy for gaming?...everyone says the 5900X is excellent overall but I haven't seen any detailed write ups about the single CCX on the 5800X vs the 6+6 CCX on the 5900X and what if any factor that plays in the overall performance
