here we can have some friendly competition for achieving the highest Time Spy GPU score. Overclock all you want. I chose Time Spy and not Port Royale because Time Spy is available for free here. Please make sure you are using the latest version.


We are focused on graphics score, not overall! This allows anyone with a 3090 to be competitive since CPU does not play a major role in the GPU score.

The rules are:
1. In your post, please include the score and a link to your validated result, and tell us if it is air cooling, water cooling, or extreme (AC, chiller, dry ice, LN2, hard mods, shunt mods, etc).
2. No double posting. If you would like to post a higher score than your old one, either edit your post or wait for someone else to post theirs.
3. Leaderboard will consist of top 10 scores per cooling type only.

what's the deal? Gigabyte cards aren't that good? FE is actually the better, stock for stock?

Not necessarily. He has a lower avg gpu temp, and therefore higher avg gpu clock (due to boosting higher at lower Temps).
 
They are running a 9900k and barely broke 17k, I'm guessing due to an early driver since the article is dating back to launch day.
i'm just worried that my Gigabyte in totally stock trim comparisons just isn't as good as even the FE

don't worry about it. This is just a benchmark, even slight tweaks can change the score. If you want to help me work on an optimization guide to post to the forum then you can see for yourself before everyone else :) Case in point:

what is your room temp? 63C on the GPU is chilly :D
The weather has been pretty cool this past week. My house is normally around 75-77F (24-25C) per my thermostat in the hallway, currently in the house it is around 73F (around 23C).

Sitting idle, my GPU is sitting around 27-28C. I do have two Noctua NF-A8 PWM fans (80mm) that sit directly underneath the GPU, pulling in fresh air from filtered ventilation at the bottom of the case. I just added those fans less than a week ago and they seem to help. Before the fans, my GPU would be idling above 30C but below 34C. When not under any load, the fans are running around 1,500RPMs since you can barely hear them. Above 45C, they will start to spin up slowly, reaching around 2,000RPMs at 70C. They top out at 2,200 RPMs (my monitoring tool say 2,300RPMs) but the GPU will have to get to 75C or hotter to have them reach that. That's when they start to get noisy. Below 2,000 RPMs and you won't even notice them over the GPU fan noise. And since my GPU never gets above 69C, the fans stay pretty quiet.

Now I do have a lot of other fans (8 120mm BeQuiet! SilentWings 3 fans) in the case which all adjust their speed based on temp. So the overall case does get louder under load, but it is just a bunch of air movement I hear, so I don't consider it noisy. Plus, right next to it is a 13" x 13" x 24" air purifier that runs 24/7. It's all more white noise than anything else.

I forgot to add that I see that your average GPU temp is 62C and look to be running an overclock or increased power limit. So what's your secret?

that's an impressive score for stock, damn. Airflow makes a big difference I think, fresh supply of air keeps it from heatsoaking.

wow, that's impressive... you're 3090-class on a 3080.... how?
they aren't that different in terms of gaming performance. A well overclocking 3080 probably is on par with a bad bin 3090.

and your bios is basically the gaming OC bios. They have same ratings, perhaps different fan curves. 370w target power, thats 20w more than founders.
 
so my gigabyte could draw a max of 390W, but a FE can maybe do 648 - 675W !?
 
A lot of these timespy scores is down to the CPU you are using. If you want to really compare scores we should just be talking the GPU portion of the score.

where did you hear that? FE bios is limited to 400w.
just compared the BIOS defined limits...

Mine:
Board power limit Target: 370.0 W Limit: 390.0 W

FE:
Board power limit Target: 350.0 W Limit: 400.0 W

... theoertically in stock form my card ought to be faster or not? or at least potentially faster without all default profiles and sliders?

There are different factors. They use different pcbs. The gigabyte might be more wasteful of power in some way. Could be as simple as fans that use more power. For every watt the fans use, that's a watt the GPU can't use (assuming you are power limiting). But if you keep the card cool and the fans and board components don't use more power, in theory you should be able to clock up into higher boost bins than a card with a lower power limit. But thst also comes down to the quality of the individual gpu die. So... Lot of variables.
