The [H] RTX 3080 owners thread.

Absolutely none so far. It has a big backplate and reinforced heatsink by the looks.
I did not have sagging but I could see the stress my gigabyte was putting on the pci slot so I tried to futureproof any possible issues there. You may move your card slightly to see how much stress you have on yours.

My Asus Rampage motherboard has reinforced PCI-e slots, there's no sagging at least not yet anyway. But there's no argument, the graphics card is very well built and heavy to match.

I did some undervolting the past few days and managed to come up with some useful numbers in regards to stability.

My setup is a 9900k running 5ghz at 1.28V and an air cooled 3080 FTW3 running at 100% fan. Ran a lap of Port Royal for all voltages. Ambient is roughly 25C.
I tested from 0.850v to 0.975v. Stopped at 0.975v due to throttling.

Stock voltage results at +118% PT, ambient 25C:
1.081v (throttled down to 1.068) 1980core (throttled down to 1950) +0mem 70C (Core boosts to 1980 with updated BIOS at 118% PT)
1.081v (throttled down to 1.043) 2130core (throttled down to 2070) +500 mem 74C

Undervolting results at 118% PT, ambient 25C:
0.850v 1950core +500mem 58C
0.875v 1995core +500mem 58C
0.900v 2010core +500mem 59C
0.925v 2015core +500mem 60C
0.950v 2025core +500mem 62C
0.975v 2055core +500mem 68C, drops to 2044core due to throttling

Bonus:
Running SOTR at stock 1.081v I was pushing 80C with 1.081v 2130core 500mem.
Running SOTR with 0.900v I was pushing 64C with 2010core and 500mem.

Bottom line:
- I love the drop in temps for gaming, +15C. I didn't even bother checking the drop in value of FPS because I was so keen on the temps (I'm guessing 4-5fps?)
- Looking forward to receiving my Optimus FTW3 block to get this sucker under water so I can test 1.0v and above without throttling. I'm hoping to hit 2100core 500mem at 1.025v while keeping the GPU temps in the 40s.

Those Optimus FTW3 blocks are nice but they're not $300+ nice IMO. There is going to be a Heatkiller FTW3 block in a month or two. Will probably perform well and at a fraction of the cost.

Yes, they are definitely overpriced. 300USD on the dot for the nickel and XL heatsink option would be acceptable for me, with the copper and non-xl option being 240 or so.

I am dissapointed that I opted for the Optimus, paying 370USD. I considered the premium when realizing it may be the only block available when Cyberpunk drops.

I hear the heatkiller will be mid to late December, unfortunately.

Just got a notification from EVGA for; EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 XC3 ULTRA GAMING, 10G-P5-3885-KR, 10GB GDDR6X, iCX3 Cooling, ARGB LED, Metal Backplate (10G-P5-3885-KR)

Installed the new 3080 today.. fired it up and ran a benchmark. My UPS freaked. It's rated for 400 watts and the GPU is using about 350. Lovely.

Have a 900 watt UPS on the way, so a couple days of using the wall outlet.

Thanks for reminding me I will most likely run into the same issue once and if EVER I'll be able to buy 3080.

What was your sign up time?

Was lucky to score an eVga Ultra RTX 3080 this morning at Microcenter, only on they got it, was $769.

I have a 34" Acer Predator monitor 3440 x 1440 res. I play Doom Eternal, World of Warcraft, little Destiny 2.

But hot damn this car gets hot, I had to take my side case panel off, felt like I good fry an egg on it.

Hi can i join the club? Amazon just dropped some Strix 3080 OCs and I couldn’t resist. They actually notified me via email at least 5 minutes before the bots caught on so i had time to tell others in a discord I’m in and three of them got one too so i feel good about that.

I’ll likely still buy a 6900 XT and then keep which one I like best.

That's a bonus feature... Free space heater with each purchase. There is a way to make it alittle better, these cards undervolt well. You will save 80+ watts and the heat that goes along with that without losing too much performance compared to stock.

Received my EVGA queue notification Thursday evening for a 3080 FTW3 Ultra. I ordered immediately and it shipped out yesterday. I signed up on 9/17 at 9:01 AM PST.

Scored a 3090 ftw3 ultra yesterday. Offering xc3 ultra 3090 to fellow h first locally at cost, not profit, if no takers, I may be open to us h members too.

So this is the card I bought;

https://www.microcenter.com/product...-triple-fan-10gb-gddr6x-pcie-40-graphics-card

Seriously this thing gets ultra hot while gaming. It blows the hot air out the top of the card, not through the back of the case.

My side case panel felt like a frying pan, was not just warm to the touch, was freaking HOT. I took the panel off which seemed to help a lot to vent that air.

But I don't want to have my side case panel off all the time. What options do I have? Do I need a different case with better air flow or bigger side panel area to allow more space?

My case is the my old school classic Cooler Master all aluminum from like 15 years ago, but she's a beauty and perfect amazing looking quality. But maybe I need to go to the newer type of case that's larger with more air flow?

A couple pics of the case would help. These cards will defintely let you know if you have terrible air flow. Or Case model with fan location and direction the fans are moving air.

Is your power supply blowing air into the case ? Even if it is I don't see it causing that much of an issue. I see the 2 lower fans are unobstructed so you are already better than most median newer cases. If you went with a High air flow case I would change the CPU cooler to an AIO also as its radiating heat on to the gpu.

Do I have my PSU installed upside down? I don't think so. It would'nt fit or sit right the other way.

The question wasn't about it being mounted wrong, just the older styles placing them on the top did blow down inside the case. Its adding alittle more heat but not a enough to cause a problem. What are the temps you are seeing case closed and running a game ? CPU is still the 9700 in your signature ?

Not sure, is there a program I can download to let me know the GPU temp? I just know with the case closed, the space between the video card and side panel is not much;

Yeah, afterburner by MSI will give you an overlay you can enable that will let you see the FPS and Temp of the GPU, EVGA precision Tune should also and would control the rgb in the card.(Make sure you grab the new version of Precision x1, that one will control the leds and do oc scan on the 30 series )

CPU seems to be idling around 26 C. Let's see while gaming?

I had my GTX 1070 in this case for over a year, and don't ever recall the case or anything getting super hot before.

Pics of the case setup;
Please do not take this the wrong way... but I think it is time to replace that fugly case from 90s.... There are so many $100-$150 nice looking modern cases... that would offer not only much nicer looks but airflow and installation capabilities.

That's because it didn't get that hot. There is no comparison the 30 series are the worse since Fermi on power usage and heat generation. I like the performance increase but admit its a terribly inefficient design.

It's all good, I actually refurbished this case cleaned up last year from sitting at my Mom's house from a decade + ago, because I liked it so much from years ago, but yeah I should get a larger better airflow case.

Whats a cool looking case with great airfow? I like the look of those Phantek Evolv cases

I'm not seeing this being an airflow issue. I think we need to make sure we know what he's getting in comparison to what's expected for this gen of card. Will a high airflow case make a huge difference maybe not if his numbers are pretty close to what others are getting.

What drives are you wanting to use? I see couple optical drives up top and one hdd.

Even physically touching the card when idling while I'm browsing online, the heatsinks are pretty warm to hot, yeah not hot air coming out or nothing bad now, when I'm not gaming, but the touch to the card it's hot for sure just sitting there.

But I will say the card performed so well gaming last night in various games. Doom Eternal Ultra max settings playing at 3440 x 1440 res 120hz, game looked amazing and smooth butter. Played Destiny 2, same thing, maxed out graphics settings, and played so fast and fluid.

I'm a big World of Warcraft player, and for some reaosn the GPU didn;t seem to get fryng pan hot with WoW

like this
only drives i need are my SSD just two at 500GB each
I would go with a Phanteks p400a or p500a since you seem to not have an issue with little bit larger case. Place 3 fans in the front and you should be good.

What do I do in the meantime with the current case? Just keep the side pane off until I by a new case?
