Radeon 6000 series speculation

I don't think 50 bucks with their feature set is enough to sway people at $649 for the 6800xt. At the high end, kinda seems like they're crushing the 3090. Why wouldn't people buy a 3070 if the base 6800 is $579, makes no sense?
Its better than a 3070 from what I saw. 3070 was 2080ti equivalent. The 6800 was 20% more performance? Maybe I'm wrong.

I don't really understand the high pricing on the 6800 unless they know that the 3070 isn't going to keep up with it like Nvidia says. But 6800 XT on water here I come.. I'm guessing shit should have some OC head room VS Nvidia.

The 6800 has 2x the memory buffer and looks like better performance over the 2080ti, so better than 3070 in terms of raster. Not saying I agree but that's the logic I'd guess.

Unless you're interested a top tier card I'm not really seeing much value vs. nvidia.
I thought that too but the 6800 will be faster than the 3070. They could put out a 6700 xt for that level. As I said before when you can compete you can put the products wherever you need them to be.

Its faster than the 3070 but more than 10%. Why would it be priced at $500? AMD always delivered cards that are close in performance and pricing.

The best part is I hope people are stuck with those 3080 and 3090 they were trying to scalpe.
Yes. Considering all the refreshing I did on launch day. Good riddance. Having said that they haven't launched yet. We shall see what availability is like.

the 6800 has SAM on, makes up the few percent. It's basically a 2080 ti + a few percent... not nuts about it

Yea I'm not even considering it anymore. If the 3080Ti comes out at $900 I might grab it only because I'm on a g-sync display. Considering buying a freesync one if these numbers are true and picking up the 6900XT.
No kidding! I am looking up freesync monitors now...

For development work it still has a niche with all of that memory.
That may be true, but I think most of us are gamers here. And my 1080 doesn't even use all its vram (8GB) no matter what I play, maxed out, so I think 16GB is plenty.

Agreed, after watching this I am still after the 3080.
I think a 3070 Ti and 3080 Ti would be the nail in the coffin here. AMD's only advantage would be 4-6 GB ram.

Man, couple months once stock starts hitting shelves, what a time to build a PC.

Should of been $599 but oh well.
Could have...
Should have...
Would have...

Didn't.

But, yeah, I would have -preferred- a lower price, but they're offering similar/better rasterized performance for a lower price than Nvidia.

I'm sure the AIBs will add $50 on top of these numbers, as well.

Still competitive. (Of course, waiting to see what Ray Tracing brings and whether or not that's important to each consumer...)

(Of course, wondering when the 6700, 6600, and 6500 series get announced.)

Just remember a couple of weeks ago we questioned whether AMD would even compete with the 3080, then the 3090. Now we know that basically they are competing in every segment from halo on down. Ti's are going to matter this time. Where are they going to be placed? I think AMD gave a small discount for the 3080 equivalent and massive one for the halo card. That's good enough and fair considering how many people were willing to pay $200+ over MSRP for a 3080 only minutes ago.

Why is everyone so hung up on TI models....Nvidia cant even get out 3080/3090's right now? I think the last thing Nvidia is worried about is new models, they need to get out current models ASAP. There are still quite a few people on the Gsync Nvidia ecosystem who want those cards regardless of what AMD has. Nvidia knows this!

Sorry that should have been Ti's won't matter this time unless Nvidia does a price cut.

looks like im upgrading to 6800 either way. I currently have a 1080 but have 2 freesync monitors. so very happy amd is finally able to compete on gpu side again.

I'm glad the Samsung G9 supports both Gsync and Freesync. Probably going to go with the 6800xt. I wish they'd release it on 11/5 with the Ryzen 5000 stuff.

How long has it been since AMD truly competed at the top end of the performance spectrum? HD 5870's?

Yea about 10 years, 15 since ATI was on top. My mind is blown that this is happening. Good for AMD though, we need competition, prices have been getting out of control.

HD7000 was good and launched before Kepler, so AMD had the crown for a bit. Also arguably aged better than Kepler. R9 290 was a monster, but hot and lots of power, and fury was arguably competitive if mispriced with too little memory and too much power consumption.

no RT performance numbers which is odd. If they were crushing NV on RT as well, you'd think they would show that... nevertheless I will grab the 6800xt but would be nice to have seen some RT numbers.

I went from crossfired 5870's 2gb to a 7970. When the 7970 finally died I went to a 280x and picked up a 5700xt about 6 months ago. I'm happy they are actually competing on the top tier again. I have zero plans to every buy another nvidia card if I have other options. Just prefer AMD.

Will wait for more reviews, but glad AMD has put out a card that will probably bring NVIDIA out of its comfort zone.
