Radeon 6000 series speculation

I'll ask a question I put in another thread.

After two years of turing, which of these games makes DLSS a must have.

Fortnite
Death Stranding
F1 2020
Final Fantasy XV
Anthem
Battlefield V
Monster Hunter: World
Shadow of the Tomb Raider
Metro Exodus
Control
Deliver Us The Moon
Wolfenstein Youngblood
Bright Memory
Mechwarrior V: Mercenaries

Finally, someone who gets it. We've had two years of empty promises about Turing, and have a handful of games that use the technology to show for it.

I don't know is this fake or not:

Wow. Um yeah if this is correct and this is the 6800 then this would be why Nvidia rushed everything out the door so quickly. If AMD is competitive at the top end then there's no where Nvidia can go. AMD can pretty much have an answer at every price point.

Something with 500W for 5-10% more performance ? :)
Because at moment I don't thing that they can do something different.
After some months - yeah, but not now.
Nvidia real problem is Samsung. That's a huge change to where you get something equivalent to asking Tesla to build desiel engines. They are smart enough to do so but not the best option because their priorities are on something else.

i'm really curious what amd wants, do they want profits or mind/market share more. Say the leaks are correct and 6080 is roughly 5% faster then a 3080, if they wanted to put the screws to nvidia, why not launch 6080 at 550-600 and 6070 at 400-450? The thing is, this does lower their profits but their mind/market share would skyrocket because it would seriously expose nvidia for being greedy as hell (which they are).

They'll be within $50 of the competing Nvidia product. $649 is my prediction for a 6800.

I think Nvidia was trying to make Cyberpunk 2077 that game. However, I wonder if the delays are the result of that?

I agree that Nvidia is going to try to throw Samsung under the bus. I don't think Samsung is the problem though. Their foundries are pretty good all things considered. AMD has already been in talks for post 5000 series CPUs on Samsung last I heard.

Trust me, I know. I've been hearing, "BUT CYBERPUNK 2077!!!!!" since E3 2019 every time I dared to bring up the lack of value of RTX features.

oh i agree, i think it will be 649 as well but if they really wanted to put insane pressure on nvidia, why not do 550 or 600? Nvidia cannot match that since they would be losing money on their chips. I'm assuming amd would still be profitable at that price of course.

Ideally - both. As long as they can launch a physical product that competes, win. AMD will lean on VRR (variable refresh rate) and VRS (varable rate shading) to do the job. These are real meaningful features that will bring 4k / 8k into the mainstream. I can't wait to see this technology in action.

LOL at $550 they really wouldn't be able to keep it in stock. It would be pointless to do so. OK maybe not pointless but that's giving up a lot of profit. I can't see them doing that.

Nvidia historically has higher margins than AMD. Nvidia could lower the price and still make money, but they'd be pushing their margins into territory they don't like.

At this point, all they have to do is launch a card with some semblance of real stock and drivers that work. That's how bad Nvidia screwed up the Ampere launch.

But given the amount of dies they get per wafer and that expensive cooler I doubt there's much room.

There's a reason you don't see very many FE cards out there. If they are forced to drop prices to be competitive, they will be even more non-existent than they are now.

If all people made purchase decisions based on how "greedy" a company was when pricing their product, there would be companies going bankrupt left and right at a rate that makes the current number of failed business due to COVID look small in comparison.

Most people don't give a crap about what motivates the company to create their pricing strategy.

What motivates them? No. But if the product is worth it or not? Most definitely. However, if a person feels insulted by the price that affects mind share and the perceived strength of the products.

Then where are the chips? Is Nvidia holding back stock to counter AMD? The unknown is making Nv consider the earliest refresh since the 480 to 580 series.

If you're going to do a hard launch - u need to build stock up for a month or more. Nvdia had to know there were issues ahead of time and or were going to do a paper / semi-paper launch anyways. Do you reawlly think Nv predicted video card sales in the tens for the 3k series? They blew it and knew it all along.

Lisa, if you're reading this, IGNORE the previous price numbers. Those guys don't get it. What you need to do is GUT Nvidia. Yeah, it'll take balls, but you did it with Zen.

What am I advising? (And, you're a great CEO to take advice like this. But you know that.)

6800XT at $450.

Jensen will stroke out. AMD will gain mindshare, marketshare, and fucknvidiashare. Do it.

Margins are not like Apple, they do need to make some revenue.

I don't get the whole watch me stream the stream thing that goes on. If I wanted someone to talk over the entire friggin presentation I would ask my wife to sit down and watch it with me.

I hate that, I didnt come for your commentary or to see a res'd down stream with you that makes you money. Thanks for putting the direct link.

I just told my wife gleefully that it's starting now. She said she's going to start doing schoolwork with our kids.
The video card is going to be for her computer. pfft.

Looking forward to reviews on this card, seems they will give Nvidia a run for their money.

6900XT trades blows with 3090 for $999

Guessing people stop botting the Nvidia cards.

Could definitely be trouble for Nvidia, and makes sense with the rumblings with Nvidia rushing to launch Ti skus.

AMD is finally launching a flagship card, at LESS TDP AND a lower price.

Wow, color me impressed.

im really impressed with the 6800xt numbers. i hope they have better distribution/control for their release!

I'll wait for the reviews...but I'm in.
I'm sure ampere will still take the win in RT titles as AMD did not post any RT numbers lol. But they've been rather honest about the performance of most recent products (5700xt, zen 2 etc)

I don't think 50 bucks with their feature set is enough to sway people at $649 for the 6800xt. At the high end, kinda seems like they're crushing the 3090. Why wouldn't people buy a 3070 if the base 6800 is $579, makes no sense? It's clearly beating a 2080 ti, but not by much. Pretty meh overall honestly. Unless you're interested a top tier card I'm not really seeing much value vs. nvidia.
