I’m super interested in getting a 3070 on launch day. Wondering if y’all think there will be many available on launch day?

I don’t think it’s physically possible for them to stock enough for the demand.

Haha for real. I Best Buy has it listed for $500 but I’ve got a feeling it won’t actually show up at that price. This is the first time I’ve tried to get a card on launch day.
Any suggestions to get maximizing the changes of getting one?

You could camp out in front of a Microcenter for 2 days like the super nerds do...Although that doesn't sound fun, unless there's beer, BBQ and titties present. Which is highly unlikely.

I expect Best Buy will sell the cards for MSRP. So $500 for the RTX 3070 Founders Edition. Actually getting one... that's a whole different story. NV just hasn't make enough chips to meet the demand. From what I've seen in the press Best Buy is going to be selling the 3xxx Founders Edition cards from here on out at least in the US. NV recently announced they were discontinuing direct sales due to "customer feedback" or something like that. I think really they just don't have the systems in place to deal with the demand and frequency of F5 pressing they're seeing so they're outsourcing it to a company that can handle all the reloads and do the shipping too.

If we're lucky AMD will take some of the pressure off. The "Big Navi"/RX 6000 launch is the day after the 3070 launch. That's not so good for getting a 3070 on launch day, but hopefully AMD & their board building partners saw what was happening to NV and made as many cards as they could.

There were 2060 and 2070 earlier on Amazon and BB. Decided to rent a 2070 s from BB just in case it does take them till jan to get a 3xxx in my hands, have the 10% off birthday month on a couple of accounts but nothing to use it on
thanks to Nv and BB, so 449 plus tax is the deposit I paid. Amazon had a used like new gigabyte 2070 non S for 367 which is a decent deal in and off itself.. doubtful my 2060 KO step up comes before the return period is over in 2 weeks. Still hoping I get something permanent by end of month but figured a 2070s is a much better mate to my 38 UW than the 2060.

I think many folks are now buying backups for holidays given what we have seen so far, esp folks who let their 2080/tis go early and cheap into the Ampere hypetrain.

In a normal year I would not have bothered with a backup but this is 2020 and for all we know thanks to sneaker bots, a whole army of bots and at home folks think GPUs are the new dumbbell/TP so this may take a while.

3070 cards are going to be more popular then the 3080/3090...so little chance there will be enough stock...although it's better to wait for the 3070 16GB cards...8GB VRAM is on the low end

I’m looking for something to pair with my i9 9900 and valve index. I too am renting a 2060 Ko from BB looking for something permanent or at least smooth enough to play half life alyx. My current setup (i5 3570 8gb ram) seems to be the limiting factor.

Man I can’t even find a 2070 at BB!

I can’t find that 2070 on Amazon. Doesn’t seem like too bad of a deal. I found a rt580 on the forums for like 130. Do y’all think that would be good enough for now? If you find that 2070 on Amazon care to share?

When do you expect we’ll get those?

I canceled the order once I got my 2070s in from BB, they even had the 2080s available tonight (recovering from surgery is a bitch was up all tonight lol), should show up under warehouse deals later today I think.it is the windforce 2x. I really hope I can snag a 3080 or 3070 soon, while this has been a good post op distraction, can't be doing this once back at work.

There are sure to be titties in such a line, though you may be disappointed if you were hoping they’d be female.

Being an Nvidia fan, I am in the wait and see after Navi launch. If Navi is as strong as being rumored about, they have a better chance of being in stock than the 30 series, do to TSMC's matured 7nm and Apple not sharing that node since they are on 5nm. I have a better feeling about Navi and Lisa Su's direction for AMD with this launch rather than past launches. She has lived up to the hype with Zen. This could be a banner quarter for AMD with Zen3 and Navi.

They are going to do well without a doubt. Zen 3 is going in my box.

History is the best predictor of future behavior... I suspect the 3070 will be near impossible to get due to bots and demand. Even with Nvidia stockpiling for launch, I doubt anything will go different from the 3080 launch.

:ROFLMAO: I was scrolling through this thread and was going to post that exact same thing if somebody hadn't beaten me to it.

Well, there's a rumor that 3070 will have a massive stock because AMD will have their cards out at about the same time.

I would camp out at Microcenter for two out of three of those things. Like titties and BBQ or titties and beer.

“Hey man did you get a card?”
No, but them titties tho...

I hate can i get a video card on launch day questions. Dude give it up please. This goes around and around every 2 years. They limit stock to drive up prices. Then the Bots. Then You have the a world full of people like you that just want to hit F5 for 12 hours a day because they have nothing better to do or don't have a life or over night the video card they have just shuts don't and can't play games any more. Add 60 days to what ever the "launch date is and that is when you can really buy the card. It will be the same 2/4/6/8/10 + years from now After that when cards get so powerful that you don't "need" to get a new one every 2 years then you might be able to get one 30 days after launch.

Dang bro relax. You don’t know me. No need to go crapping on my thread. We can all do without the extra attitude. The second half of your post is actually valid.

Yes, I think the rumor said 'boatloads' of 3070s will be in stock late October or early November. We will see if that's the case.

One thing you could do?

Create a new online identity. Make sure you call yourself something "bot".
Go to an online purchase site. When it throws up the captcha with "prove you're human," keep failing it.

Good. Now you're in as a bot. You'll get first dibs. (At least, that's how I hear it happened with 3080/3090 stock.) /s

;)

Seriously, it'll take time, early planning and arriving, and a bit of luck.

Pc and gaming hardware is in retard demand right now. Those cards will be gone in seconds. Just like the 3080 launch. The only way normal users are going to get one is wait until Jan Feb until the rush dies down. Too many people not knowing what to do at home scooping this stuff up. And bots and scalpers. Good luck to you guys.

Interesting thing is that the inventories better be in surplus for AMD and NVIDIA if they expect to make money for the two busiest shopping periods of the year.

I cannot see either losing money by not being fully stocked for Thanksgiving and Xmas.

Do you think what is available will actually sell for the msrp?

Only the 100 or so FE cards on Nvidia site or whatever site handles them now in the US, good luck to all trying to get holds on one! Wonder if we europeans even get chance to grab one, they took the RTX 3080 and 3090 down for now...

The cheapest non FE card I expect to be +$50 (which will be worse quality than FE cards anyways) and the average card around 70-$100 expensier.

If I'd grab a 3070 I want the 3070 FE card only, it's either that or none. But I don't mind picking up a RDNA2 card either, in fact I hope AMD will have a decent alternative (similar performance, decent ratraying and actual availability) so it'll be much easier to decide to go the AMD route.

interesting about the FE cards. I always had the opposite thought process. Not grounded in facts just what my perception is.

best buy is listing about 6 versions of 3070s on their site right now so you can see some of the options before tomorrows release. Pricing isn't too bad for the AIB cards.

where are you guys planning to order from? no tax on nvidia, bh photo, or newegg for me.

What time again? 9am? I wonder if microcenter is going to pull a douche move again and open at 5am and sell out before they open the doors at 10. I have a 2070 super that I am stepping up to a 3080 with. Would be nice to go shopping though.

If more people are in line than cards there isn't really a reason for them to wait. You wouldn't get one if they did.
