Yes but the AMD GPUs released for years (until 2017) after the PS4 and Xbox One launch were GCN-based on PC as well. Those GPUs didn’t offer better performance than what Nvidia offered for console port games despite being the same architecture. So why would it be any different this generation?
I don't know but when was the last time Nvidia released a high end card at a good value? The RTX 3080 comes out aggressively priced at $699. Just do the math on the price for cores and memory you get vs the 20series launch aka 2080 . AMD teased good performance at 4k so I dunno maybe thats whats different?

You’re arguing two different things here. I’m not saying AMD’s Big Navi won’t be competitive to Nvidia.

I was simply counter-arguing that historically I haven’t seen instances where having the same GPU architecture as current consoles has shown advantages to their performance on PC over competitors whose architecture differs from those in consoles.

My Amazon EVGA XC3 (ordered 9/28) ship date was moved from today, 10/15, to 10/25. I wonder if they are going by any actual info on a shipment or they just blindly put another date. Guess I'll see here in about a week.
3080 or 3090? My 9/22 3080 XC3 still shows no delivery date. Originally scheduled for 10/16.

Been following this for a bit, got in on the Discord channel. Wondering if there's any tracking for Best Buy or does Discord include BB? Really wanting a 3080 FE, I know a pipe dream right now.

Best Buy just got a few SKUs in stock. They have some new system that asks you to wait for the Add to Cart button to be enabled.

I was able to get a 3080 into my cart but no luck on a 3090 FE.

huge drop at best buy at 10/15 2:00PM CST, 3080 and 3090 cards. I hit add to cart the second it became available, nothing. waited until button came back yellow, hit it, and nothing.

I was hitting Add to Cart from the first second and nothing. Fuck Best Buy, now they are artificially limiting the amount of times you can try to add to cart, and even if you got there first people who came in later might get cards while you get fucked.

I got a Vision in my cart but it never worked to be able to check out.

You don't even have to be first on these drops, you just have to randomly get lucky with the timing. Lame.

So basically if you press the button at the wrong time, fuck you. Also in the ~5 minutes I was trying the button changed back maybe once? That's too fucking late to get a card at that point.

I had add to cart show up 3 times for me, hit it and told me it was not added because it was no longer available. annoying.

Same. I literally was at my desk watching the icon switch from grey to yellow to Add to Cart. A second later I hit the button and it was already saying "not available". Doesn't seem to matter how fast you are, insta-bots are faster.

Gotta keep spamming it ;)

That's the thing. Do I REALLY want to just sit here at my desk for the next few hours spamming a button? I think I'm about to give up on this until 2021. Got better things to do with my life.

I pretty much gave up on it - but if it is lit up it’s only for about ten minutes.

Also using the saved item list is way better (loads faster) than using the normal page. That’s how I got a 3090.

I've tried spamming the mobile app and the website, both before and after the cart changes they made. Never worked for me, never could even get a card in-cart.

With Big Navi just 2 weeks away, I'm surprised people are still anxiously trying to spam key a 3080 and worst yet, they don't even care which one it is, as long as it's a 3080. It's a pretty crazy mentality to have, there's dudes that have been sitting in these discords since launch and they wait day and night hoping for a tiny taste of a 3080. I hope there's never a food shortage in the US, people will literally start eating each other like zombies if this is any indicator.

Did you not see what happened with toilet paper earlier this year?

earlier this year.. still oos of paper towels and toilet paper half the time.. have not been able to get Bounty paper towels in like a month, always oos. Now its all really shitty small single roll ones they are stocking shelves with. Lysol cleaner and disenfectant spray have been nearly perma oos too.. tough times! :)

I would be curious to know the ages of people doing that. I suspect it's people under 35. A grown ass man/woman is not going to waste his/her time doing this silliness. He/She will try for a few then just wait it out until stock becomes readily available.

Yeah I saw how pathetic that was but this is even more so IMO since it's just a luxury item that isn't even needed. People claim they're quarantined and this is all they have, well they could fall back on a 2080/2080 ti if they're so hard up, this is just some weird FOMO sickness.

You'd be surprised, I've seen guys in their mid 30s to early 40s camping in these discords.

Edit: I jumped in there and did a quick age check, here's a small sample from some of the guys camping there...

They're likely just trying to resell them. Easy $1k+ profit if you grab a 3090.

It's not Step-Up, it's the Auto Notify queue. You can see if/when you signed up after logging into your account here: https://www.evga.com/community/myNotifies.asp

There's an unofficial spreadsheet tracking emails here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...aring&pru=AAABdS1DzgM*WcUoa5WmtDsxCV7oBGYrOA#

EDIT: Apparently some emails went out for FTW3 Ultra 3090s today.

LOL at the lack of 3080 XC3 cards that have been mailed out. Pretty much FTW or you don't get a card.

Edit: I say that because the XC3 is an inch shorter than the FTW, and I'm looking for a sub ~12" card.

I am just gonna rent a few cards from retailers during the holiday season, since they don't give a damn f about us, screw 'em!

We've been taught our whole lives persistence pays off, and frankly -- generally that's very true. I'm 41, have four kids, and embarrassingly I've probably spent 30+ hours trying to get a card.
Persistence failed me here.

Last night I gave up. I bought a 1080TI used from facebook so I could put my gaming PC back in business. It's been down for over a month now. I'd rather game than watch freaking discord chat and distill IO alerts in my free time.

Like you say - I have WAY better things to do than this, and if time is money I should have just bought a $1500 scalped card and been done with it. I am paid well, work in IT, and could have afforded the extra adopterr fee - but it was one of those things - I can do this if I put the time in. It'll happen next drop for sure.......next time....next time.

Logged into six sites, watching the clock click down on anticipated/scheduled drops. Installing and managing alerts. It can happen - if I try hard enough? right? Wrong. I've never been thwarted on any IT purchase before. If I want to be an early adopter I've always gotten the worm (Xbox 360, PS3, Vega, many different cards for crypto mining). Not this time. Nada...

I'm waiting for the dust to settle before I engage again. And like those above -- the longer it takes to get one, the more likely I am to sit it out this round.

I have a Xbox Series X pre-order in. When that arrives I'll spend some time there with my other buddies who got one, and my kids will want to play co-op there. This 1080TI FTW 3 I picked up for $325 used might just become a keeper rather than a temp. 1080TI is still a beast of a card and at $325...it was really a steal. It's a beautiful looking card! Was worried it might have had issues since it was listed cheap, but it passed a 3D Mark Stress test with 99.7% stability which is the first card I've ever owned/tested with that high of a stability score in the stress tests. Not even my retail 2080 did that high. It was mid 98% range. I unlocked the 99% stability achievement in the initial 1080TI test, and I've probably run 60 cards through this application without popping 99% before. So I got a good one off the used market!
