I’m trying REALLY hard to snag a 3090FE for my best friend. His mother is dying, and it would be a perfect distraction to let him game and work on some of the ML work he does too... and he needs distractions. Damned if I can find one though.
man.... having lost loved ones in the past, the last thing I wish I had been doing with the little time I had left with them would have been playing games. Not giving advice, that is just my own experience.

Or just do what I did, say "F It" and walk away until the silliness ends. I stick my head in here every once in a while; but until I see reports of "in stock for x hours" instead of "... seconds" or "... minutes" sticking my head in here is all I'm going to do. There're more important things to spend my time and sanity on.
Edit: Also my GTX 1080 works just as good today as it did last month, and will probably continue to do so next month as well.

There's nothing he can do, and it's one of those situations where they said good bye a while ago... and he can't be there (COVID rules for the hospital)... so it's a LOT of sitting around and staring at walls. It's a totally fucked up situation.

Already paid. Seriously, my friend cried. His last few weeks have been just shit after shit on top of it being 2020 - this was the one good thing I'd been able to bring him in a while.

He may want to file complaints to whatever regulatory agency oversees hospitals, or get a court order to nix that policy (at least for his case).
It would probably be too late by the time the policy got lifted though.

As much as I’d like ~60% higher ray tracing frames in Cyberpunk (based on BFV RT) sounded like that dude needed it more. Now I get to go back to debating between which card to try and get lol.

Back to stock talk - EVGA FTW3 Ultras went out today, up to around 7:35 AM on 9/17 so far confirmed.
Same. My XC3 order from 9/28 is still showing a 10/14-10/15 delivery date. Already waited this long, I guess I can wait another week.

My 9/22 Amazon order for the XC3 Ultra originally had an estimated delivery date of 16 Oct 2020 but has been showing as no estimated delivery date for the past couple weeks. If it doesn't update by the end of the week I'll probably end up cancelling it.

Microcenter Overland Park got 8 x 3080's last week around Friday or Saturday morning and 2 x Asus Strix 3080's today or yesterday.
I picked up 2 x 3080's, took the GF with me but going to be very careful. I don't want to tie up that kind of money. It's already getting harder to re-sell these things. Facebook Marketplace has a handful of cards that don't seem to be moving.
Cards will meet demand in the coming few weeks I'm pretty sure. On top of, the RTX 2070 will release a lot of that demand pressure. Maybe I am wrong. Hopefully all of us can walk into a Microcenter in Nov and guy a card. Especially the very expensive RTX 3090's.
If you're in the KC area, just go and wait at opening everyday, chances are, you will get one if you show up around 9am .... wink wink / hint hint.
Also, the demand is going to be greater on the east and west cost or larger metropolitan areas with huge populations, obviously. Kansas City while fairly huge, is not Bay Area Huge or NYC or Dallas or Chicago huge. So demand is not as great and the chances are much higher of getting cards here.

I saw someone posted on the nowinstock chat earlier that they were able to get a 3080 FE in store at Best Buy. Said there were ~8 of them in the case. They posted a pic of the receipt dated today. Might be worth swinging by Best Buy if you happen to be close to one?
damn, that is surprising as hell. I'll give a call tomorrow to my local store but it isn't close enough to be worth the trip. I highly doubt any store in new england has them.

Ive given up on getting anything of value this year. Prices are crazy or stock is just insanely low. I was hoping to be able to play the new FF game (newish anyway...ive been waiting a year for thee new cards). I also was hoping to get a plane this year but flippers have scalped the prices through the roof in the used market. Im seeing the same with housing inventory...going like crazy.
