LG 32'' UltraGear FHD 165Hz HDR10 Monitor

I wanted 1080 and a VA panel looks fine to me. I use to do professional photography and had several IPS panels over the years, starting in 2008 with an $1200.00 24" first Philips model. Yeah, they look gorgeous.

But I don't do that shit anymore and the VA panel looks great to my eyes and has a good angle of view. I didn't want 1440 or 4K because everything is way, way too small on a 32". Well, I could have been happy with a 1440, probably, but 1080 will allow me to get 165 FPS on almost any game and setting. I was using a 25.5" 1080 and I didn't want things any smaller on the screen for gaming. For working, yeah, it would be nice, but my eyes get to a point they just can't take the small items, fonts, etc. I probably could have been ok with 1440 on a 32". But, this thing cost me 129.00 after applying Costco rewards.

Read this--> $129.00 for a 32" 165Hz monitor. Okay?

You can scale everything natively on windows no problem. Mac you can do it with some technical savvy. Text being too small on a higher res monitor in this day and age is an absurd argument. With scaling, you can have large text, and have it clear as well(no offense, but 1080p on a 32 looks pretty bad. I went through this and 1440p is necessary IMO.)

Yeah figured that out on another thread. So, yeah, now I need a 1440 32". I agree with your assessment.

I have a samsung g7 brand new sitting under my trashcan. According to countless reviews this is one stupid fine VA. 1440p 240 hz Qauntum dot, hdr 600, freesync pro... fully.loaded for 749.99

Well quite a bit after but yeah
Can't you just run it at lower settings, and then you can at least enjoy your monitor for desktop work? I'm looking forward to the extra desktop space, even if I have to run games at lower settings.

Yeah im going to unbox it tonight. I was debating on keeping it until I sold some other monitors I have. Selling used monitors is impossible.

Yeah all I get is, im out of town on business, ill bank wire you the money andnyou ship it. When I clearly said cash only and local only. Bots and scammers flood CL.
Well, that sucks. I sold a lot of computer cases on CL back in 2012 and 2013 when I was doing care reviews for the now defunct Benchmark Reviews.

Oh it will sell on CL just have to keep digging through bots.

Debating whether I should sell it as a package with everything, or if I should just take the power supply out and sell it with the MB and RAM in it. I'd just show the buyer it works, then rip the power supply out. PSU unit only has a year on it, but it's still old.

My Vine review from 2013 is the very first review, from "NULL".
It's just nice to have a spare PSU. However, I've never had one go bad in the last 20 years.

I would keep a spare. THe second you sell it, luck will have it, that your main PSU will break.

As far as the Samsung G7. well I hooked it up tongiht and dialed it in mostly. Impressed is an understatement. I have never owned anything but IPS and TN. And this special Samsung VA tech is absolutely stunning. It, to my eyes, is superior to IPS in everything. Samsung really knocked it out of the park.

And this monitor is also VESA certified Display HDR 600 so it really pops in HDR. Looks fantastic and the 240hz rate is amazing too.

I did a lot of reading about newer VA panels and they are really bright and don't even share anything like the old TN panels. They're good. That's what my LG is. I still want a 1440. I'm getting that HP 144Hz 24" Saturday, but I was in Costco today, and looked at a Samsung 24" and OMG, it's sooooooOOoooOOO tiny vs my 32" I really don't think I could use it. I'll probably just hook up my old ASUS 26" 1920 x 1280 and ride that until I can get the 1440. Anyway, for 129.00 maybe I'll keep this one. I dunno. If I knew I could get a good 1440 32" 144Hz-165Hz for 450, maybe I would do it. I could get 220.00 back from this one and then January another 130 for Costco rewards. That would give me 330.00 bucks. I could probably sell enough stuff on CLs to raise 200 bucks, maybe.

I just found several name brands for less than 360 on Amazon--is the price reduction finally here for 15440 165Hz? I need to read up on curved panels because most of them are curved. I also need to review a whole bunch of other stuff about 165Hz before I buy one. One of the ASUS 1440 165Hz only gives 165 using the DP, not HDMI.

I find that curved is not bad at all. Even the obnoxious 1000r of the Samsung Odyssey is acceptable once you start to use it. Get in a good gaming session and your brain ignores the curve and it starts to flatten out to you.

Have you looked at the offerings of Monoprice. They have some really compelling prices for thier monitors and have quite good reviews.

What about the curved for desktop work itself, not gaming? (I'll check monoprice, but I like to keep all of my purchases in one place, as much as possible. Amazon is like a personal book keeper in that respect.)

Just noticed that when I turn on HDR in Windows, when working from Windows, not gaming, looks washed out vs disabling it. What's up with that? (I tried everything to try and get it back, but noting looks as good as turning HDR off.

Well, I got that HP 144Hz 24" IPS panel today. I guess it has been a long time since I used an IPS panel--about 7 years. Fuck that VA shit. This IPS panel is extraordinarily color crisp, with grey grey, white whites, and black as hell blacks compared to that LG 32 VA panel I just boxed up ready to go back to Costco.

24" is too small, but I can live with it until I find that 32" IPS 144Hz monitor I can afford. This IPS panel puts to shame that LG VA panel. Seriously. I mean, it's not that bad, but it's really noticeable. I could probably use my color monkey and calibrate it to look pretty close, though. I did that with an old ASUS 15" VA panel I was using before these panels, and it was dead on with my IPS panel, as far as color goes. Everything just looks more crisp and saturated with this IPS.
