Unfortunately and perhaps as expected, absolutely zero news on this monitor's availability since the initial announcements in January. Especially with COVID-19 I'll be surprised to see this this year.

Hmmm. I was hoping to play Cyberpunk 2077 on this monitor. But i guess that might be wishful thinking. Unless I manage to hold of playing and avoid any spoilers for couple months post launch....

I know the Acer X32 will come out in the beginning of the 2021. Probably the Asus will too...

Thanks for the heads up! That gives me a bit of hope. I know these monitors will be super expensive. If i had to guess I would say $2,999. Expensive, especially compared to a 48inch LG CX Oled, but 48 inches is just darn big for me to consider using it for a day to day monitor. I test drove a 43 inch monitor and it was too big for me so I know 48 inch is too much in my opinion. I currently use a 32 inch monitor and think it is the perfect size for desktop use with normal seating distance. I plan to get many many years use out of it so at least I can justify the cost of it.

$3599 for the Acer X32... For the price you can get the CX48, a 3090, and still have $600 unspent.

You make me sad ;-) It was easier to delude myself and gloss over the numbers until you put it in perspective like that...lol

I am considering it myself, and while it's not out yet there is enough time to embrace the reality. 😅

If the news leaked that LG was working on a 42" OLED 4K TV then I would probably sit on the sidelines until that came out and then just bite the bullet and get use to the larger monitor and pocket the difference in money. But for now this Asus or Acer monitor is all I am considering...

When is this stupid thing coming out....lol I just bought an X27 again as the 48cx is too fucking big for work productivity and Pron.

HDMI 2.1 support is exactly what I was looking forward to hear about these displays. I knew they specifically delayed them to make sure the Ampere supports the HDMI 2.1 and to test the new connection. Because with HDMI 2.0 these monitors make so much less sense in 2021.
i just wonder how it will cooperate with the Gsync Ultaimate which works via Displayport only. That means, that when using the HDMI 2.1 you get the perfect 4K 4:4:4 120hz 10 bit resolution with software Gsync support, but the expensive Nvidia module just sits there and basically all it's doing is spinning the annoying fan. Waste of money on useless hardware.... Just a pile of tech these monitors are )) Everything that is available by 2021 in terms of image synchronization is thrown at them.

It’s never going to be that price. I’d wait for proper US pricing before assuming it will be that crazy. Bound to be expensive though given the specs

Finally some sort of update! If it can come out in January I would be impressed.

HDMI 2.1 now? If so that explains the massive delay as this would be the first HDMI 2.1 input found in a physical gsync module monitor and probably required some additional work to get implemented. That and the fact that this thing has even more dimming zones than the 27" monitors means it's going to very very pricey indeed.

I hope the price is not real final price, though. No way I'm paying that kind of money for a gaming monitor. There will be like 5 people in the world who will buy it, if that price is real, totally unreasonable.

I disagree. 38"-40" is perfect for 4K.
But “38 - 40 inch” isn’t 48”? That’s what the comment was above, that 48” is too big. Not for 4K but for a desktop monitor (for many people, not all)

32 in is perfect for me, and how far away I sit from my computer. I run an old 1920x1200 HP ZR 24W as a second monitor, and my HP Omen 32 as my main. It's perfect for work, it's okay for gaming (my rig isn't that fast right now anyway). A lot of the new hardware (GPUs specifically) don't interest me because I can't find the right display to pair with them. Something like this would be great but it's not affordable atm.

Can DP 1.4 not support 4k@144? Monitor's specs make no sense.
In HDR it can do 4K 96hz 4:4:4 max. In SDR - I think it is 120hz max. 4K 144hz SDR only supported when chroma sub. is 4:2:2. The specs make no sense for sure...

Lol, pay 3k+ for something objectively worse than an LG OLED that costs 1500. Monitor tech sucks

If it uses Display Stream Compression then 4K 144 Hz with HDR would be fine.

Absolutely.

Yes, but I am not sure if it introduces any kind of image degradation.
It should be visually lossless. I currently use my LG CX 48 with DP + DSC -> HDMI 2.1 and cannot tell a visible difference compared to running HDMI 2.0 direct.

Interesting. But I don't think I wouldn't want any compression on my resolution. Especially for $3600+. But, this is something to think about.

If it's visually lossless then it's not an issue. Just like you can have for example FLAC audio be compressed but lossless.

Without DSC you will be stuck at 4K 120 Hz 8-bit I think.

I don't know much about DSC. Only thing I know is that any compression brings loss in details to a certain degree. I will have to research this matter to form an opinion. Also, there is no warrantee that these monitors will have DSC to begin with. I think that they will have the standard g-sync ultimate module, just like the one installed on other g-sync ultimate monitors that appeared before, and they didn't support the DSC from what I know. Doubt there will be any upgrade in this regard.
In your case you running the DSC via the Club 3D adapter?

Yeah DSC is via the adapter.

I didn't realize that Club3d adapter uses the DSC algorithm to feed 4k 120hz from the 2080ti DP port to the OLED HDMI 2.1. lol Now I know.
Yeah DP 1.4 does not have enough bandwidth otherwise for things like 4K 120 Hz 10-bit HDR.

32" 4k144 is the Holy Grail size/rez/refresh!

But, no Hdmi 2.1???

And $3600...that means after tax and shipping your looking at over 4 large.

I think this is the part of the TFT article most people are missing; but which may be the most important --

"The latest AU Optronics panel information we had recently in Oct 2020 suggested that the 32″ IPS-type panel being used for this screen was due to go in to mass production in October, and so with a bit of luck we should see this screen available a few months from then, probably around early Q1. Taobao have it listed as starting shipment on 8th January 2021."

Meaning that if 32 inch IPS panels are in mass production, there may be 'midrange' 4k IPS available in 2021 that doesn't have the premium price of the gaming boxes
