Destiny 2

Powerful Friends mod for sale at Gunsmith today (9-22) this is a must have if you haven't gotten it yet.

Appreciate that! I've been meaning to grab that one. Got to look up a build or two for it. This season I've really just focused on Lucent Blade + Oppressive Darkness.

Good builds both. I have an Arc Bond with Lucent Blade, Bleeding Edge, Hands-On and Boss Resist on it, makes for great synergy! Oppressive Darkness works awesome on my Devour build for PvE also. I like to throw on some Enhanced Momentum Transfer mods to get my melee back while I'm at it. I'll use Solar Plexus and Celestial Fire a lot in PvP with Karnstein Armlets to get my health back. All great builds from this Season.

Frraksurred did you get to do any of the Nightfalls last week, or did you not have time? I managed to completely fill my inventory and post master with shards and prisms. It was actually a lot of fun, even did a few Grandmaster runs.

A clanmate ran them on my account while I was at work (80hrs last couple weeks). I upgraded numerous things and still have 7 golf balls and 80 some prisms. Should be good for now. Wish I could have gotten in on it, I need Master NF experience.

I got Luna's Howl finally. What a piece of shit. I don't know how anyone can use this piece of crap to get Not Forgotten. My ELO and ability seriously fell off a cliff trying to use this thing. It's utterly horrendous. Spare Rations, Ace of Spades, Thorn, or just about anything else works better than this pile of shit.

For the life of me I can't use Precision Frame hand cannons. The weird lack of recoil actually makes me worse so i'm right there with you. Its nerf to actually fire at 150RPM and not its old 180RPM just made it even worse.

I'm, the same way. I can handle 140's or even 110's, but the 150's and 180's are horrible for me.

So regular 150s I love, easily my favorite. Dire Promise and Thorn feel incredible to me.

I like Thorn. But Dire Promise blows goats. I hate the way it feels. I understand it's good. I've been killed by it enough in the crucible to know that. But, I have never done well with it. That and I hate the way it looks.

I got a good roll on it and it helped me with some things but I'm not big on it.

I tend to agree with a number of your general criticisms on some of these HCs. Ace, Thorn, Lumina, Kindled Orchid, Austringer... any of these I favor way more.

I dont even understand HOW to use a hand cannon for some reason, give me a scout, pulse or auto rifle and I will decimate in crucable all day long. Give me a hand cannon and it better be dildo shaped because the best I could do with it is to go fuck myself lol

Click the heads, generally. :p

Its definitely tougher now in the autorifle meta we're in but it'll shift eventually.

I have hated HC's since trying to force myself to use them. When I first started playing this game all the advice I was getting was "get X Hand Cannon = profit". I'm in my early 50's, been shooting pixels in the head since there was such a thing, but I still cannot get the rhythm of these things down. If I want to guarantee lose a duel, I'll put on a HC. Most hated weapon type in PvP, don't mind them in PvE, just makes the task take longer for me.

It's strange for me in PVP. Iron Banner is where I tend to be at my best such as it is. If I use an HC 9/10 times it's Ace otherwise I'm usually using an AR or something else along those lines. I notice a lot of people including myself have gravitated towards Gnawing Hunger. I'd love to get a vorpal rampage combo of that or something comparable.

Unfortunately, Rampage and Vorpal Weapon are perks that only roll in the same slot.

There are a lot of good Gnawing Hunger rolls, however the truth of the matter is no matter what you get it'll be good. If you're ever curious about a weapon's rolls and what slot each is in, Light.gg has you covered. https://www.light.gg/db/items/821154603/gnawing-hunger/

IMO Zen Moment/Rampage is pretty great for PVE. Ultimately the Overflow/Rampage curated roll (90 round mags!) from Reckoning Tier 3 is where at least I want to be, but.. Reckoning. No.

Damage perks are always located in the same column. The other column will have things like Zen Moment, Outlaw, Rapid, Hit, Box Breathing, etc. depending on the weapon type. Generally, if your very lucky a reload perk and a damage perk can be had on the same weapon. Newer weapons are doing that less and less as Bungie is moving away from that. Most of the time the God rolls were always a reload + damage perk. So, rather than improve the other perks they opted to just get rid of or nerf the reload perks. Or, the guns simply don't get a damage perk. The IKELOS SMG 1.02 or whatever its called is a good example of this. It can't get either a damage perk or a reload perk.

That shift has absolutely made me use and take advantage of a variety of 3rd and 4th column perks that I would have previously trashed.

Given that Destiny 2 has a bullet sponge problem I absolutely hate the lack of damage enhancing perks and reload perks, which increase DPS.

I know what you mean but I think they really want you to lean into non-weapon related buffs and debuffs. Really taking advantage of them makes all the difference. A simple masterworked primary + Taking Charge + Stacks on Stacks + High Energy Fire does wonders and I'm really digging that combo right now.

My ophidian aspects are almost 100% mandatory for me on my warlock now, it hurts my soul to not use them after you get use to the reload speeds and melee range given by it lol.

I wish I knew what that was like. Sadly Transversive Steps are permanently fused to my Warlocks feet.

I’ve pretty well worn Transversive Steps as my armor exotic since forever. Only exotic armor piece I’ve masterworked. However, while doing a number of pvp/comp based quests this season I mixed it up with Ophidian Aspects and I think that’s my new go-to for pvp. It’s funny though, I put them on and when the match kicks off it takes me a second to remember my weapon doesn’t reload when I sprint. Both really are excellent.

Oh, I’ll also mention that I’m down to one armor piece left to hit 1060 base power. I’ve literally been trying to get legs and a chest piece for maybe two months now. Terrible rng on that. Just need the chest piece now.

Anyone on PC having connection issues? I get the message Destiny 2 servers are not available

ETA: It was me, something was wonky with my connection after setting up pfsense yesterday. Reboot fixed it.

Agreed, but Umbral Engrams do roll with 2 options in the last slot, so technically he could get them both and switch back and forth as desired.

I have an Opening Shot / Kill Clip with Vorpal option that I like for PvP. Another with Subsistance / Rampage - Demolitions I like for PvE.

Good Lord this made me laugh coming from The Division 1 & 2. You want to experience Bullet Sponge? You should have played D1 1.3. AI goes down like paper cups in Destiny compared to that game.

Man all you Warlocks need to branch out a little. Karnstein Armlets are great for getting health back, Sunbracers awesome for none stop grenades, Nezarics Sin buffs Devour builds... man I'm New Light and I could go on for another 10 minutes. So many good exotics On Warlock.

Yeah i'm probably 1500 hours in on my warlock alone and been around the block with them all. They definitely have their own benefits for certain situations but I've found that unless I really can't live without a specific ability that another exotic will give me, the all around neutral game my Transversives bring just overshadows anything else.

But yeah, when you need to do something specific like bounty farming and need void ability kills, Nezeracs goes on for sure. Contraverse Hold is probably one of my favorite as I love.. LOVE charging top tree nova's grenades and getting them back quickly. With Oppressive Darkness MAN are they strong. If I really need to lean into Stormcaller and chain abilities, Crown of Tempests is mandatory. Same for Geomags and chaos reach.

Now that i'm typing this out it comes down to how much I want to lean into the Super and abilities. If I rely more on my weapons for an activity, I like neutral game exotics and Transversives for me scratch that itch.

Sure getting my ass handed to me by Dire Promises in the Banner a lot. I guess I'm going to take it for more of a spin at this rate.

I'm getting destroyed by it and everything else in comp. I went from being near the top in every match using an auto-rifle to getting one or final blows per match with the Luna's Howl. The thing has absolutely tanked my ability to be competitive in PvP. I do a little better with it in Iron Banner, but not much. If I switch to the Ace of Spades, I immediately do much better. Although, not as good as I'd like. I just can't use Luna's for shit.

I hate Dire Promise. It's beyond hideous. But, there is no denying that in the right hands it stands out as one of the better hand cannons right now.

It's nuts. I don't know if Dire is Flavor of the Month or what. I'm "ok" when I use it but damn some of these guys are just tearing it up.

I've been mostly using Gnawing Hunger and occasionally some Ace here in the Banner and generally doing ok but wowsers. I watch Thorn tear it up, too. I need to give it some more attention.

I'll never earn Luna myself so I'll take your word for it. I have run across similar feedback like yours.

Thorn works well because they buffed the damage the poison does. It allows the gun to do better DPS than most other hand cannons at longer ranges as a result. The base damage still drops off like any other hand cannon, but the poison damage is fully applied at any range the weapon can make the hit at. It's a 150RPM hand cannon I believe, but what allows me to use it effectively is the fact that it has recoil. The lack of recoil on Luna's is counter intuitive for me.

Its just that 150's are statistically the best handcannons in the game right now from a TTK perspective. That and with Spare Rations being sunset, the Dire is what people are migrating towards. Players who like precision weapons, basically most of the high level PVP crowd, love them for their accuracy and low TTK. That and its not an exotic so that can be used elsewhere though TBH, exotic weapons just aren't used much at the top.

Now, everyone see's Frostbolt dropping 60 elims in a Control match with a Dire and they try to emulate it with the "he must know something" mentality. Meanwhile, Frost will drop 60 elims with a potato.

That all being said! I'm super excited for the changes to 110's coming next season! Hope you have some True Prophecy and Crimils Daggers rolls in the vault since they're getting some love.

Yeah, 180 Precision HC's lack of recoil is the sole reason I can't use them. In fact they're hardly used at all on PC by KBM players. However over in console land they're very common.

I know they are, but I can't use them for shit. Well...outside of Thorn anyway. I can use that one although I'm better with the Ace of Spades. But, that won't get Not Forgotten as it must be done with Luna's Howl. To be honest, at the slow rate I'm getting kills, I don't know if I can finish this before the end of the season. I know I don't really need to due to sunsetting, but for some reason it's a goal in my mind. It's the only thing that's keeping me playing the game right now in this content drought. I'm at season rank 208 and I've done everything I felt I needed or wanted to do. So I decided to finish off a bunch of Crucible pinnacle weapon quests that were still outstanding.

I know I'll still be able to use them in PvP once their light cap is exceeded, but I really want to get it done before the next season.

The controller players on PC that I know prefer 180's over most other hand cannon archetypes. They absolutely hate 110's.

I'm with you there but for Redrix. Problem is i'm at the 25 Survival, 25 Rumble and 25 Control step and I just can't be bothered. Control has been done but i'm not suffering through the rest. I'm usually a completionist for stuff like that but... UGH.

Decided to join a lfg to do some Iron banner last night and it ended up being a blast, only lost 2 matches over 3 hours and both of those were to other 6 man groups. Decided to join in with some Mountain Top and galliard fun since its going to be sunset soon and it was good, but I missed my arbalest and its super shut downs alot lol
