Just got this email from Newegg:

Dear Customer,

Thank you for subscribing to receive an Auto Notify Email about NVIDIA RTX 3080. If you were among the hundreds of thousands who tried buying one at launch, we hope you were successful. However if you were unable to get one, we’d like to provide you with as much information as we can, as well as our plan for the rest of the RTX 30 Series launch.

Newegg released the NVIDIA RTX 3080 graphics cards on Thursday, September 17th at 6:00 am PT. We tried to procure as many cards as possible from our partners, however our inventory was very limited and far from sufficient to meet the enormity of the demand. To maintain a level playing field, we made sure our bot protection was active to help ensure all orders were placed by humans. We mandated a 1-unit-per-order limit to spread the cards to as many customers as possible, and to prevent scalpers from leveraging our site. We conducted a manual inspection of all 30 Series orders to validate our protections and are confident that cards are getting to real customers. We are also actively reporting any Newegg screenshots of orders as they appear on 3rd party marketplaces.

Due to the unprecedented amount of traffic the morning of the launch, our inventory of RTX 30 Series cards sold out in minutes. We are currently restocking our inventory as more cards come in from various manufacturers and will continue to do so on a daily/weekly basis. We cannot disclose precisely when cards will be coming in, but they will be activated on our site as we receive inventory from each manufacturer.

NVIDIA created an incredible card which has an incredible demand, and our partners have created some spectacular models with it. From previous launches to the bitcoin mining boom, we’ve seen it all and have processes in place to ensure everyone has a fighting chance to upgrade their rig or start a new build. We’re excited to see the PC community grow and are doing everything we can to procure more components for our beloved PC family.

Upcoming are two more releases: the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 on Sept. 24th, and the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 on Oct 15th.

Keep checking the site for the 3080 cards, or if you prefer to wait for the upcoming releases instead, we’ll see you then.

Sincerely,
Newegg

Both my Zotac cards from Amazon.de got cancelled. Anyone ordered from OCUK? I am thinking about using their pre order queue as am done playing the F5 game.

Newegg says sold out in minutes. No I was actively trying to get a card from them on launch day. Try partial seconds...and of course it was bots. Human shoppers don’t bring down websites by Denial of Service attacks with fleshy fingers.

How about these companies bring back their in person sales people to take orders over the phone in person. This way they could at least validate the customer in person. However I have a feeling a sale is a sale to newegg and all the other retailers.

Simply add the phone number at the last minute and maybe change it every so many minutes. I know there are phone bots but its got to be better than what we have now.

I find it very disturbing that people are just desperately buying any vendor's card because they got caught up in the hype. This is basically mass hysteria based on nothing. There's no shortage of cards. These stores want scalpers buying up all the inventory because it makes the product seem hotter than it is. They have everything to gain and nothing to lose from the perception that it's more rare than it actually is.

We really need some new laws passed to fight this shit.

We could also go futher back in time and have customers send a physical letter with an order.../s

Will you pay the extra cost?
Most peoole will not...

I don't know what Nvidia is doing but their store is acting weird. I was curious what their checkout process was like so I tried to "buy" a 2060 but it's just stuck at "Checking Out" for over 5 minutes now. Have tried multiple times now with the same result. Whatever changes they've put in seems to have just broken the whole process.

Are you in dire need of a GPU now just to get back up and running? I'm only asking since the 3070 is so close to release.

I wasn't actually trying to buy a 2060. Never bought anything from the Nvidia store before but wanted to see what the experience was like.

I'm only half guilty, I won't touch PNY, Zotac or Gigabyte. The Gigabyte mainly because it is ugly. Also the stock MSI Ventus seems iffy and it's hard to find solid numbers on the OC version.

Otherwise I'm not too picky, any EVGA card will do or the Asus TUF. Maybe the top end Asus or MSI but I'll need a slim case fan in front to fit those.

I'm leaning towards the asus as well. I think it performs better than the fe while the evga performs on par. My last two cards have been asus.

You pay extra for that privilege though. The price is the best feature of the FE card.

ASUS has a 3080 TUF at $700. Probably the best of the bunch if you can actually find one of course.
Agreed. The tuf version is 50 more not 700...worth it since it performs better than fe and also quieter. I just noticed the asus has 2 hdmi while the other cards only 1.
I'm still waiting on the 3070 but leaning to the asus brand

I have never had an RMA issue with asus, but I haven't had to RMA something from them since 2008. Just my personal experience

Really i never knew that and 80%of my parts are asus
Friend of mine's GTX 1080 fan stopped working about a month after the warranty ended, but Asus still honored it and replaced the card. This was last October.

Before the release of the 3080 there were people askin “Should I buy Ampere or wait for Big Navi?” Looks like we have no choice but to wait to see what AMD has to offer 😂

There's a TUF and TUF OC. The OC is $50 more but the regular TUF is $700.

Scalpers, doing something AMD marketing or videocards couldn't do for a decade make gamers delay videocard purchase for AMD release. I always thought AMD marketing had to up their game to make a dent in market, but this is too far AMD! 😜

No I would not pay extra. I'm also questioning how many cards did they really have in stock. For a $1400 card at the time, the 2080Ti was not found for months after the so called release.

Selling off my MSI 3080 to my friend (at cost). Have an EVGA 3080 order in with Amazon that is supposed to be fulfilled by October 16th. Going to just hang tight and wait for the card to arrive and see what else unfolds in the mean time over the coming weeks.

x58 board. Purchased from Newegg. It died and I sent it in for RMA. They sent me a physically damaged board that completely died after 1 week.
I let them know about the damage when I got the replacement board and they didn't respond. Then when I told them it died, they put "CLOSE!" in the RMA ticket. Newegg accepted and RMA 2 years after I purchased the board because of this and then refunded me the original purchase price for that board.

Told myself I would never buy an ASUS product again. Then I gave them another chance a couple years later.

x79 TUF board. They sent me multiple dead boards and then finally sent me a NIB x79 Deluxe (the newer version). Took a couple months to get a working board.
Then an R9-390 shows up on my doorstep with no note or anything. Contacted them and they said it was from corporate for me having to go through so much to get a working board.

Still didn't make me trust them at all as far as warranty support goes.

There are also a few dedicated ASUS RMA Hell threads on this forum where people have had to go through a ton of trouble to get a working replacement.

The USA ASUS RMA sites are run by a 3rd party contractor and they do whatever they can to deny warranties and also to send the customers through so much grief, hoping that they will eventually give up and just throw the broken stuff out.

Maybe it has changed, but I have given ASUS multiple chances and every single time they have been horrid to try to work with.

I haven’t dealt with asus but I’ve heard a lot of bad things regarding the warranty support.

I had to rma ram thru Corsair which was quick and easy. They sent the replacement the day after receiving my faulty ram.

Logitech was the worst for the g703 I had that double clicked, I told them replace it or I’ll never buy your stuff again and I’ll post our emails online so everyone can see the run around your giving me. They replaced it after saying that. This process took 3 weeks of emails back and forth then an additional 2 weeks with shipping.

I really want a evga card for the customer service alone. I don’t care if the card is fugly, I’ll take whatever card that I can get at this time
