Wait, so only 15 cards for an entire Microcenter?

If there are 25 locations, let's bump that up to a whopping 20 units per store, that's 500 cards for a whole retailer. Nvidia's saying 50 global distributors...25,000 cards at launch? Even if you quadruple that, man.

It's like a paper launch and the printer's out of cyan.

This morning we saw unprecedented demand for the GeForce RTX 3080 at global retailers, including the NVIDIA online store. At 6 a.m. pacific we attempted to push the NVIDIA store live. Despite preparation, the NVIDIA store was inundated with traffic and encountered an error. We were able to resolve the issues and sales began registering normally.

To stop bots and scalpers on the NVIDIA store, we’re doing everything humanly possible, including manually reviewing orders, to get these cards in the hands of legitimate customers.

Over 50 major global retailers had inventory at 6 a.m. pacific. Our NVIDIA team and partners are shipping more RTX 3080 cards every day to retailers.

We apologize to our customers for this morning's experience.

The PR blowback from this has to be the worst I've seen for Nvidia in a long time, thousands of people were left shaking like a shitting dog at 9:15am est this morning.

Even the GPP got glossed over by most of the tech press. Can't imagine their lack of inventory bodes well for stock prices.

Best Buy just added two MSI 3080's including the Ventus for $750 if anyone needs. That's at 11:30 mountain.

ARM acquisition is at the center stage on their website, too. Was like this early morning before the 3080 "launched".

Best Buy has some on the site available.

2 minutes later they're all sold out.

This is the most ridiculous bunch of shit I've seen in a while. I can't believe there are that many scalpers out there that could wipe out an entire nation's stock of GPU's in a matter of minutes. Gotta be another reason.

All sold out already. i was playing the f5 game and added all of them to my cart numerous times to have them out of stock when checking out.

The site is bugged. It keeps showing cards in stock but they all fail the checkout process - don't waste your time, for now.

Same here. I can fit a 3080 FE with the case intake fan left intact, all the other 3080s are too long. If I want to remove the intake fan I can then fit up to 320mm in length, but I'd prefer not to. Plus, I eventually want to put a water block on it.

I guess I can hold onto my GTX 1080 for a little while longer. I might try and snag a 3090 FE if those become available before the 3080 FE. It would require removing the intake fan, but I might be able to add a fan underneath to help with airflow until I get a water block on it.

But I, too, am thinking at this point I might see the Zen 3 before an FE card becomes available.

Just take your side panel off, I've left my off for years, does wonders for temps.

I actually saw the 3080FE in stock for a brief moment... and I was almost able to add it to the cart. But it never finished so no 3080FE for me.

PC gamer got a response from Nvidia. They said they have (only) been in production, since August.

As predicted, scalpers have essentially made this a paper launch, and I think there is a high probability you will not get these for MSRP until after the holiday season.

Spent all morning looking on various online portals. Finally got one by searching 3080 on amazon.ca Card is the MSI Gaming Ventux 3x version. Price Canadian before tax was $ 1049 which converts to 797 USD. Seeing Canadian prices on these ranging from $999 CDN up to $1149 for some models. Pretty much immediately after i completed the order and got the email the product is now out of stock. I think portals like newegg / amazon etc will have stock trickling in and just continuing to refresh is your best bet untill you can get on pre-order or get one in store.

Lol you guys are dedicated.

With where the case is on display, it wouldn't be the prettiest to look at since it sits on top of the desk and I imagine the fan noise would be more prominent. But it would be functional...

That side is a windowed panel, I have pondered how much effort it would be to pop the window out and replace it with a screen instead.

And there are vents at the bottom of the case too. So plenty of areas to pull air in. Just would prefer that the video card and radiator fans are not having to work harder to pull in fresh air.

I am good with not getting one for awhile. It is just kind of an interesting pursuit for now. I think I would be like a dog who caught the car if I actually got one today, in that I would be so dumbfounded I would not know what to do next.

This is crazy. I’m surprised my buddy got one at microcenter today

How hard is it for these stores to force manual verification for these purchases? It's not like bots are a new thing. Wtf.

These retailers don't care. It's instant revenue and profit for them so that they can rejoice over their stock prices rising by an eighth of a percent.

Is anyone suprised? 2080Ti were the same way. When has a high end release from Nvidia not been a paper launch?

I got my 1080 Ti with no problem on launch day, but with the 3080 shitstorm, looks like I'll be keeping it a while longer!

I was at the store. The website was a lie

But yea whatever. I can wait a little more. Hopefully Navi is our savior

I was just a signal away from the Tustin store. Made a right turn as soon as I saw a very long line all the way to the street.

These aren't just simple bots written in Python or something. These are large organized-crime style groups executing code that is being sold as commercial software products behind steep paywalls and clandestine invite-only Discord servers.

Goddamn this makes me angry. Does anyone have a buddy at the FTC or something?

Exactly, and on top of that they make even more money when the scalpers sell it as well, and Amazon/Newegg/Whatever take another cut of that inflated sale. Shit, when these scalper setups buy from Amazon, Amazon doesn't even move the product in the warehouse. It just gets tagged that it's now for sale by the scalper, and doesn't shift. It's made scalping as efficient as possible.

There is zero incentive to fix this issue.
