"Dr. Su has bachelor's, master's and doctorate degrees in electrical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). She has published more than 40 technical articles and was named a Fellow of the Institute of Electronics and Electrical Engineers in 2009. In 2018, Dr. Su was elected to the National Academy of Engineering, was named "Businessperson of the Year" by Fortune Magazine, and received the prestigious Dr. Morris Chang Exemplary Leadership Award. In 2019, Dr. Su was named one of the World's 50 Best CEOs by Barron's, one of the "Most Powerful Women in Business" by Fortune Magazine, one of "The Best-Performing CEOs in the World" by Harvard Business Review, and she was included in "The Bloomberg 50" list of people who defined the year.

"It is a tremendous honor to receive the Noyce Award and join the distinguished list of previous recipients, many of whom I'm fortunate to count as mentors, role models, colleagues, and friends," said Su. "I look forward to continuing to push the envelope of what we can accomplish in the semiconductor industry, which has become so instrumental to every aspect of our lives."

The Noyce Award is named in honor of semiconductor industry pioneer Robert N. Noyce, co-founder of Fairchild Semiconductor and Intel Corporation."

This blows me away. I wonder how many applicable and practical degrees Jensen Haung has?

Quite a bit.

Right?
Depends upon how you look at it. I think she's great, and is absolutely the best thing that's happened to AMD in a long time. I think that stands on its own.
Yes, perhaps it's even more impactful considering she's against some ruthless proven adversaries - so if that was the point, I'd agree.

The point may be her deep knowledge of the industry on a fundamental level has been a great reasourse to her position

First, because they are the direct competition and second, because they are family.
Acknowledged and point taken. CEO performance is truly not something one can take in isolation.

But - as for degrees by themselves, I have not seen that translate directly to job performance in my life.
In this example, it's not just degrees which matter. We could put 10k people in that position with her exact pedigree, and they'd implode. She's more than the degrees. She's just damn smart, and not just in very specific areas (as most of us engineers are).

Not sure this is warranted after looking at previous winners accomplishments. Not saying she isn't doing a great job as CEO at AMD, she is. I'd have to research her personal contributions to electronics/computing as compared to previous winners to not think this is a reward for bringing AMD back as CEO only.

Not taking anything away from her but she has a long way to before she catches Jensen. Sure might be .ore technical but Jensen business skills are top tier. He built one of the biggest tech companies in the world from the ground up.

and her skills were exactly what amd needed. nvidia has been in a different position then amd and the ceo will adjust the strategy as necessary.
