RTX 3xxx performance speculation

If i have 2080 Ti Aorus Waterforce is any sense to buy Rtx 3090 for 1440P?
Depends on the rest of you system. You might become CPU bound at that res. Honestly unless you have money to burn it is not worth more then 2x the price for estimated 20% more performance.

3090 will be ~ 50% faster than a 2080ti when not CPU bound. Completely depends on how much you value money and what you play. For purely rasterized... I'd say no. If you're into RT, yes depending on how much cash you have.

It's fast. Double my 1080 ti. But the 3080 FE cooler is not quiet by my standards as I feared - same noise as founders 2080 according to TPU. 3090 with its huge cooler should be better. And of course, custom cards. Need to see more models reviewed.

Absolutely not.

Is your 2080 Ti struggling at 1440p to hit the frame rates you are after? My guess is probably not, unless your target is very high.Even it is it, the 3090 is crazy overkill for 1440p. If you need a bump in performance, get a 3080 at less than half the price. Pocket the rest of the cash for your next upgrade.

I'll probably try to grab a FE for the hell of it. If not, plan B can always be snagging a 2080ti with a block for $550 somewhere. Running 1440p/144hz atm.

Just was thinking about sell 2080 Ti Aorus Waterforce now, but not?:)

I'm at work so I can't hear audio. Did he say why the 0.1 and 1% lows were so low in some games?

wow I take gamer nexus over some other reviews though. At 19 mins he says overall performance. 20-29% over 2080ti and 24-25% on average. 3080 is decent card for price I guess still but I am not sure where nvidia goes form it. 3090 is not really a whole lot faster on paper. So at max you are looking at 40% over 2080ti to 3090 going by this and 3090 is using almost the entire chip, only 2% cut down.

I doubt it. It is not 25% faster than 3080 on paper. I am more inclined to believe 40% over 2080ti going by gamer nexus review.

Nope! 3090 is not going to be much faster at 1440p. Going by reviews it might be another 15% or so faster than 3080 may be more at 8k.

I was going off 1.18*1.3. (18% for the 3090 vs 3080 and 30% for 3080 vs 2080ti). It could easily be 40% like you said.

If anyone sees any VRAM testing with RT I'd be interested. I still go back and forth between the 3090 and 3080 lol.

So maybe sell 2080 ti waterforce and buy add small extra cash for rtx 3080?hehe ;)

so for 1440p@165 gaming it is good idea to wait for 3070 reviews? right?

I am waiting to see how big Navi does at this point after watching gamer nexus review. I might grab 3080 though and try it out and sell it to miners. Because I am sure they are ready to scalp every single one lol.

ROFL at absolutely destroyed. I hate when you reviewers go wishy washy and don't give you exact overall number. look at TPU, Its overall 24% faster then 2080ti at 4k from his chart in performance summary but in conclusion he said 31% but whatever, lets call it 30%. So about 65% faster than 2080. At 100 more watts. I am not sure where Nvidia is getting 1.9x efficiency over 2080, that is some horse shit lol. I mean I read the end of the review now its power efficiency at 4k? WTF? Its 17% more efficient at 4k, if AMD did this hell would break loose and they would be destroyed for beating 2080ti but it would have said but at way more power in every review. All you would have heard about is power usage power usage power usage lol. I was surprised to see TPU actually list Power Efficiency as PRO! hahaha.

https://www.techpowerup.com/review/nvidia-geforce-rtx-3080-founders-edition/34.html

65% performance increase for same cost - I'll buy that for a dollar.

They put the chip on 7nm+, that's where they go. They suggested as much in the GN review.

Where the F' are the COD benchmarks?!? It's damned near the most popular game in the world and no one benched it! I ordered a 3080 for 1080P 280hz gaming!

GamersNexus benched a strix 2080 Ti, not FE. I have no idea how much that impacts perf, or why they chose that,

That was sorta my plan. If I somehow grab a FE, but like the feel of amd, then I'll just sell the thing to cover what I paid for it.

Well, the time to sell your 2080 was a few weeks ago.

Still, expect to pocket around $400 for it. Spending $300 to get a 3080 is a lot smarter than $1100 for a 3090, especially if you aren't playing at 4k.

Save the $800. You could use it to upgrade again in two years and literally throw your 3080 in the trash and still have spent less money and ended up with a faster card.

The 3090 mirrors the 2080 Ti. Monster performance, terrible value.

Welp, it sure does look like Nvidias marketing really did hype the card too much. Reviews are now showing about 30% faster in 4K gaming over a 2080ti. I had a feeling Nvidia was trying to push DLSS and RTX a bit much in the slides. Now we exactly know why.

And that Digital Foundry youtube REALLY now shows how much of an Nvidia shill they are. They should be ashamed!

Yea, agree. I think this time though its worst for nvidia. Usually they ahve 15% or so above 2080ti model. Not they have 3090 which is likely as high as they can expect from Ampere until refresh with more clocks. I think ampere didn't scale as well as nvidia had hoped and on top 8nm is limiting them in efficiency. Honestly think if you are on 2080ti its either 3090 which costs even more now or wait for refresh. Nvidia played it that way because if you might not be too impressed upgrading to 3080 from 2080ti but if you want to really get the best performance you have to shell out more than double the cost.

Of course temps will higher in pc case and on cpu after selling waterforce 2080 Ti ( 3 fans AIO ) and get 3090 FE or 3080FE?

Disagree, the 3080 is a nice upgrade over the 2080Ti for the price it's offered at. As long as you are gaming at over 1080p IMO. Sell your 2080 Ti for $450 and buy the 3080 for $700 or so. That's very reasonable for the performance upgrade.

Gamer Nexus even mentioned 24-25% average over 2080ti at 4k and not worth it below that. Call me a fool but this really reminds me on AMD GCN, really have to push resolution to get more out of shaders but great at mining.

Reading reviews it doesn't really seem worth spending 250+ at 1080p or 1440p. May be at 4k. Plus you have more power limit with 2080ti if you have one of the aftermarket cards and likely sustain it above 2GHZ. At 4k sure but I am not sure about other resolutions as it scales even less but as I said. I can't say 3080 is not worth the price for people coming from 2080 may be or pascal series. I might grab one in case miners scalp them all and if I wanna swap to RDNA 2, I will probably still sell it at cost atleast.

Check this out! https://babeltechreviews.com/rtx-3080-arrives-ampere-performance-revealed-35-games-benchmarked/4/

3080 almost doubles the minimum FPS of my 1080 TI! YESSSSSS! 216.4 fps average at 1080P at high settings, means that at low-ish settings with Nvidia color filters I could be close to 280 fps! SO STOKED!

Yeah but what is better. Sell 2080 Ti waterforce with aio 2 fans and get rtx 3080/3090 FE + hotter temps on cpu? Because FE is louder and hotter? Hmmm?

"so if you're on a desktop platform with PCIe Gen 3 x16, relax. There's little to no performance lost at any resolution. PCIe generational scaling used to matter when multi-GPU was relevant and there was a likelihood of running a graphics card at x8 bandwidth—not so anymore. You're on a PCIe Gen 4 platform, you get the freedom to run the RTX 3080 at Gen 4 x8 with no performance lost (since it is the same bandwidth as Gen 3 x16), and may drop a sexy NVMe RAID card into the second slot. "

Fantastic.
