Are you single and own a Tesla? This new dating app might drive you to paradise

You could probably accomplish the same thing with one of those "elite" dating services, since anyone who has a Tesla is likely pretty well off!

In High School we used to joke about buying a used Space Shuttle from the US gov't for $10
I meant you can get a brand new model 3 for $38k or even less if you order off the menu, no need to buy a 2013 Model S with 100k+ miles.

Or you could spend that same $38k on like...two brand-new Jettas or Suburu's or Kias or......course then you're on your own for dating. Whats sad is seeing a dozen single people all waiting for their Teslas to recharge in a Supercharger Station, all staring down at their phones....."We need a dating app!". No, you need conversation skills.

"Hey I like your Tesla"
"Hey I like yours too, I like Red"
"...lets start a YouTube Channel about our Teslas..."

Aged sausage fest.

Tesla owner demographics were recently released for model S, and IIRC 87% of new purchasers were older white males aged 55.

The Model S is the $80K+ 2 door isn't it.......and who buys those? Over 55 guys. Guessing the Model 3 is all 20 and 30 somethings......

Please say it autosync with your car and drive them off a cliff if their car is equiped with auto drive!

Why buy two garbage cars instead of one good one that you like?

Yes, but all I see are young people driving the Model 3.
Young being a relative term... I feel like I've seen a lot people 40+ driving Teslas, but very few under that age. I live in a relatively expensive suburban area and I don't see many 20-30 somethings driving a Tesla. I know a bunch of people in their 30's who are relatively well-off - everyone seems to want a Telsa when the topic comes up, but no one actually owns one. Most of them are still saving toward a house and consensus is 40k for a new car is extravagant and not on the table.

This app is going to be about 90% divorcees in their 40-50's.

If you live where I live, 99% of people have to drive SUVs (the bigger the better, it's apparently some sort of "law").... so there's only one Tesla (soon to be two) model available.

(memories of the days when trucks were the purchase of young men.... because they were so much cheaper than a sedan, back bumper was optional)

They’re all in their 20s and 30s around here.

By all means, buy what you like, I'm just pointing out logical options if relying on electric batteries to get you from here to there is not your cup of tea. I live in a state that gets down to freezing in the winter time, which further complicates Tesla ownership as those range figures go down again as electric heaters are powered and batteries in general are operating below peak efficiency. But hey,
its hard to deny the allure of the latest whizbang product.

There’s nothing logical about what you said. That’s not even that much for a new vehicle. I also fail to see how where you live is relevant to anything other than you don’t want to buy one because of where you live ... or whatever.

Jettas and Subis are that cheap, now? I paid $28k in '06 for my DE TDI and my friend got her Forester in '16 for $32k.

I'll also assure you from personal experience, it's not the conversation skills that are necessarily lacking, it's the general lack of confidence to talk to an attractive stranger.

Age wouldn't be a worry, but yeah, wouldn't be surprised if women on that service would be overwhelmed. Not completely out of line with other dating services, but still...

You're thinking the Roadster, which was built on a heavily modified Lotus Elise frame, and ended production in 2012.
The Model S is a 4-door sedan competing in the full-size sedan space, think BMW 5 series.
Model 3 is a compact 4-door sedan, its competition is the likes of BMW 3 and Audi 3 series.

Meanwhile I'm shopping for an M35A2. :D

Ah, no I'm a dope, I thought the Model S was a 2 door coupe, I didn't realize it was a 4 door....the Aston Martin-esque looking one, it's still the $70k entry point however if memory serves.......The model 3 is the one everyone buys and can be had, off menu as the posters above suggest, stripped down for $38k (or $40 after your local state takes its cut I think).

So you can drive two places at once, duh.

Honey, I've got to take another load to the city dump.

Spouse: How am I supposed to get my junk to the dump?

Dear, that's why we have two junk cars. Duh.

You're basing your pricing off dealer inventory and Dealers always order loaded cars because that is where they make their cash. The same reason why Tesla won't sell a $38k Model 3 without you specifically being a pain in the ass and ordering one specifically.....

The Roadster is still being made. They just released a new one with a 0-60 time of 1.9 seconds and a top speed of 250+.

Are you in Canada or something?

Who orders the car at 18k? Just add in a radio, no cd or mp3 or even a touchscreen, just a knob and dial radio and the car price increases like 3000 dollars. Add in a backup camera, another 2000 dollars. 18k is not realistic in the least bit. Oh god get premium wheels and a trim package.... 10k right there. How about a fancy new grill badge that looks cool... 700 dollars. Need a cigarette lighter adaptor instead of naked 12v power socket.... 150 bucks lol

They call them stealerships for a reason

When I was in high school in the 90s, you could get a brand new Ford Escort for like 9,000 bones

Nope, hasn’t been made since 2012. They stopped manufacturing it so they could fully commit their resources to the mass production vehicles (the Model S and the then-in-development X).

Development of a new Roadster was announced at the Tesla Semi event, and a prototype was demonstrated, but production hasn’t started yet, and the new Roadster is currently only available for reservation.

It's a shame more people don't just order the base model and do a little work themselves. As long as the car supports any sort of DIN mount kit you can easily install your own (decent or better than factory) stereo with backup camera, touchscreen, carplay, etc. Then you buy your own premium set of rims and tires and the car now matches the mid-premium trim for only $1000-2000. The only options you should probably opt-in for are power controls, AC, and alarm - honestly most of those are standard in the absolute base model now anyway.

Either way, I would never buy new and eat that instant depreciation - let some other chump do that and take the hit. Buy low-mileage used from last year.

Yeah Dave Ramsey said you should never buy a car brand new unless you can walk in with a bag full of cash and you have at least 1 million in personal worth. I agree but that is a hard milestone to reach in today's over priced society, where a pound of beef is $7.00

We live in a society where no one knows how to do anything anymore. Its all ... "Learn to code brah" type milennial dumb shit now

How about

Learn to weld
Learn to hammer
Learn to chop wood
Learn to garden
Learn to kill a chicken and eat it yourself
Learn to shoot a gun
Learn to fish
Learn to change a tire ...

nah not important man .... gotta know that Code b.s.

anways this is deeply offtopic now sorry haha

To keep it on topic I agree that a dating app that uses Tesla owners is cool for I guess Tesla owners. What happened to going out and meeting people face to face in the bar or club? Are kids not doing that anymore?
