RX 5500 Desktop GPU?

I'm guessing here, but I expect they're still working through old stock 570's, 580's, and 590's leftover from the mining crash. They seem readily available, which is odd considering their age.
anything less than a 5500 xt would eat into those necessary sales.
 
Might be able to find an OEM pull on ebay or alibaba or something.
 
From a processing power standpoint he 5500XT is pretty much the equivalent of the Rx580 which can be had for a modest outlay.

It is a bit better overall and uses a lot less power. More future proof as well.
 
How much is your budget? There is probably a suitable card that will be similar performance.
 
The card you showed is the small iTX (7" long) I believe and I have only seen them in RX 5500 XT in 4Gn and 8Gb versions .. I ordered the 8Gb version to pair with a computer I am working with at the moment .. I mean $200 video cards are still fun to buy as that was a lot in the early to mid 2000's .
 
As far as I know the vanilla RX 5500 is about 10% slower on paper than the 5500XT but has a higher TDP. It's not really worth finding one unless you find a good deal on a resale site.

Advantages over Polaris are real, but pretty understated: the performance bounces between an RX 580 and RX 590 while consuming 30-50% less power. Electrically they're wired as PCIe 4.0 8x, which is sorta weird but probably not a performance bottleneck even running in PCIe 3.0 mode. The full RDNA feature set is also present, including half-precision float support at twice the speed of FP32. I wouldn't buy one for compute since the architecture's slower at it than Polaris in general, the OpenCL driver in Windows is apparently flaky, and ROCm support in Linux still hasn't landed more than a year after launch. But they're not bad cards in absolute terms.
