Battletoads Release Date Announced

Anyone have idea how LONG that level took to beat? XD

I seem to recall there was a level warp during the sled portion (I think placed right before a wall) and that was how I would normally get past it. I remember beating the level legitimately but the final section with the small islands and midair ramp jumps - yeah, it was a monster. Mind you, I was in grade school so maybe it actually wasn't that difficult.

Actually, this section of Battletoads reminds me of my grandfather. This was one of the only video games he'd watch me play, as he found it hilarious when the toad hit a wall. So, I'd have to get through this difficult section and whenever I'd fail my grandfather would usually be laughing at me (or the toad dying).

It was a monster. I'm unsure I actually ever beat it, or if I did I had one life and couldn't get much further.

Another tough one was Milton's secret castle.... Never beat that system would overheat even with people taking shifts to progress it. We all hit a certain level anyways that we couldn't get past.

My childhood neighbor and I stayed up all night beating Rampage. That was the most anticlimactic EVER.

I didn't find the first game very fun... a mixture of TMNT (obviously), and Double Dragon... just didn't feel very fun at the time especially given the difficult of it.

Its an impressive feat. If I recall back in the day, many of those notorious games had either a pattern that would be the same each time and thus memorization could work, or there were distinct audio cues that you could follow. Rather impressive design for a small computing power budget!

Oh while we're talking Battletoads, I know everyone always talks of the Turbo Tunnel level with the jetbikes, noteworthy for both how early in the game it arrived and its length/difficulty. Does anyone recall the OTHER late game vehicle level? For some reason I thought it was perhaps equally if not more difficult back then - each toad was hanging onto something kinda like a unicycle with suction cups on it and you needed to race it through a course that wasn't just at ground level, but would go up walls, around structure, and even upside down!

So glad the new game is coming to PC via Steam - and soon too!

Reminds me of the guys who beat Mike Tyson's Punch Out blindfolded.

Zallard1 is a great to watch playing punchout (or his blindfold runs, but he isn't the only one) my favorite was watching him at AGDQ doing Punchout+Super punchout at the same time on one controller. Being able to play two games at the same time on the same controller was just crazy to watch, some of the stuff the speedrun community puts out is just mind boggling.

Still though that no death turbo tunnel by TMR was insane to watch live.

One of the games from my childhood I never managed to beat. I expect MS to screw it up tho.

You feel like a damned superhero when it's finally beaten. Especially that final section where the screen just flashes barriers/ramps at you.

It's just easier for me to hit the warp point hallway through that last speeding walls section.

I could never beat the third level with enough lives left to conquer the Ice Caverns, so I just skipped ahead to the much easier river level.

The second race level (level 5) sis completely fucking impossible, though, I very rarely made to the Snake Pit without using emulator savestates.

This looks interesting though. I'm liking the f-zero style racing.

It's pretty easy if you just hit the 10th wall. It's a warp to a later level.

But even for that you have to be pixel perfect to hit the expanding "particle effect" because if you miss the warp anf hit the wall instead. 😅

Make sure you give Gamestop a call and ask about Battletoads for Wii.

If an IGN writer thinks it's tough but not sadistic, it's probably ultra easy, and the art style is atrocious.
