In the past did Microsoft/Gamestop take preoeders for Xbox?

I am really wanting a Xbox Series X as soon as it comes out. But I am sure it's not going to be easy to get one on release. I was wondering what the pattern has been on Presales for past Xbox's.

Do not preorder from Game stop. Pre-orders are not being transfered from stores that are shut down. You will have to fight with corporate to get any money you put down.

I dunno, haven't preordered a console since the original Xbox, but with coronavirus going on and possibly affecting retail store availability, I'd pre-order the digital route if I were you (Amazon, Best Buy, etc).

I just ordered a new Xbox One X a while back from Gamestop Online and everything went great. I was hoping the Microsoft themselves would offer a preorder on the Series X I don't want to have any issues with stores over selling the preorder then having to wait for the second batch to come in.

Sure they have no problem with taking your money. If they shutdown you not getting it back tho. Stop supporting that pos company and let it die.

Will do after viewing that video and hearing other peoples stories.

I wouldn't trust Gamestop with pre orders anymore. The company is failing and you never know when your local gamestop will shut down.
Maybe they can still mail your order if local B&M shuts down, but I wouldn't take that chance.

Gamestop isnt bad just wear ear buds and sunglasses.
I honestly never had a issue with my local GS stores. Pretty much never had issue with any people that worked there. Sure they ask about the card and warranty stuff but they never pushed it. The way corporate runs stuff is the problem. They have no respect for the employees not the customers.

My Gamestop store employees aren't as bad as they once were. They still have to push all of the extra pure-profit stuff (it's like renting a car), but they're not as forceful or annoying about it. At the same time, their selection isn't that good anymore. Want an Amiibo that isn't a best-seller or an odd controller color? My local store won't have 'em. What about an older game you're hoping to save a few bucks on? Their used games often cost the same as that game (still new in the box) on Amazon. They'll occasionally mention they can order something, but if I wanted to do that...why not just use Amazon?
There simply isn't a reason for me to shop there. Best Buy has better selection (plus more PC stuff) and better prices if I need something today. If I can wait, Amazon beats 'em both. The only time I've had any luck there in years was an Xbox One I needed for a gift. They were running some kind of special that saved me $20 vs. BB and even Amazon. I haven't seen anything like that before or since.

Eh the Best Buys around always seems to have a poor video game section. It's like they order enough to fill one spot on the rack and that is it. The racks are very sparse too. They got the big case up front but hard to see into it and still not well stocked. I just use Amazon to buy games. Usually sitting there waiting for me when I get home from work on release day.

What's odd (but good!) is that the Best Buys around here seem to have dropped the "big-ol-case-o-games behind the register" concept. Instead, they appear to have the full selection of games out on the floor. At least not counting release-day stuff that haven't been put out yet. They're mostly just like the DVD section, although pricier items (and randomly, controllers), have the little lockdown ankle-bracelet alert on them.
That said, they're still not the most cost-effective option most of the time. I also haven't purchased a physical game for myself in 5+ years, although I've bought a few gifts along the way.
