NES ($50) and SNES ($70) Classic, refurbished direct from Nintendo

That is the same price they were when they were brand new...

Looking through my amazon order history, the SNES and the NES are $10 cheaper than what I paid. Maybe not a hot deal, but they are cheaper.

Marketplace seller, maybe? I bought both of mine from a physical Best Buy when they were still hot and both were $49.99 and $69.99 before sales tax, respectively.

EDIT: Never mind, found the receipt and you're correct.

It gave me some weird error yesterday morning but I still received my invoice.

I am debating on this or just use an emulator with my HTPC and wireless Xbox 360 controller. Really want the SNES one

you’re better off just using your HTPC and buying an 8bitdo wireless retro controller.

edit: I have the snes classic and it just sits in a drawer.

I have a PS One Classic bleemsync'd, SNES Classic, a Retropie Box, an original SNES system, an original NES, an original Sega Master System and Genesis with CD, and of course an emulator on my computer that does all of these. Guess which one I use for the vast majority of my classic gaming? yep

How are emulators these days?

IMHO, I think a Homebrew Wii loaded with the official NES/SNES ports(or worse emulator) is the best way to go. I have one and it's solid.

But I got one of these to make it easier for my kids.

Picked up an NES, but who knows when I'll be able to cross the border to pick it up.

I ripped out my SNES classic the other day, and noticed that occasionally the way that it emulates Super Mario World will cause slowdowns which weren't present on the original game/system. I like the save state system personally on the SNES classic.

As an Amazon Associate, HardForum may earn from qualifying purchases.
I have two hacked PS classics, raspberry pi 4, and several PCs for emulation. I much prefer PC mainly because I am into arcade games and pinball.

No, they came in brown box packaging with a sticker on the outside. Definitely “refurbished” but I can’t find a thing on them that really identifies them as such.

I relied on Wario64's notification to get one early on during launch. Of course, I haven't played it much since SNES games were added Switch Online lul.
Should probably sell mine at this point.

I was a bit disappointed by this, however the units inside look as brand new as they can.

Other than packaging, yeah. Refurbished stuff typically comes in generic packaging, they can't sell it as new, but the inside contents should appear to be a new console.

It's called Hakchi2 and it's actually super, super easy to do as long as you have the emulator files. Totally and legally acquired, of course. 😉

https://sourceforge.net/p/snes-mod-with-hakchi2/wiki/Home/

You can use either the default emulator that comes with the SNES classic or switch it over to Retroarch for a bit more compatibility and to add other systems games. However the space is limited unless you want to complicate things a bit by adding a memory stick through one of the controller ports.

I kept mine to just SNES titles.
