Microcenter Powerspec Duplicator i3 Mini 3d printer, shipped!

Is this a good starter 3d printer? I was thinking about picking one up. Any suggestions or tips for total newbs?

I was looking at the ender 3 pro, how does this stack up to that, since its only 75 more now.

Ender 3 Pro is much better, not much comparison there.

I have the Maker Select Mini as a 2nd printer, its essentially the same as the Duplicator mini.

I'm happy with my mini, it took some work to fix it's short comings. Although prior to me working on it, it printed PLA just fine. The biggest issue is the heated bed will need to have its wires rerouted out the back as they have a tendency to have abrasion and get cut. If you do that one simple fix, its a great little PLA printer.

Man, I don't know what was going on with his printer. My Maker Select Mini hasn't had any of those problems.
I think i might try it for $119 ... put it to work making basic stuff

Shows at 159.99 now, was going to purchase one this morning but meh at 160 you're better off going with a bigger one for not much more imo.

Yeah I grabbed one before it went up. I still have to pick it up though. So I still have time to change my mind.

Yeah, at $120 its a good price. Any more than that, just go for the Ender 3. I have both Ender 3 Pro and a Mini. Ender is much better, but I'm a big fan of my mini as it cranks out PLA parts very fast while the Ender is doing bigger jobs.

The only mod I think you need to do right away with the Mini is to reroute the heated bed wires, as they will eventually fail.

Then eventually scrape off the stock build surface and replace it with one of these and hold it with binder clips.

After those two quick mods, you'll have a reliable PLA machine.

Is Microcenter still in business?

Doing very well in Dallas (though COVID-19 had some negative effect I'm sure). The 4 Fry's stores in the metroplex on the other hand.....it is a wonder they are still in business.

I haven't been to a Fry's since December (and not in Texas), did they get any inventory since then? It was depressing.
