2015 Samsung 4k TV as a Monitor Set Up Guide

Ooof. This tv has a horrific blue tint to it. Read somewhere on the net that this may be due to it living most of its life with the backlight turned waaay up. Reset to factory defaults, updated from 12x firmware to 15x with no change. RGB mode, full, 4k 60hz resolution. Both PC and game mode look like this. Trying to adjust it out best I can with tv settings (2 point gain settings) and nvidia desktop color settings... not getting very far.

Any tips?

Interesting....i'll look into that. Not sure exactly what is wrong with this TV yet. Seems overly blue and very washed out to me. Spent the last 4 hours dicking with it, played some rdr2 @ 4k on a 2070. Looks horrific when game mode is activated. Only HDMI 1 can activate the UHD color mode.

I have the 48” curved version of this TV. I used rtings settings as a baseline.

Anyone have experience with the samsung UN43NU6900 as a pc monitor? I currently have a 35" 3440x1440 100hz monoprice that is moving to a different desk. My previous experience with a 43" 4k tv was bad as it wasn't far enough back, used RGBW, and it was a sceptre.

This is a great guide. I didn't read the entire thread,l so if this was already said then my apologies...

On these TVs. If you leave it on standard with the eco bullshit on... It will dim your screen at night. Drove me crazy until I put it on "entertainment".

But absolutely a great guide.

Yeah, the only thing I do not like about this TV is that if you did not use V Sync or cap the fps to 60, you get terrible screen tearing in games. Otherwise, this screen is really good and the guide was really helpful.

I do like it. The "curve" is sort of laughable at least for me with a 40 inch screen, But overall a great buy.

I have the flat 43 inch model from 2017 but, it is still a good one. (Although, I would not mind having the curved one, myself.)

Alright, so I retired the JS9000 from desktop use back in December, and moved it to the bed room for use as a normal TV.

Didn't take long for my better half to lose the remote.

The proper remote is apparently a Samsung BN59-01220E, which go for over a hundred bucks, which is insane!

Must be because of that useless WiiMote, pointer and voice nonsense they shipped with, which I never used in 5 years of ownership.

Does anyone know of any cheaper compatible remotes?

My JU6700 has the motion nonsense but no voice control... The cheap buncha-buttons remote from the J5200 I also have controls everything just fine. It's a BN59-01199F

Thank you. I will look for one of those.

Edit:

3rd party replacement is $5.99 on Amazon with Prime. That's more like it.

I love not paying for junk I don't need!

Here's a fun fact that I was not aware of... There is space between the clear/satin glare defusing layer and the rest of the LCD panel in my JU6700. I know this because there's a damned bug wandering around in mine. At first I thought it was just another stupid Google thing because I initially saw it in a YT video but no, it's not constrained to any particular app it's really there inside my screen and irritating me to no end.

Any thoughts on how to get a tiny fly out of a 48" screen before it does front and center just to really make my day?

Squirt some meat pate close to the edge.
Dont do that, seriously!
The vapours from it could cause worse damage,

The only thing you can do is wait and see, then take it apart if luck isnt on your side.
A shop can do it for you, call for a quote.

I have been using my J9000 with these settings for four or five years. I tried to fix scaling on a particular program and now everything is slightly blurry. Any suggestions? I would greatly appreciate it.

I wish I could help you but I gave up and and now using my u6900 on my XBox One X and it works great there. I got tired of the screen tearing when playing games and not using HDR when in Windows nor having the option.

I also moved on to that 43" Asus ROG Free-Sync / G-Sync Compatible screen (forget the model number right now)

The Samsung screen served me well, but I really wanted something with variable refresh.

The Samsung TV now serves as an actual TV in the bedroom.

As far as the Asus screen goes, I'm not a huge fan. It is great in games, but most of what I do is not ganes. Font quality is pretty bad and it drives me nuts. Luckily most of my reading is on my side screens.

I am low key looking into something else. Newer LG OLED's with VRR seem very popular.

My Sony XBR-43X800D lasted 4 years before it started blinking red 6 times in a row last week. I looked up the code for it and it had 4 suggestion something about edge light going out. The TV would work for like 45 seconds before it started to blink then black screen. Went online and started researching only to find out the 43 inch class with what I wanted (HDMI 2.1, Android) is small. I ended up buying and updated same model X800H which is a 2020 model. Best Buy had free next day shipping to my door.
It has a bug that is annoying but easy to fix that I have to do several times a day.
I just wish there were more choices in the 43 inch class.

This thread is obviously a little dated - anyone using one of the newer models (like the 2021 QN90A) as a monitor? I've been really, really happy with my KS8000, but am interested in something that can handle VRR and HDMI 2.1 functionality. Reviews at RTINGS seem strong in the PC monitor and HDR gaming categories...which is basically my #1 use case.

LG CX or GX I have the GX and blows it away

But burn in? I do a lot of "productivity" which tends to leave things in large portions of the screen static.
Just be smart and get a warranty vs the 1 year, I got it at Costco and get the costco card + 5 years, Best buy also has a good option with their warranty.

I don't use this TV as a monitor anymore (it has been moved to bedroom TV duty but I found the "entertain" to be a real eyeball scorcher. I could barely look at the thing with it set to that mode. I did turn ECO mode off though, and kept backpanel brightness at about a 7.
