Got up at 8 AM this morning and low and behold, the Houston Micro Center had no less than 7 different motherboards in stock. I picked up a Gigabyte Aorus Pro wifi X570 board (one of 3 they had in stock). As I write this now they are out of stock on the pro board. They were listing 10+ Asus X570 TUG Gaming Wifi boards and are now down to 5. They had 7 Gigabyte Aorus Elite wifi X570 boards and are now down to two. Down to 2 Asus X570-P Primes, 1 Asus Crosshair VIII Herro Wifi, & one MSI MEG Godlike and I forget the other board they ahd it was gone after the first refresh this morning and I forgot to write it down. Go get em boys and girls, because they are going, going... (well you know).

Man I feel very fortunate to have built my ryzen system 1 week before the all stop command was issued. Prices weren't ridiculous and stock was not an issue then.

Yeah, it's been a bear just finding a board, but luckily Micro Center had their normal prices for their motherboards. Now all I am waiting on is my new Coolermaster Mastercase H500P Mesh case. I had to order it from Amazon because it looks like Frys quit carrying much of anything Coolermaster and Micro Center did not have a Cooler Master mid tower cse that would hold my 200mm long EVGA power supply (hard drive cages in the way).

So why is X570 so hard to find? I don't keep up with AMD motherboard supply issues, is it because of covid or a new X670 is coming out for the new Ryzen? And LOL at the $800 for a motherboard.

It's not just x570.. It's AMD motherboards of any type. B450 boards are also thin on the ground. I have no idea about Intel boards because I haven't bothered to look up anything about them. The issue is with supply chain disruptions. Exports from China and other places slowed. Even when shipments get to the US it's likely they're not getting out of customs or whatever very quickly. Beyond that disruptions inside the US will slow things down further. This all leads into low supply and high demand.

This isn't affecting motherboards only. There are plenty of other computer components which are tough to get. Finding a decent power supply is practically a nightmare.

My son recently took a summer job at a local computer place. Before Covid stuff started the owner had full inventory. Since then he's been wiped out of stock. A lot of people needed systems so they could work from home which increased demand well above normal. That probably wouldn't have been an issue but he's having a hell of a time getting restocked due to supply chain issues and the increased demand all over having wiped out a lot of stock well above normal levels.

I have a feeling supply will be further disrupted, and prices will be going up.

I was lucky to get an Asus TUF X570 from Best Buy. Trying to find a power supply is a different story.

I truly hate those ass-clowns that do this stuff, they are truly the wart of modern society. I was lucky enough to get a Gigabyte X570 Aorus Elite before all of this hoarding and overpriced scalping started happening.

I also hate it when they say it sells for $xxx.xx on Ebay or Amazon just because it is listed at that price there does not mean people actually buy it there at that price

The new ass-hatery thing is they get off lease office PCs and sell them as a "gaming" PCs I see Dell OptiPlex 7010-9010 (third Gen Core processor) that they are trying to sell for $600 as a "gaming" just because they added a "better" GPU does not make it a "gaming" PC. I even see the 3010 (the crappy entry level H61 chipset) that they want an outragious price for. They want even more $ for the 7020-9020 (forth gen Core processor)

As my old boss said about lawyers, "Leeches on the ass of humanity."

X570 boards ... MSI, ASUS, AsRock available over at Newegg so I fail to see what the OP is talking about regarding low to no stock - made it sound like they scored the impossible. "Got up at 8 AM"

Covid aside, AMD screwed up their 500 series board launch.
Ideally A520 for Apu to 3100, b550 enthusiast midrange 3300x-8c, x570 8c-16c should have been the segmentation.

We should not have seen x570 on its own trying to cover the Zen+/Zen2 catalog at launch with boards not suitable for more than 8c and no OC recommended by reviewers with thermal cams.

B550 shouldnt have $300 boards in it's segment overlapping mid tier x570 with a 3900x as a gaming option. Yeah 3300x should have been launched at the same time as everything else but then 3600 wouldn't have sold as well.

I can walk into my local stores and find x570 at MSRP, people just don't want to spend that much in my area.
I'm starting to think AMD pushing the use case beyond 3300x/3600 as a halo move was incorrect. 3300x on $200 b550 would have been the only story with gaming benchmarks to back it up.

B450 has been drained off and deprecated, B550 will trickle in.
The upcoming A520 chipset will be a hit if they can copy paste b450/x470 and keep the prices low. Someone will make a stupid $$$ near B550 priced board that will be the pick like b450 tomahawk was.

I can't think of many employers that'll let you white box a work machine.
A desktop is kind of a 2nd box to the issued laptop pre covid.

There was a stagnation in PC parts, Ryzen has been of great interest bc of it's pre Zen2 low cost. A year later I can see a 3300x A520 combo butting up against a Zen3 low core high freq b550 combo as the hot ticket for gamers.

It's all kinda slamming into each other.

Oh, here's another CL post you guys will find amusing.
