Lots of people can't touch microcenters discount, literally because they don't have them in very many locations. I'm not driving for over 8 hours to save a couple $'s. Their prices are great for the few that have them near by, for everyone else, deals on eBay, Amazon, newegg, etc are where its at. That said, this isn't really a great deal as it's been about the same for a little while now.

I bought one of these for $329 late 2019 online (Amazon I think) with Borderlands 3, Outerworlds, and the Xbox code. So it could be hotter...

I still wish there was an option to disable any threads with the word Microcenter in the title. We used to have one in Santa Clara. They "said" they'd reopen but never did. F'ing Bay Area rental costs...

also didn't help at that time that they were competing with fry's which had way better locations in the bay area. trying to get to the MC in santa clara sucked if you didn't live in the area.

I so feel your pain, I lived within 5 miles of the Tustin one for the longest time, had to move to the Bay for work right after they closed the Santa Clara one. 7 years later the Tustin one is still going strong but none around these parts...I miss MC as much as OC weather lol..driving 6 hours down on the 5 more than negates the deal though may still do it one day for shits and giggles once Covid is done lol

Why is it every time someone posts a non microcenter deal someone else has the urge to swing by and tell us how microcenter deals are so much better?

No clue, that was my point that there is a limited # of micro center locations. However, this deal has been the same price for some time now (eBay & Amazon), but still a great buy!

Whenever I build a machine with new parts, the CPU at a minimum comes from Microcenter, and often the motherboard too.

Since 4000 series CPUs are clearly in the works (September?), I have to wonder when the prices for 3000 chips are going to see another drop.

I bought mine for $329 like 4 months ago on a price mistake at BB. Great CPU.

Amazon has 3900x for $90 more. Worth it for +%50 cores ,no ?
My thoughts are that if you use your computer for anything other than exclusively gaming. (Meaning, even having a browser going in the background while gaming). More cores are always better.

Also I think the 3900X is better in single core performance anyway due to more Cache? I'd have to double check that.

MOAR CORES is my thought. In all seriousness I need to upgrade from a 4770k. FIguring 32G ram + motherboard + 3700x is about $600 for 8 cores/16thr, why not pay an extra $90 for 12 cores/24 threads?

I've currently running a 1700X I can run at nearly 4GHz if I want to, so I figure it's not worth upgrading to another 8C16T cpu, yet. I'm going to wait until he 4000 series comes out, and then either go for a 3900X or a newer CPU, depending on the change in price/performance.

The 3900x with the cache increase and more cores is priced too close for the 3800x to make sense, imho.

You guys all killing me. I had decided on a 3600X, then after browsing these forums for months the 3800x, and now this. Please stop.:D

It technically has more cache since it has another CCX, but that doesn't mean it's any better for gaming. Each CCX is 16MB of cache and the cores within that CCX can only access that CCX's cache. 3900x is technically 100mhz faster out of the box which is what would make it marginally faster for gaming, but all the single threaded benchmarks i've seen show very little difference between the 3800x/3900x.

Heh, the 3300x would be a nice jump in gaming performance over that 4770k. I'm looking at it to swap my son's 6600k out as it beats it in everything single or multi core and beats the 7700k in like 99% of the cases (which would be the best CPU I could upgrade him to without a new MB). That CPU used costs as much as a new MB + CPU upgrade that is faster all around.
