3.2TB SSD for $240

Joining the club! I got a brand new 6400GB SX350 on the way, offered $400 and it was accepted (they have 9 left). Do these SX350 6400GB run as hot as the SX300 and earlier? Also, doesn't seem to be much benefit by going with 75w (looks like only write speed goes up a small amount), so should it be OK at 25w without dedicated cooling?

I wouldn't expect much difference temp-wise from the SX350. I'm pretty sure it's the same controller as the SX300 and the only difference is the NAND used. Might as well go 75W if you can.

Search for 233547436789 . By the way i offered $400 first and it was auto-accepted instantly, then later i tried $350 and that was declined the next day. Interested to know if i nailed the bottom end of some "auto-accept" range??
Thats a mighty fine price! The SX350 is roughly the same temps as the SX300. Careful when you try to update the firmware since it's Lenovo branded, some of the Sandisk/WD firmwares won't work and have to grab from lenovo or edit the installation.

I wouldn't expect much difference temp-wise from the SX350. I'm pretty sure it's the same controller as the SX300 and the only difference is the NAND used. Might as well go 75W if you can.

I wanted to buy one of the cards aznpotpie had listed, but alas, as this is my first post I could not PM or post in his for sale thread. Kept checking eBay every few days and spotted the card for $200 as a "buy it now" so I jumped on it.

Will report back once it's up and running.

Yea I got seller endeavor-20 down to $200 from $490 via message then I saw he updated the price, but I had already offered and got accepted for the 6.4TB new drive. Good job sniping it! Glad someone here got it.

Seems I am about 3 months late as the 6.4 are now listed for $800 +. Still need to do more reading to understand how well they are supported in Linux(Debian Buster).

Warranty would be from seller, from what I understand the warranty doesnt transfer. also there haven’t been made in a long time and the box has a production date of 2017. Assuming if they are new, in order to use newest driver you would need to update the firmware.

So I have a drive thats acting the same way. for the love of me, I can’t figure out how to fix this.

To have fio-status -a show properly you can only mix the sx300 and sx350. Capacity doesn’t seem to matter, only the generation. You would have to look on their site, the only Lenovo I have is a dud and if I recall, some of the dell firmware worked while others didnt (Might be wrong since I been through so many duds recently and I am not responsible if you try it!). HP was a little PITA but I found newer ones for my cards.

edit- it’s late at night ugh sorry but if I
remember correctly there should be instructions somewhere online detailing how to edit the firmware to change the hardware ID to force a different firmware onto it or something like that

You have to see if the drive is a VSL 3 or 4 driver type. The documentation lists which drives (ioScale, ioDrive, SX3xx, ioMemory, ect) belong to which driver series. You can mix and match drives of various lines and capacities as long as they're part of the same driver type.
 
Where do you see Debian or Ubuntu in that list? ;-)
Sandisk/WD drivers show that there's a driver for Ubuntu 16.04, so there hope? I have a friend who told me it worked in a previous version of Ubuntu but that was a while ago.

At least in W10, it seems you can trick the VSL 3 (ioScale) and VSL 4 (SX300/SX350) drives to work in the same OS but command lines such as "fio-status -a" only shows VSL 4 drives.

Wondering if there is a 4.3.3 firmware as well, or if you're supposed to use 4.2.5 firmware with 4.3.3 drivers
On WD/Sandisk webiste there is a firmware for each driver revision. However most of the time you an run a driver with a slightly older firmware since sometimes going from small driver revisions (ie 4.3.5 to 4.3.7) there isn't much of a change. Upon reading more into it, there is a method to n edit the firmware to place your product number to force the open firmware onto a branded card.

I did that in my TR 1950x system with the two 3.2 drives that’s a gigabyte board with 5 pcie slot. Initially I was going to put the 6.4 and 3.2 in that system and put a 3.2 upstairs in my 1920x system with Asrock board I’ve got roughly 5 or 6Tb of games though. I’ve still got some spare room on the 1950x so I figured I’d put it on the Asrock. Being the cheapest TR board that Asrock phantom gaming only has 3 pcie slots. I kind of want a NuAudio card for it too so having 2 smaller fusion io drieCS wouldn’t work and would force me to nvme otherwise, I have some decent stereo equipment up here but can’t be getting into outboard DACs and such there isn’t enough room. I mean sure it’s complete overkill for a system that’s basically a media server for 3 rooms and I mainly game a bit on a lazy weekend or before bed. The price though is hard to refuse, the 3.2s are treating me well.
 
I tried the Max # of offers below after hearing $400 would auto accept they all rejected and $400 auto accepted.

doubtful unless It’s some sort of software issue that can be corrected with a flash or firmware, almost sounds like a chip went bad or controller issue,

It loves CPU power especially clock speed. I notice a difference on my 7980XE going from stock to 4.7GHZ. I wonder if these come with 0 out of the factory? Reason I ask is because the lowest I ever gotten one was in the couple thundered MB write.

I think it's dead, I had another one with the same LEB map issue. Did a firmware update incrementally and eventually it spewed out a "hardware fault" issue on "fio-status -a:"

I get that error now.

I uninstalled the old driver for the 825GB and removed it from my system, and reinstalled the dell sx350 driver, and still no joy.

It started doing this last night. I had the 3.2TB and the older 825GB and both were working fine. Just not able to run fio-status.

EDIT:
I think I found the issue, and this is weird.
Since this issue just popped up last night, the only change I made to my computer recently was installing the VA Citrix Workspace App.

I uninstalled it, and then ran fio-status again and it worked perfectly fine.

I dont know why the Citrix program and the VSL 4 driver dont play nicely together, but I guess its a thing.

FYI this 3.2TB is down to $216 from $260, had 2, 1 left : 264700376848

I also got my new SX350 6.4TB. I went with dd_fusion-io_iomemory_sx300_350_4.3.3_x64_windows.exe and did not touch the firmware, and here is what it says. I did set it to 75w although I think it already was set to 75w.

Anyone know how old/new Firmware v8.9.6 is? I have a 4.3.3 firmware I could put on it.
