seems like there's a long waiting time to get a hold of paypal customer support due to CV-19.

The 'brother' that was shipped it to is only about an hour away from me. Definately seems fishy to ship it to Alabama and then ship it back to California. Why not ask me to ship to his 'brother' directly? It would have been like 1 day shipping.

Advisable to drive over and ask why that video was made? Where he bought it from?

We are about to witness only the second known brother fucking! Can't believe I am alive to see it.

Sure, just make sure to take a baseball bat with you. You're already going to be wasting time dealing with the idiots over at PP so I would waste as little time as possible on the actual scammers.

I just lurk and also have under 500 posts, hope you get this resolved. The way that guy opened the box showed no surprise whatsoever that it had two hard drives in it. Looked like he totally expected the scam.

man this is how people on ebay been doing me the last few months. I won like 2 out of 5 cases. I wish you the best OP

you sell something... then they say item not as described and 2 things may happen they destroy the item or remove it and say nothing is in the box.

Not to disagree, we I think 500 is too much, but you have nearly 800 posts.
I didn't actually look, but still... 800 posts over almost 20 years... (I think 9 years by my registered date) and that's all recently since they stopped posting news.

Updated post with an email i received just now. Anyone know how to download the hippovideo?

Serves that Than guy right, reduced your price just to resell it for profit. Greed and lying (lol 'sold to brother') got him this time, hopefully you come out in the clear. Reselling should automatically put paypal in your favor. Of course it's paypal and less than stranger things have happened, but as long as someone is getting screwed(Than) and not paypal all should be good. Email should just be gravy.

EDIT: Just saw the 500 posts suggestion, count me in with the 100 posts/1yr registered crowd :)

Nah, he just admitted to lying. You are in the clear. If he paid via PayPal gift he has no protection.

Yeah, he needs to take it up with eBay, not you. He should know what 2 her feels like in a box, and knows it was sealed when he got it and not sealed in their video....

Edit - your last message posted while I was typing. That's crappy. If it was sent F&F without protection, then how did he get it back???

Reseller probably did a CC chargeback, in which case PP would have pulled it from the OP's balance to cover it.

If it was sent F&F how does that give the buyer any rights either? If the seller has none.

If you look at his history, he's sold a 2080 Ti before as well. Seems he thought he could make a quick buck selling OPs 2080 Ti and he got burned and tried to get OP to pay for him. Definitely a scumbag and should never be allowed to come back here.

Edit: He also got a negative review for trying to go outside of eBay on a buyer and canceled when they didn't agree to his scam.

Does anyone know if NVIDIA will invalidate the warranty if the OP contacts them and says the card was stolen? If so, I'd at least give it a shot (assuming NVIDIA allows warranty transfers).

just my two cents but first off u shouldn't have done paypal f&f cause u have no seller's protection. u practically screwed yourself in doing so. for a gpu that costs that much, it would have to be heavy insured, signed for on delivery, videoed taped the whole nine yards. I'll be damned if some fking SOB is going to rob me of my hard earned money/merchandise.

I've had good luck selling on here, at least it's better than ebay for sure.

I also don't necessarily take the first offer I get. If someone messages me with no history I will wait for a more seasoned buyer.

Also, the scammers seem to love the 2080 Ti. I tried to sell my used 2080 Ti on ebay and I had bunk buyers twice (telling me they didn't have the money after the auction ended).

Ended up selling here and it was a good sale, but you always have to be careful.

What I do on eBay is I simply cancel their bids if they lack credible feedback. That's worked out pretty well so far.

I'm so mad on behalf of op. Most of us would kill for a 2080Ti and he sold it for a ridiculously sweet price only for it to fall into the hands of this mondo-douche.

He bought it just to flip it for profit and (possibly) got himself burned, though I suspect this is a big charade and OP is the only victim. I can't believe this guy had the audacity to throw it right up on ebay using the same picture from the fs thread here..

I think a lot of us were under the impression that F&F payments on paypal had no protection for the BUYER and protected the seller since there was no way for F&F buyers to make a claim.. But now we know a credit card and a strong dose of a-hole can get you right around there.. No more knocking off 3% for F&F buyers for sure. Hard lesson in reality here.

P.S. Is there any truth to what op said regarding his threat to file suit for grand theft? I feel like he's up dookie creek but would love to see him made whole...

I mean, yeah, technically it's a crime.

Not sure if it's worth persuing legally, but I would love to see the scammer and/or schemer get what's coming.

That's what I figured.. Anyway, maybe the threat of a lawsuit will make this guy wet his pants a bit though, maybe enough to send OP his $800 back and be done with it...

Wow man that is something like out of a movie- I feel bad for you.

What I can suggest to everyone- do not take Paypal Friends and Family unless you are 100% sure in the person you are dealing with.

Reason being- even if they pay with PP Gift- they can file charge back etc if the card was stolen....

I had something happen similar to this few years ago- I called out the other side on all of the forums he was on and at the end he gave me a BS Story and dropped the claim and I got my money back. It was for $500 cpu and mobo combo.

Looks like I dealt with this person- over @ techpowerup forums. Let me see if they are active and inform the admins there.

Keep us posted.

I mean, it's a bad situation - but the dude needs to eat his tab for selling on eBay.
