This game looks incredibly fun but I didn’t get in on the original closed beta.

Another closed beta starts tomorrow.

Initially they were only allowing you in the beta last week ( If you were lucky enough ) if you linked your twitch.tv profile to your valorant profile ( which you can create for free on their site ) and watching the pro streamers stream. It would randomly drop invites if you were all linked up.

This to me seems like a blend of CS:GO and Overwatch in a sense. Which is something I’ll love for sure. Whoever has played it has said its SUPER fun and competitive. And it looks like older hardware will have no problem at all running this game.

Check it out! Let us know you guys will be playing!

I think this game is overhyped because Riot is putting a lot of marketing dollars behind it, especially with big name streamers. After watching it for an hour I think it will never reach CS Go levels, the overwatch like abilities will end up being its Achilles heel. It also looks like a mobile game and doesn't have that counterstrike feel.

Totally get it, but i still badly want to try it.

Hopefully i can get into the beta. My only complaint is that the game looks washed out?? Kinda very bland??

I think that's the problem with a lot of modern games in general.

Games like CS GO and Quake have depth like the mariana trench and do it without the gimmicky bullshit.

I'm excited to try it but it legit looks like janky mobile CS as it stands.

Ah, yes, the game trying to top the level of astroturfing EA did with Apex Legends.

I was somewhat excited when I heard this was going to be a game like Counter Strike. Once I saw it being played and realized they added weird abilities similar to Overwatch it completely killed any interest for me. Its still too early but it looks like It will be a decent game just not the game for me. Same reason I'm not a fan of Apex and would rather play Pubg. I like my shooters to be mainly focused on the gunplay and not some crazy ability that the characters have.

I have my phone logged into twitch.tv , signed in and just streaming that idiot summits stream.

hopefully I come back to some sort of beta invite lol.

didnt get shit, you?

I am thinking once viewership drops, they will start sending out access to keep others watching.

I haven’t gotten anything yet. There are still 1.4 million viewers on Twitch and the gameplay is starting to bore me.

I want to try it too. I had a few streams open today. no key. theres too many viewers and very little keys.

That's how you create hype. Riot is doing a great job with marketing.
yeah, people are really interested in the game. theres 500k watching now and drops are over. too bad they cant release the game this month while the stay home order is active.

This game looks generic as hell, absolutely no appeal to me.
We're not the target demographic.

This company knows exactly what it's doing with CS:FortWatch. It looks the way it does to maximize installbase with the lowest minspec. Everything is deliberate, it's as far from "let's hope it goes viral" as games get. This is not Apex Legends or Lawbreakers or an experiment. A ton of money and man-hours in this project.

This game has been getting polished, focusgrouped and playtested for a looong time. You and I will never play it, but only because it's generation-gapped - it'll be catnip to kids and zoomers. I expect this to be Riot's next juggernaut.

And just like that, everyone forgot about Legends of Runeterra.

They are pretty smart, taking the best parts of a few different FPS, putting 120 tick servers as standard and really working on the netcode. I imagine it will be a hit but I'm not sure if it will pull me away from Siege full time. I'll give it a try though.

The only thing that doesn't make sense is the name. It's a nothing word, a placeholder, like the name of a cheap cosmetics company, scooter manufacturer, or the name of the latest Kardashian hatchling.

For the name alone this game must go down in flames.
like haagen-dazs ice cream

The name is catchy, especially with zoomers so it works. This is the mumble rap generation that wears pink underwear and skirts so anything edgy is awesome.

It is an improper use of the "ant" suffix, but technically so is the word "combatant." In a way it makes sense: If "combatant" is one who engages in or serves in the capacity of combat, then "valorant" is one who engages in or serves in the capacity of valor.

nice, whos stream did you get it from?

I actually wasn't actively watching anyone when I got it, it showed up in my email while I was making coffee this morning. They posted that if you watch a minimum of two hours you will be permanently in the pool and don't have to continue watching. If you do continue to watch, each hour will slightly increase your chances with diminishing returns. Before that I had about 30 hours between WarOwl and Summit1g, mainly just with it running in the background.

Here's the post with the details on the selection process:

Damn, the way these assholes organized this pisses me off. Just make it easy for the guys that want to try it out.

making you watch these assholes is annoying lol.

that’s crazy that they actually posted the limit required to get into the “pool” of beta players

I strongly prefer Quake/UT to CS but this looks fun. I like the low detail style. Everything looks nice and visible.

Don't mind abilities. So long as there are no free frags/escape abilities, like in Quake Champions :)shivers:), it should be fine.

I need a new MP FPS. Just god back to TF2 and have to say its glory days are long gone. Still fun but finding a good server is quite a challenge

Surprised this hasn't gotten attention. Valorant uses a kernel-level anti-cheat solution that is causing performance issues in other games. Capcom got bulldozed by the internet when they introduced such an anti-cheat in SFV years ago and had to rollback to their previous solution due to the backlash. If you've been having unexplained performance issues in other games since installing the game then this is why.

More info from developer:

Valorant uses a kernel-level anti-cheat solution
Which is quite normal and something the most effective anti-cheats do. The ones which don't run at a kernel level are relatively easy to bypass. Game's in beta and hasn't even been released yet, there's bound to be a few hitches to still resolve. If anything, the public beta seems to have been quite successful so far with the lack of glaring issues.

I've played a bit.

It feels like a half finished mobile game aimed. Coming from a CS:GO player, this isn't anything like and the whole orbs and ice walls just don't really fit.

Loads of hype, but I fear this will be DOA.

I'll pass.

No its not normal, stop making excuses for this crap. Riot is 100% Chinese owned as well, how many people know that? An elevated Admin level driver also opens it up to be exploited by nefarious hackers, not just cheat makers and we're supposed to take Chinese owned Riots word that all is OK? Lol no thx.

Anti cheat software running at the kernel level is indeed quite normal. This is a simple factual statement, not an argument. Never said anything about china, hackers, riot, exploits or making excuses. That's a completely different discussion.

I simply said that the most effective AC software (eg. ESEA, BattleEye, FaceIt) runs at the kernel level, this is a fact. Also said that the ACs which do not run at the kernel level are relatively easy to bypass, also a fact.

I keep trying for a key but no luck as of yet.
I get that some of you might not like it, but saying it's DOA is being naive.
Riot games won't let it die.
If League is still the most popular game in the world by a wide margin, I fail to see how they won't push this one also.

None of those run at kernel level on boot and they don't turn on unless the game is active. I just checked my active processes and neither battleeye or esea are active.

They all run at kernel level, which was the point. Even older ACs like Punkbuster used to run at Kernel level many years ago. It's been the status quo for a long time with multiplayer games on PC.

Still annoyed they made it this difficult just to try the fucking game.

I haven’t tried watching a stream since the first time .
