Haven't even seen the movie. Was hoping this was a game release, but it's not :(

"Although no announcement accompanied this early launch, Disney noted the coronavirus outbreak, a national emergency which has millions choosing to stay indoors by themselves, as a reason for delivering Frozen 2 three months early. Disney said on Friday that it wanted to give families “some fun and joy during this challenging period.” Frozen 2 had been slated for a June 26 digital launch; it’ll arrive on Sunday, March 15.

Although our review wasn’t sweet on it (and few reviewers were), The Rise of Skywalker is, still, a Star Wars flick. And with the novelization due on shelves on March 17 (warning: spoilers), it might be worth a rewatch in light of the new contexts the book will provide."

Saw it last night, wasn't as bad as some made it out to be. But then this kind of movie is really more of a workout for a good screen and sound system than a philosophical meditation.

That said, keep JJ Abrams away from any more movies.

I watched it yesterday too. It was ok but felt kinda meh like the last two movies were.

That's a pretty accurate review. It was better than The Last Jedi, mostly because that one just ignored everything from The Force Awakens and decided to go all nutty, but it wasn't great. Had very bad pacing issues as a result.

I just hope next time they spend the time before hand to develop a good plot and don't rush shit out. Also they need to reign in directors, with a franchise like this the "all-powerful writer/director" needs to go away. No, you have other people work on the script and you get someone who will follow it, not get all up their own ass about how they want it done.

Between 1917 and Sonic I now have a lot of movies I'd like to see. Didn't expect all 3 to come out so close together. Star Wars is probably meh, last one is pretty bad, but I'll still give it a go.

how is the 4K Dolby Vision transfer?...I plan on getting the physical 4K disc but if the digital 4K version looks excellent that bodes well for the disc...the movie itself was OK...Kylo was a terrible main villain which ruined the entire story...bringing back Palpatine just for him to go out again at the hands of Rey was silly...his death at the hands of Vader was much more epic and should have been his final appearance

overall this new trilogy was a wasted opportunity...the prequel trilogy was much better...George Lucas does a much better job with world building- new planets, cool weapons, cool villains, light saber fights etc...there wasn't a single memorable light saber fight in this entire new trilogy...the Rey/Kylo vs Praetorian Guard sequence from Last Jedi wins by default...I didn't like Last Jedi but looking back on it now I appreciate it more and it's probably the best of this new trilogy

I got about 15 mins in so far, and just had to shut it off. I know ill watch it at some point, but there was absolutely no coherent flow to this latest star wars sh*tshow.

I saw it at LucasFilm in the Prescido (SF) way back when, and yeah, wasn't a big fan of the movie had some moments, had some other WTF moments like
Riding horse thingies on the outside of a star destroyer? And with no space masks or anything? If the Emperor could shoot lightning from his fingers and literally destroy space ships from the ground why did he use that weak ass shit against Luke in RotJ? And when did he get the power to suck the force power out of someone? And oh yeah some how a bunch of servants can build hundreds of star destroyers and oh yeah we figured out how to miniaturize the death star cannon and it's power source and can blow up planets all willy nilly meanwhile you had literally suck the power of a whole star to blow up a planet with another planet death star sized thing...
They also released Frozen 2 early too apparently.

Yeah, the new Star Wars have only been okay for me. Like enjoyable in the same way a Michael Bay movie is enjoyable, but not that great really.

Rouge One was a legit awesome movie, and can stand alone without any other film in the franchise and it would still be good.

I was real excited after I saw Rogue One. Such a well done movie I figured Disney was on shit. I mean The Force Awakens wasn't great but I gave it a pass because I figured they had to do a lot of shit in a short movie to get everything reestablished so it wasn't going to be amazing. However Rogue One was awesome so I figured there were great things to come... Well man was I wrong on that. Disney was far more concerned about cranking out a movie per year than making a good movie.

As you said they aren't AWFUL, they were enjoyable like maybe C to C+ quality but that's it. I wouldn't have gone to see Solo or The Last Jedi except my boss likes to take us all out to Star Wars movies on his dollar. I hope they've figured it out now and won't release more crap, but I'm not optimistic.

Rogue One was shockingly good *relative to* the other films - especially the battle sequences.

My dream Star Wars has always been a dark, R-Rated _war_ movie -- a SciFi Private Ryan. With Neutral Evil bad guys - stone killers - not temper tantruming "villains" stuck in 70's charicatures that come across as self-parody. Because if you're going to fly the M.F. Empire flag, have the subterfuge found in third graders not to be bumbling Hogan's Heroes every moment.

But it's Disney so theres no room for dark edges or borderline horror, it's gotta be mass appeal from all angles. They've got their Avengers bar now where everything has to shoot for Billion dollar box-office.

The first three episodes of Mandalorian showed signs of life tonally, but dropped the ball thereafter. But It's something.

Alas, god loves watching us sweat like a priest in a whorehouse over things we really want that he'll never give us. :)

You mean the plot holes they are trying to patch after the fact? If you have to put out books and comics to add context for a movie to make sense, it's a shitty movie. They are just reacting to fan backlash in the cheapest ways possible and from what I understand, it's not helping.

It's not great, but it's decent. It's certainly better than its reputation makes it out to be.

they obviously planned for a sequel hence the Darth Maul cameo at the end...too bad a sequel seems unlikely at this point

I will admit some parts were enjoyable but overall it was average at best. Still better than the prequels, but then what isn't?
psh. The new ones and the originals barely mention the intricacies of intergalactic trade law.

Have been enjoying some of these new movies, watched sonic last night with the family and I was pleasantly surprised by it. Enjoyed it alot more than I was expecting to and there were enough little Easter eggs for old sonic fans that made me happy. Have 1917 ready for me and the wife next, and plan on adding starwars to the list here shortly. Also heard universal is planning on making the invisible man available this friday which has my wife pumped, she really wanted to see it in theaters but we never got the chance.

That's about when I decided not to be a star wars apologist.

The Last Jedi.

Nah, Last Jedi holds up better than those, at least the last two prequels. It had the guts to ask some important questions (why do we put so much emphasis on heroes instead of common people? Is self-sacrifice noble or just stupid?). Well, that and it's fun to watch overgrown boys throw temper tantrums because Luke didn't fulfill their childhood power fantasies.

Really? I've stayed away from Sonic because... video game movie, how good can it be.

As for 1917, saw that with a friend in the Dolby Labs, and holy shit it works as a movie. I would say watch it and a dark room and tell your wife to not talk or ask questions or comment, just to get immersed in it

Is it the best movie ever? Nope, but its good with some nice funny parts and a good pace to it. personally I thought Jim Carrey played his role great, was very old school Carrey having a Liar Liar era sort of acting and it worked so good for the movie.
yeah its actually pretty decent if you can deal with carrey being carrey for the last 30 years.

I thought he did the role very well, it was much closer to his prime day stuff of liar liar/ace ventura and it just worked/fit into the movie pretty easy.

Getting sick and tired of this virus already, Hillsborough Florida just locked down yesterday, including libraries for atleast a month. No gatherings of 50 or more people, bars closed at 9pm in St. Pete, and heard some stores are closed.

A lot of theaters are closed til further notice so no surprise some movies are either put on hold or release to home in one form or the other.

The hell it does. It doesn't hold up for shit. The Last Jedi has so many mistakes in common logic and so many examples of poor writing that it's become a lesson in how not to write a script. It has nothing to do with power fantasies or any nonsense like that. It's treatment of legacy characters is only one of the movies many flaws. I could go on and on about the space chase scene alone and how little sense it makes.

looking back on the recent trilogy I actually think Last Jedi will stand up better over time...except for the poor way they killed of Luke I appreciate the movie more now...still wasn't a great movie but it's probably the best of the sequel trilogy

overall this new trilogy was a wasted opportunity...

It wasn’t a wasted opportunity for Disney. Their objective was to make back the money they paid Lucas as fast as possible. Iger even told Lucas this, and they were aware the fans would pony up and see whatever the studio crapped out. He wasn’t wrong. Almost every fan hated TLJ, and yet the next movie in the trilogy still managed to clear $1B at the box office. These movies were made specifically to net Disney a few billion dollars, so in the context, they did their job.

Now from a fan and quality film making standpoint, I 100% agree. It’s just a shame that quality film making wasn’t Disney’s primary objective with the series.

The Last Jedi asked some questions? Hmmmm, I must have been too bored to notice.
