Destiny 2

I still hate that they basically killed factions. They were fine the way they were in D1 and there was no reason to change them. I wish they would just change them to how the were in D1.

Honestly? As much as I enjoy this game overall, there are a number of things that were done better in D1 and shouldn't have been changed or should be shifted back in that direction IMO.

Not a fan of the weapon plans; seems like the laziest way to get people to use other stuff, and again without adding any engaging way to make grinding rolls feel more rewarding. Couple that with their plan for LE pinnacle PvP just confirms that they have no clue about what makes PvP fun for the majority of people that get into it. Smells like extending time sinks for the sake of cash grab and wishful population boosting mechanics (season pass, xp grinding).

The weapon obsolescence plan is fine with me. It’s like that in basically every mmo out there. They’re also giving weapons a ~15 month window to be used, which is a good bit of time. To put it in perspective, if they implemented this when Forsaken launched, we’d just now be at the point where weapons couldn’t be leveled up anymore. You also always have the option of using whatever you want in regular crucible since light doesn’t matter there.

Eh, the problem with the weapon plan is that you're likely to just grind out another weapon that is the same archetype with similar rolls or stats to the one you're currently using. It doesn't shake things up or add anything meaningful like it can in other games, it's just planned obsolescence for the sake of extending the RNG grind (not always a bad thing, but this is pretty blatant in that regard).

"Just run regular crucible." seems to be the same argument most people are using for the LE PvP issue, but it effectively deterrs many players from entering the new mode later on when they can't keep up with levels (bad game design). While a 10 level advantage can make a difference, it's still not too much different from optimizing your resilience to reach break-points; later in the season though, where grinders will have 20+ advantage, you can bet there will be a large enough advantage to where it won't be competitive for anyone not actively grinding XP (unless the curve is changed). I do a bit of everything myself and got to 960+15 starting in the middle of the season, but have seen 1k+ players in IB; most aren't the issue since they're average or below PvP players, but you enable a regular LE PvP mode you'll get a lot more better than average PvP players that can put in the time to wipe maps with a high advantage.

I'm not against rewarding people for putting time into a game, but when it rewards one group and becomes detrimental to another, it's poor game design and negatively impacts the community.

Edit: It looks like Bungie retracted it's decision and is now disabling the artifact for trials/IB. Holy shit, color me surprised.

I'm kind of sick of seasons already and have only been playing for a couple lol. The new armour mods every season sucks for us casuals.

As soon as I get everything master worked it's time to throw it out and start grinding for for something else with some new super special slot.

That's why I don't generally masterwork any armor besides the class item.

Well they did extend that which is nice.

I should have thought of that.

Be nice if the seasonal slot was universal and on all gear, but nah, let's just put it on specific armor and make most warlock gear look like they were dropped off at a pick-and-pull with a mig welder and upholstery stapler.

Sounds as though they are changing the slot to also work with the Season prior & after (Source). Not sure why the slot doesn't just become a modifier that alters the piece to the activity mod slotted into it, but they probably wouldn't generate enough grind / income with that system. I mean you could make it about the mods as much as the gear, so seems like more opportunity to me, but I've no Dev experience.

As usual, pretty hype.

Looks like The Fourth Horseman is returning. Never got it on D1, but it was a 4 barreled full auto shotgun that according to that page fired faster than any other shotgun. Including Invective (basically Ikelos)

So, that’s cool.

Damn. They fixed Doomfang pauldrons.

Yeah, I was considering checking out titan again mostly because of these guys, but I guess not. They got some great supers, but I just feel like the class ability is goofy compared to hunter and warlock, and doesn't fit their theme.

Theme wise, hunter and warlock seem like they're in a decent place. Hunter has the most suitable theme based ability set across most of their sub classes; lots of utility that supports both aggressive and passive play. Warlock is [thematically] in a decent place with most abilities focusing on passive/tactical play. Titan just feels weird because the way barricade works forces it into being a preemptive ability, but their other abilities are geared towards being aggressive (and thematically, it's an aggressive class). I'm not saying the class abilities are perfect, they should continue to be tuned, but titan's just doesn't thematically feel right due to how it works mechanically (you're completely vulnerable during the long deployment animation).

Tried to solo the Thorn strike yesterday. Got all the way to the boss no problem just taking it slow with Borealis with Catalyst and special ammo finders. Only reason I was able to though is when dunking the orbs I died each time but the checkpoint occurs as soon as the shriekers explode so I revived post dunk.
The Boss I could get to the final phase but just kept dying.

I think I could do it with a bit more luck on my side, but definitely with a partner or two. (Which I did have for a short period but he was rushed and suboptimal loadout).

Honestly soloing up to that point was kinda fun, hardest part was the first room full of thralls to worry about.

Server disconnects code word: beaver. Overall I was able to get into a few things. Legendary adventure on EDZ requires 1000 power so I can't do that yet lol.

Seraph tower public event in EDZ is pretty cool, will be better once more people figure out how it works.

Riskrunner owns this event

Got through it a few times for the bounty and we were ranging from 965 to 975 so its doable. Equipment isn't locked and no Extinguish so you can take as long as you need. As usual with harder content, Izanagi's, Divinity and Anarchy make it significantly easier.

Things feel a bit more sloggy and stingy this time around. Overall I'm happy with everything, though.

I'm enjoying it, i like the bunkers and the concepts though I understand its essentially a creative reskin of last season. Spawning heavy frames is super fun, though those guys need an AI update so they stop shooting at walls. Ugh.

I know I can count on you for good tips for efficient building up and so forth. ;)

Right now just cycling through Powerfuls and bounties. I managed rank 4 in the bunker and 996 base (1005 with artifact) on my second toon, haven't touched 3rd yet. I think what a lot of people miss with power leveling is the beauty of blues right now. If you get a pretty chunky powerful in a single slot and your other slots are lagging behind, any engrams you pickup on the ground have the ability to help bring those low slots up so don't immedietely dismantle blues while leveling!

What I do is always keep the highest i have, even its a blue in each slot. if I get another in that slot, i compare it against the one I was holding and if its higher, delete the first one and keep going.

Another way to make this quicker if you need to level off slots is buy engrams from planetary vendors, specifically the ones blinking in DIM's vendor tab. They should drop at +0.

Whats your strat? bounties on all 3 char?

Only touched 2 so far apart from a GoS run on my warlock. I'm just always doing warmind bounties. When run out, I pickup more. The weeklys for opening the sereph chest at the end of the sereph event 4 times and the legendary lost sector 3 times also gives a sizable chunk.

I should have the bunker fully unlocked sometime tomorrow though... Trials may get in the way.

Good advice, but what if you got shit luck like me and keep getting powerful gear for the same 4 slots? :ROFLMAO:

Easy. Between each powerful drop (since you can control when you get those), that's when you should be buying from the planetary vendors to even out the other slots.

Had bad RNG with that too, but the trick worked (bitching about bad RNG always gives you a +50% chance of getting better gear! Lol).

Edit: don't forget to leave seasonal gear unclaimed unless it'll boost that slot also.

I forgot about that! Yeah if you find yourself really in need of boosting one particular slot, use the gear in the season pass, 100%. I don't touch that stuff unless I absolutely need to.

I'm trying to be mindful of your advice here but let me make sure I understand something:

Are you saying here your character is 996 base power and broke 1000? Already? I'm at the 975. How the heck did you get up so fast?

Combination of things. Bounty stacking last week and turning them in this week, having three characters and most of all, lots and lots of time to play. Managed to hit the 1000 base cap on my main (Warlock) yesterday evening out at 1011 with the artifact. I'm also very fortunate to have a regular raid team that gets together once a week to run Garden on all three characters since they're all Pinnacle drops.

Also worth noting, the 970 Ordeal Nightfall this week drops Pinnacle gear at 100k points and that's possible if you delay killing the boss and let enough ads spawn. I got it done with a couple randoms through matchmaking earlier.

Trials is rough.. played probably 30 rounds today and only managed 3 wins on a card which was enough to at least get some loot. Its not going away though, get to look forward to this every weekend!

I think I was right about my pvp standing this season. Been tanking pretty hard; just struggling to get to a 1.0+ kd, but running into a lot of non-special instagibbs coming out of corners. Is aim botting a big thing early season (PC), or was I just overestimating my abilities going in on the later half of last season? (Was able to easily hold 1+ kd and hitting 2-3+ kd wasn't out of the question with rare sub 1 runs). Hardlight meta isn't helping, but going against other auto's isn't too bad.

Probably should have spent more time learning the maps instead of shelving it after hitting fabled, haha.

The start of the season is usually harder in my experience, everyone is reset to zero so skill based matchmaking is whack. I am a potato in competitive so I wont even try until a month or so in.
