Assassin's Creed: Syndicate

I beat this game 3 times because I had so much fun with the grappling hook. Love Evie. Story is okay, city design gets repetitive.

Both Origins and Odyssey are better games overall.

Syndicate was great. That was the one with the brother and sister duo. I enjoyed it.

It's really good. I like Unity better, but most disagree with me.

Also of note is that Syndicate is the last Assassin's creed game before they went full grindfest RPG in Origins. It's the last one where you can actually assassinate targets with the hidden blade.

I liked Unity, but it definitely felt a little stale when it came out... and it was also exceptionally buggy. I also didn't help that it was a follow up to Black Flag, which was absolutely phenomenal. By the time Syndicate came out, I was tired of buying Assassins Creed games annually, and the more-modern setting didn't interest me. None the less, free is free, I'll give it a go for sure.

I strongly disagree. Origins and Odyssey are shitty Witcher 3 knockoffs.

Syndicate was the last actual Assassin's Creed game. :(

Origins and Odyssey are a mixed bag for me. They are decently well made games. They got rid of some of the things that was making AC stale, and brought back many of the things that made Black Flag my favorite of the franchise. Conceptually, I like them. The problem is that like anything Ubisoft does these days, they lack heart. They are a lazy, "me too" version of much better games. They wanted you to believe Odyssey had the open world of Witcher 3 with the RPG mechanics from a Bioware game, and it technically does, but boiled down to their absolutely most basic, and thus least meaningful, components. I have no objections to the big, open-world RPG-esque Assassins Creed... I just wish they would do the concept justice. I wish they would put the same care into it that the games they are trying to mimic have. They could have something really, really special if they turned Assassins Creed into an every 5 years franchise. Sadly, Ubisoft is not the right company to see that.

You can say they lack heart but that us really hard to do with any game you create. Borderlands 3 tries to be loved by everyone but it's still a loot shooter with just some memorable quests if you binge on games it gets hard to love anything after a while. You just become a Steam statistic after a while or with Epic.

It's especially hard to do when your putting out open world games on an annual schedule.

There is no defending the way Ubisoft has been releasing games lately. They are taking all of their great IPs and turning them into boring, lazy, shitty games.

Story wasn't good, side content was very repetitive. But the actual story missions were fairly good. Think of a more streamlined Hitman game. Shame that instead of refining it they decided to make beat'em ups for the next few games after this one.

Worth it for free.
