Assassin's Creed: Syndicate

Game is getting good as I am progressing. Only activity I hate are kidnappings but the easiest is to let the target run and intercept once outside of the restricted area. Much easier to restrain and throw him/her in a cart.

The kidnappings were my least favorite activity until I figured out the circle. When you kidnap someone there's a circle that shows up. Any enemies inside that circle become aggro. The faster you run, the bigger the circle becomes. Just walk slow and pay attention to where the guards are. Kidnapping actually ended up being pretty fun.

I dont mind a delay as long as they put the work in to make it worth it. And as long as its not GTA5 length.

I know about the circle. Just am not patient. Much easier to kill a baddie. Let target run. Once out of normal area, tackle and throw in next horse cart. Simple.

More info now. Been having a blast with the game. Even though it is repetitive like other Ass Creed games the storyline and London is worth indulging in.

The upgrades are also fantastic and give it an RPG feel. I am quite liking it. Leveling up is also not easy so you really have to make choices in terms of gear to equip or skills to upgrade. At least earlier on. About 20% done and finished off Sequence 4. I am guessing the storyline is a bit short in this one since I haven't played all that much. Just liberated White Chapel and Lambeth (sp?).

Loving it. 9/10.

I finally finished the main storyline today. Took my time. I think I'm at about 80% synch. One thing I've been having fun with is tracking down the secrets of London. It's a challenge to find each one, just from the image clue. Kind of like geocaching, 19th century London style. Still have 5 to go. I also want to do the WW I missions, which I haven't looked at yet.

this game is next in my queue after I finish Rise of the Tomb Raider...should be fully patched up by then too...will probably pick up the Jack the Ripper DLC as well

Just completed the main storyline, this was a great game (for an AC game at least). Not at the same level of AC2 or Brotherhood which were the pinnacle of the series, but nevertheless it brought some needed respectability back to the series, as interest in the series waned as Ubisoft's forced annual release cycle seemed to drain both the playerbase and the developers of enthusiasm for the product.

The biggest flaw in this title is the gameplay/quests will feel repetitive if you try to marathon the game, but it's an AC game so you know ahead of time what you're getting into. Playing the game over a period of time in small bursts kinda resolves this issue. Production quality was decent, visuals and architecture were very well done, the city's atmosphere felt impressively alive, the homage/namedropping of important characters of the time was pretty cool, and the gameplay was satisfactory and above average for an AC title.

For anyone who took a break from the series due to over exposure or poor quality of recent releases and are feeling the urge to get back in, this game might just be the right one to scratch your assassination itch. I heard Ubisoft is switching over to a 2 year cycle now, so hopefully that means they are taking a quality over quantity approach now and the devs can maintain or improve upon the standard they have set with this title.

I'm bit disappointed with last boss fight. There used to be more memorable duels, than this. But generally it has been fun game. Now off to the Ripper DLC, finishing queen Vicky chain, and raising the rep of the final henchman - that gal in suits. Picked up every flower, beer bottle, secret and print :)

And right now, I'm just chillin on roof of the train, just enjoying the view of different parts of London :) wasted like an hour, just watching, but whatever you can say about AC games, at least they make the cities look exactly how they looked.

I quit playing the DLC because of the blurry textures. Textures were crisp as hell in the main game, but the DLC is a blurry mess.

Is it just me or is this the best Ass Creed since Brotherhood? I am absolutely loving it. Wanted to finish it tonight but I keep getting side tracked with activities. Still finished Sequence 9 Memory 1. Loving the game thus far and can't wait for the final showdown. I give it a solid 9.3/10.

A must play for Ass Creed fans and also for people who took a break in between.

started up the game...have no real opinion on gameplay yet as I'm still on the first Sequence...I spent most of the early going tweaking the graphics because although it doesn't look as good as Unity it's still a performance hog maxed out...the game still has that awful grain/blur to it which is most likely caused or exaggerated by FXAA...Syndicate actually has some nice AA options- MSAA, FXAA, TXAA but all of them use FXAA...so it's MSAA 2X + FXAA or TXAA 4X + FXAA...I decided to disable in-game AA and use ReShade SMAA (same as I did for Rise of the Tomb Raider) and it looks (and performs) a lot better but still not ideal for my tastes...I might give TXAA a twirl

I didn't even bother reading anything on this game as I was expecting it to so similar to Unity and was put off. I might have to try and snag a cheap code and check it out soon after hearing these positive impressions.

Yeah, it's definitely a great game. I still liked Black Flag a little more though. I loved the pirate theme, all the sea battles, and the general atmosphere. I still haven't played older AC games - tried and didn't like 1 or 2, never tried AC 3. Black Flag was the first one I played all the way through & really liked.

Glad I played Syndicate before Unity though. I just started Unity this past weekend, and it seems much more generic and nerfed after playing Syndicate; I could definitely see it leaving a bad impression that could put people off enjoying Syndicate. Unity seems to be missing a lot of features that got fixed in Syndicate, but in a few ways they're still very similar.

Assassin’s Creed Syndicate SLI issues fixed with GeForce 361.91 drivers...from the release notes:

-Assassin’s Creed Syndicate – SLI profile changed (with driver code as well) to make the application scale better

Finally

spent the weekend tweaking the graphics and I finally am happy with the results...how anyone can play with FXAA is baffling...the difference with it enabled/disabled is huge...I found a nice ReShade preset which makes the game look noticeably sharper and better without that awful FXAA blur...check out these before/after screenshots...night/day difference in my opinion...

* the new Nvidia 361.91 drivers also improved performance in the game

Link to the ReShade preset?

I beat the main game & DLC. Absolutely loved the Jack the Ripper & WWI stories. Main story was good but I didn't care much for the Ned Wynert side quests. I'm sad to see that they had very few indoor interaction areas like the older ACs (think big cathedrals from AC2!) & totally lacked major puzzles.

Wow! The words pc, assassins creed, and ubisoft in a thread with positive reviews. I almost think yall are getting an early start on an April fools thread....

I don't need it now, I have finished the game, I paied the game full price and I have plaied a beta game without SLI support.
This is my last ubisoft game.

Ubisoft really out-did themselves with the world building in this game...beautifully detailed rendering of Victorian London might be the best location of all the AC games...indoor interiors aren't as detailed as Unity but overall Syndicate looks amazing...the different methods of traveling throughout the city makes the game feel more alive then previous entries- you can ride trains, carriages, use the new Rope Launcher etc...the Jacob and Evie main characters are also the best since Ezio...great dialogue and banter between them and the other supporting characters are also more interesting this time around...I also love that you can switch anytime between Evie and Jacob...

I had to compress the 3rd screenshot down to jpeg because there was too much detail in it!

Jack the Ripper DLC was decent but kind of strange. I much prefer the main game. Overall I hit about 96 percent completion on this and I'm sad that I basically finished it.

I must respectfully request the following... Can you guys please stop fucking calling it Ass Creed? About as stupid as saying Xbone.

Also, why can't the Assassin's Creed series just drop the whole Abstergo bullshit? 99% of the time when playing I don't think of this as a simulation or anything... I think the games would be just as fine if that whole nonsense were dropped. Playing Black Flag recently and just walking around that office is so fucking stupid and boring.

Totally agree. That aspect of the story has long since jumped the shark for me. These games don't need it and arguably never did.

I think I prefer Juno getting in the mix rather than Abstergo.

She provides a good summary of the Precursors for anyone that hasn't played through all of the previous games, especially with the WW1 section.

I'm really enjoying this AC game...without question the best AC game to date...London is the best city and even though the side filler is mostly the same old AC stuff it feels fresh within the amazing city they built...the additions of trains, carriages, boats, the rope launcher etc make traversing the city much more fun then just climbing buildings...the addition of side missions such as Fight Clubs, carriage races etc also make the filler more fun...every time I play an AC game I think that I've burnt out on it and it will be the last AC game I buy but Syndicate has given new life to the series

graphics are really impressive considering the size of the city and the varied locations and neighborhoods...great use of color (but I'm using ReShade to enhance the visuals so maybe that plays a big part)...the way the carriages get beat up with the wood and paint peeling off looks excellent

the game is also somewhat challenging at higher levels...after Sequence 4 they give you the option of jumping ahead to Sequence 8 (and then going back to Sequence 5 afterwards)...I wish I hadn't done that as some of the memories within Sequence 8 were really difficult...the ending of that Sequence was also fantastic and I don't know if the rest of the game can live up to it

finished AC: Syndicate...finished all the missions with only a bunch of collectables left (chests etc)...towards the later stages I started getting AC fatigue as the missions, collectables etc started to get boring...the last few memory sequences were pretty dull...overall though it was an enjoyable game right up there with Brotherhood...I like the London setting a tad bit better then Brotherhood's Rome...I think I'm done with the series though...too much repetition in new settings and that's not enough anymore for me...I bought the last few AC games for cheap through Nvidia bundles and it made it more worth it but I'm officially burnt out on it

Syndicate did seem to combine all the best parts of the series into one with the best main character(s) since Ezio...the WW1 part was excellent...I thought it was going to be another small section like in Unity but it was a large area...Syndicate is good way to go out for me...I hear Ubisoft is skipping their yearly release of AC in 2016 so hopefully this means some major changes to the formula in 2017

nice screenshots polonyc2. i absolutely love the london setting of this game. i need get back into it, pick up where i left off.

So are we just skipping over Black Flag? BF in my opinion was the 2nd best of the series.

The new DLC came out this week. 10 more missions to help the Maharajah gain back his throne (I think). I need to jump on that soon...

I read this on another site and I agree...

"First things first, here are all the things Assassin's Creed doesn't have this year. There's no bolted on multiplayer mode or any co-op options. It doesn't have any connections to a broken web service. It doesn't require you to play a companion app to acquire everything in the game. It's like a human being actually sat down to design a game with the simple requirement that it felt fun, rather than it being a £50 experience designed by a committee to link up a web of interconnected transmedia nodes. It's a huge relief. Next, here are all the things Syndicate adds back to the series' sandbox - simple things such as picking up and hiding bodies, whistling to attract attention - as well as several new methods of traversal to reinvigorate the game's parkour gameplay...it is the best city that Ubisoft has created since Brotherhood's Rome...success is a testament to the work of Ubisoft Quebec, which found itself in charge of its first Assassin's Creed game at a critical point for the series"

as far as comparisons to Unity...Unity has more crowds and better indoor environments but those crowds wouldn't make sense in Syndicate due to the horse drawn carriages and the London time period...things would have been too congestive on the streets making carriages and other options not a viable option

Free on Epic this week Epic has been droping the bomb on alot of good stuff hardly even pays to buy anything.
Almost have a complete collection of Assassin creed games.

Good to know. That's the only one I don't own of the main lineage.

Likewise, I've heard good things but this came hot off the Unity burnout. I've always told myself I'll pick it up eventually... guess it pays to wait. Epic has already dropped two free AAA games this year... here's to hoping the trend continues.

It's really good. I like Unity better, but most disagree with me.

Also of note is that Syndicate is the last Assassin's creed game before they went full grindfest RPG in Origins. It's the last one where you can actually assassinate targets with the hidden blade.
