Wolcen Lords of Mayhem

Anyone still playing this? Updates made it better/worse?

Purchased it through the steam sale. Played like ass and caused my system to blue screen. Got a refund. Hopefully the September update will improve the game.

I played it for some time back in Feb. No issues and it was pretty fun. I just didn't want to have to re-play it when an update came along - since they wipe save data.

It's fun and improving fairly often, but like already mentioned the wipes are frequent. Worth picking up, and I play it every handful of patches to see the changes.

Have had this in my steam library going on year and half but haven’t touched it yet because I think I really could enjoy it and didn’t want to get turned off by an early alpha

Would you recommend starting it up with the beta 1 or still putting it off a while if still missing a lot of mechanics and such ?

I'd give it a go. Worth playing at its current state. Planning on playing a bit this coming week.

Indeed, looks fantastic! Going to try and find some time to try it again. Played quite a bit of it but they wipe your character after updates so I gave up.

Whoa. I bought this in early beta but had not paid attention to the fact that they completely re-wrote it over the past year.
The game used to be pretty piggy in terms of resources. If you did not have a beefy PC, it was a choppy mess. Still fun if you could run it smoothly, except for the crashes.

Here are a couple of the top points I saw in the release notes:

GENERAL:
  • It’s a new game.
  • Multiplayer is now implemented. You can create a party or join an existing one, with up to 3 other players.
VISUALS:
  • Every aspect of the game’s visuals have been remade from scratch with much higher quality standards.

TECHNICAL:
  • Very strong optimizations have been done. The game runs much more smoothly now.

They kept teasing us that they were going to do an update over the past year and nothing materialized. I guess they finally did it! Going to check it out tonight!

Thanks!

I purchased this last year and had to get a refund because it was just an unplayable buggy mess. Its looking better. I will re purchase it when it finally comes out. Dont know when that will be though.

That being said though, its looking like its sizing up to be an awesome ARPG, I really like the way the art direction evolved.

Have it, haven't really played it. Sure looks like some familiar characters in that vid.... I mean POE, and D3 ROS might have had some influence methinks.
When I get settled again, I may fire it up and play a bit.

FYI, works under Steam Play..... sort of. Graphics are a bit messed up.

The build I played three years ago was pretty unpolished so hoping they really knock it out of the park.

release date is a month from now this game might be the next Grim Dawn.

The game is meh. It's a worse point and click game than D3. At least I liked D3

Hello cryengine looks amazing guess I'm playing this guess it's going to launch on the 13th so Thursday maybe hope it's at Noon.

Big ass armor, guns, gigantic hammers.....a far cry from the Wolcen I remember. Looks like they're tailoring to an asian market. No longer interested.
I mean, it looks like they shed the Diablo aesthetic, but now it's looking more like Warhammer 40K...

Agreed- it's very gothic german fantasy IMHO, and the last beta round was a huge step up in gameplay and story from the earlier stuff. It looks gorgeous in-game and plays really smoothly (imho).

I went ahead and bought it ahead of tomorrow's release. Figured, why the hell not. Really in the mood for a Diablo-like game, and still waiting on TL3.

I'm sorry I got the game. I am not impressed in the least. This is more repetitive than I care for. At least with Grim Dawn, D3, POE, you feel like you are getting somewhere, this is the same crap, over and over.
I will give it one more go, but I doubt after 19 hours in, I will be raving about it.

It had potential.

Yeah if the structure isn't there I suppose anyone could feel that way Grim Dawn had Devil's crossing as soon as you loggin' it was pretty impressive.

The ARG is getting old to me. I loved Diablo 2 and it just seems that most of these games do it basically the same way. I think the only one that really did anything different was Sacred 2 with its huge world to explore plus having mounts and tons of secrets and also was not randomly generated.

I'm still a sucker for an ARPG and will probably buy this later tonight.

Pathfinder Kingmaker is pretty epic but its geared towards making a good story on top of it all. The think I like about Ultima Online the first mmo you could just screw around and do whatever with the general public. It had a life of it's own that basically no other game of today captured a few came close part of the reason Ultima was so good the 2D sprites gave the game weight and all the nooks and crannies of the game gave it life. Pathfinder Kingmaker and the Divinity OS are the few games that could do it the same using overhalled 3D graphics.

Diablo 4 is going to very interesting if I'm around to see that game because it has realistic graphics this time around.

I have Pathfinder Kingmaker, but have only played a few min of it. I should explore that one too.

It's a good game if you have a small monitor to play on. I couldn't see anyone play it on a ultrawide. Due to all the text in the game which is really significant.

Eh well, I'll be playing on a 4k TV. Not Ultrawide though.

Truth be told I'd say Wolcen is more of a hold over for me, scratch that ARPG itch for the time being. I'm more excited for TL3. It's just a..."happier" game. Kinda like WoW-ish in it's cartoony regard. Grim Dawn was a pretty good game but it was so dark (almost......GRIM) most of the way though. I'm hoping there are some varied environments in Wolcen throughout the additional chapters in the game.
