I was just doing a little bit of research and decided to make this quick Excel spreadsheet. It's not exhaustive by any means.

I just hope it helps someone who's also doing research on mid-range CPUs.

I'm not taking any responsibility for incorrect pricing or pricing changes or any data contained herein :D

I would add the 1600AF at $99. Was $85 but I guess retailers felt it was too cheap. It's still a good deal at $99.

Yeah Imma gonna wait for $85 again...missed it last time. I'm frugal. 😬
My local Best Buy would price match Micro Center CPU price, that locates 1.5 hours away. Since the 2600x is currently on sale for $79.99, it would even be cheaper than the 1600AF. YMMV of course.

If you'd be able, I think adding an average cinebench score (or another agreed upon metric) then dividing the points scored by current market price would add a ton of value to the chart.

Just my opinion though. Data doesn't lie if you have no agenda

My version of a meta-analysis

OP, I stole some of your data and added a bit of my own.

Not sure how accurate this all is, but I used these cinebench scores as a baseline for this one.

'cause they posted all scores in one place and saved me some time.

Multi threaded score per dollar winner is 1600x @ $85 with about 29.4 points per dollar
Single threaded winner is also the 1600 @ $85 with 4.2 points per dollar

That chip at $85 is a real bargain for price per cinebench point.

The ultra cheap legacy end-of-life hardware aside, 2700x (still last gen) takes second place as highest multi and 2600 (also last gen) has the lead with single thread.

All US funds (sorry everyone else)

Wow the price on the 3900X has come down a lot so far. I paid $529 for mine back in november, and still consider it worth what I paid. It is also only $100 more than I paid for the 3770K I bought back in 2013 that this rig replaced.

Hm I wonder if this is standard practice @ bb? BB is 10 min away. MC is about 50.....even without the $20 combo I'd rather buy @ BB for the time/driving savings.

Not 100% sure, but they price match Micro center for me last year when I bought the 2700x from them, and matched the Crosshair Hero VII price to amazon pricing. I even asked them again a couple months ago when I was in there, and one of the worker that manned the pc area said they still do.
