[H]ot | Two google nest hubs for $99.99

2 Amazon Echo 8” are on sale for same price on a Amazon and BestBuy. After trying both love the integration of Alexa.

well you are on the internet so unplug now lol.

Big difference between being on the internet and willingly installing a microphone and camera a third party has access to in your home.

Camera can be closed with the lid and microphone is used for me to control everything. Yea I get it, but I am not going to live my life being paranoid. There is a microphone in your laptop too, so I guess stop using it? hmm. lol. To each his own, if you don't like or want something why waste your time in this thread.

Is it paranoia when these companies have admitted their employees abused access to recordings?

yeah but all of the news stories from amazon contractors stepping forward about how they have puppy mills full of people listening in on conversations that the AI can't parse. Level1Techs seems to have 1 every other news show.

EDIT: yeah i can understand the integration or that some don't care. a worked with a guy in info sec and he rolled his own assistants by blocking some IP's enforcing time usage and i can't remember if he was using mycroft or what ever the open source one was or what

The recordings on Echo devices only exist if you say Alexa first. Also, if you are that paranoid, you can just turn the mic off on the devices anytime you're not using it: there's a button for that.

There are ways around this. But this topic has been covered ad nausem.
