Games that should be revived...

I would love to see:

  • Dino Crisis
  • Prey (the new Prey was good, but honestly it shouldn't have been called Prey and I want to see a sequel to the original alien abduction / Indian protagonist Prey)
  • No One Lives Forever (I just want a silly shooter with cool gadgets that doesn't take itself too seriously)
  • harvestor mentioned a new Goldeneye-like James Bond shooter which would be sweet. A gadget-filled shooter where you can do cool shit would be great.
  • World in Conflict (while many have mentioned C&C which I would also like to see I personally would want a new World in Conflict)
  • S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

I wish, but I doubt it will happen. Hi-Rez made Tribes Ascend witch was pretty fun but they didn't monetize it well and they stopped supporting it. That was made with Unreal Engine 3 a long time ago, and Hi-Rez refuses to use UE4 for new games they still use UE3.... So if they did make a new Tribes it would probably suck.

There may be some hope on the Hi-Rez/Unreal Engine front. My understanding is that HiRez's newer mobile offerings are built on UE4, and that their new FPS game will be built on UE4.

+1 A new SupCom game.

UNPOPULAR OPINION: While I loved both SupCom and SupCom: Forged Alliance, SupCom 2 was a pretty good game. SupCom 2 may have had a shitty single-player campaign, but it is one of the oldest annual LAN party games we all still play over here, that and Demigod. Multiplayer SupCom 2 is just nuts-awesome fun to play, especially doing a comp stomp, and the game is both cheap and accessible enough that non-Total Annihilation/Supreme Commander veterans can get into without much trouble. And it is not a resource hog.

Mercenaries 3
A new DeusEx not in the retconned universe, but the original / Invisible War one

KOTOR, but somehow made to the quality of Jedi Fallen Order and not copy paste of Mass Effect Andromeda.

Have you tried Planetary Annihilation?

I have, and even was a Kickstarter backer of it. Interestingly they are still developing this game - it recently received a 64-bit overhaul, for example. Sadly, I can't really get into it, though - It's too fast paced for my tastes. I really wanted to like it and backed it at the $100 price point. I even had my wife back it. Yet, alas...

IMHO: SupCom and SupCom 2 both had a more... deliberate... pacing (moreso SupCom 1 than 2, but 2 is still a lot more comfortable than PA). By comparison PA feels like a "hurry up and spam" rush to me.

Fellow vigilante here wanting a new Interstate 76 or 82 as well as a new Midtown Madness for pc.

Nolf and Fear are good ones, but I Fear (LOL) that Fear would be made too bland if they revived it. And Nolf is ripe to mess up if political correctness gets involved.
Unfortunately Max Payne was damaged beyond repair by rockstar for me. And after DNF, I'm not really interested in Duke Nukem.
Kotor or any Star Wars RPG would be good.
Most of the games mentioned would get a pass from game publishers nowadays.

Would love to see another F.E.A.R. or Max Payne, but those game franchises are probably dead.

Would love a real sequel to Wipeout/Wipeout XL and bring back The Designers Republic to do their magic

All Legacy of Kain Saga.. strange no one mentioned it, great games, specially Soul Reaver

A Duke Nukem game would get ripped apart today. I want it.

I think they could get away with remaking Max Payne. The graphics look really rough, and a remaster/remake of FEAR would be excellent. With the graphics and capabilities of today that'd be amazing. FEAR to this day is still super enjoyable and the gameplay always feels fresh, and every time I play it I feel like it's fresh and varied.

I'd like to see Syphon Filter again.(SF 2 is where I got this username). Quite frankly, it would make a damn good show series if done right.

Well, Vampire: The Masquerade - Redemption got a sequel in Bloodlines, and Bloodlines is getting a sequel this year.

I forgot to put darkstalkers in my list /doh

There's a definite possibility Capcom could revisit that series. They've tossed around several times, so at least they haven't forgotten or buried the franchise. With Marvel being tougher to make now, I wouldn't be shocked to see a new Darkstalkers title or a crossover with SF opportunity soon.

Off topic but I cant believe how bad the reforged remake is
Just like with WC3 Reforged, I would worry about any revival of classic games, because most of the games mentioned were from before the focus on making every game a grind with microtransactions. With EA, I would imagine KOTOR 3 will end up where you have to get different lightsaber colors and HK-47 from a "loot crate" instead of in-game actions.

I'd like an entry in the XWING/TIE FIGHTER series and I'd run out and grab another joystick to play it. But given disney... I'm not holding my breath.

X-Wing, Tie Fighter, and X-Wing Alliance all had story lines that were contemporaneous with the original trilogy movies. They have a LOT more they could glean from. I personally think that these games set in the prequel trilogy could work very well, what with the loose coalition of forces gradually being pulled into a professional Army of the Republic, with at least one game set from the perspective of the Separatists.

Heck, even the new trilogy has some gold that could be mined here, what with a stable and largely "cold war" peaceful stance military suddenly thrown into chaos when their core worlds are suddenly annihilated - battle groups suddenly having to pull themselves into an active war stance with NO central command structure. Lots of good stuff they could do with this for this kind of game.

Soldier of Fortune certainly brings back some memories. Would love to get an updated KOTOR 1 & 2.

I got another list
These are game franchises that didn't have new entries for far too long, and I wish would make a comeback.

TLDR version:

  • Soldier of Fortune
  • Interstate '76
  • Desert Strike
  • Heretic / Hexen
  • Command & Conquer
  • X-Wing
  • Dark Forces
  • Voyager Elite Force
  • Splinter Cell
  • Test Drive
  • Gran Turismo

DEFINITELY SOF. I really loved those games. Ultra Violence with the red red krovvy all DAY son.

I want a remake of Quake 2 with Rocket Arena built in and support for 10 vs 10 in bigger maps and old ones reimagined.
