As per tftcentral, the panels for these displays will go into production only in Q2 2020. That means, that these monitors will hit the shelves in the very end of 2020 at the earliest, if all goes well and the production does not run into any problems. The 48" LG OLEDs will be sold at their maximum discounts by that time.
So far the 37.5" LG monitor is the topest monitor hit.

Lets be real, any time Asus or Acer say a monitor will be out at X time we're all adding 1-2 years to that date in our heads anyways.

I will frankly be impressed/surprised if they get this thing out in 2020 AT ALL and it doesn't become another joke like the PG27UQ/PG35VQ.

Reminder that there was an updated PG27UQ, the PG27UQX announced in May at Computex and it is still nowhere to be found.

48" screen with self-emitting pixels for $1000 or 32" with blooming FALD for $3600? Hmm, tough choice .

Tough choice for sure.:) The g-sync from 1Hz and up to the max supported is extremely appealing though...

Since the LG CX is certified to be gsync compatible it must mean it supports LFC so I don't really see the gsync module having any advantage in that regard.

What
Yes but will have LFC just like Gsync. Most gsync monitors are 30-X Hz but are always guaranteed to have LFC while many Freesync/Adaptive sync monitors don't.
Still not as effective as real frame synchronization, and besides, the whole thing only works in Full Screen exclusive mode. Games that don't have that option will not support VRR G-Sync at all. Hardware G-Sync makes sure every game supports it even in windowed mode.

As for the whole Exclusive Fullscreen, Freesync now works in borderless window but I'm not sure about HDMI VRR although I see no reason why it couldn't be made to work.

Yeah, currently only the exclusive fullscreen mode is supported by VRR G-Sync. If I understand it correctly.

My guess is 1-3 years. The only one out right now is the 34" 5120x2160 LG and it's 60 Hz only. When DP 2.0 and HDMI 2.1 are in play those kind of resolutions become easier to do with high refresh rate support.

Yeah I know about the LG version but I didn't think it was a bandwidth issue considering that there isn't exactly a plethora of even 60hz versions.

I might just have to get myself an X38 as a semi upgrade to tide me over.

I anticipate this will actually be available March 2021.

I highly doubt that. JOLED are the only likely source for such a panel, and they have only just recently opened their facility. To expect something of this spec from them within that time frame just isn't realistic. If such a monitor does ever exist, it will be lucky to even be announced by 2021... and at that point wouldn't see light of day until 2023 most likely.

What the hell are you talking about? This monitor isn't an OLED monitor using a JOLED panel, it's a "Mini LED" aka technically just a plain jane IPS LCD with a measely 1152 zone FALD.

Eh? Look at the past few posts... riffcho asked about 32" OLED, AngryLobster said he anticipated it in 2021... that's what I was referring to regards JOLED's venture. I feel even that's ambitious and wishful thinking though. I'll believe it when I see it. LG's 48" is best we'll get regards OLED for next few years.

The only realistic hope is that LG releases a 40 or 42 inch for 2021. It would be perfect IMHO but I'll settle for a 48. If the Cx 48 is only $999 then there really is no LCD I would even consider over $500. 1440p 120hz gaming on the C9 is already orgasmic.

Yeah, currently only the exclusive fullscreen mode is supported by VRR G-Sync. If I understand it correctly.

I started to research this and saw a thousand posts from gamers with gsync that wasn't working properly on specific games on various monitors, then I gave up. I guess I shouldn't be surprised that compatibility issues are the biggest roadblock to GSYNC/VRR but that should get better thanks to the next gen consoles.

Windowed mode has been a total mess on PC with actual g-sync module monitors, anyways. It constantly breaks and gets fixed, and doesn't always work in all games.

Weird, I never had issues with g-sync (with the hardware module) in windowed or borderless mode since it's been a thing, including early days with Windows 7. I mean OK there was a bug very early on with Windows 10 when it gave you terrible FPS (like 20-30) after logging out of RDP but that was very quickly fixed. In fullscreen I've had even fewer bugs.

Obviously there are some things that won't work because so many apps run on the GPU these days, including video players/browsers etc. so you have to make sure the game window is in focus otherwise you might get the video drivers trying to sync the display to the wrong app. But nvidia themselves have added enough VRR exceptions in the drivers in my experience for that not to be an issue (you can always manually add them which I sometimes do).

Single monitor user though, maybe that matters.

All you gotta do is google and you'll see how often people report issues. Lots of reports of it still being broken since that alleged fix in many games. It's just a janky feature in general. There were a lot of problems with it when it was being introduced as well, they're slowly tapering off so maybe one day it will be reliable for all users.

The bulk of complaints I read earlier were from multimonitor users but I honestly can't imagine only having one display. I prefer 3.

Single monitor, two, three, four...

Haven't had a notable issue with G-Sync that persisted beyond a following patch or driver release, and of those, I'm stretching to remember a concrete example.

It's just a janky feature in general.

I'll say that there's some knowledge gap / PEBCAK involved about G-Sync that wasn't really well communicated by Nvidia, generally being:
  • Run full-screen wherever possible
  • Enable V-Sync in the Nvidia driver panel
  • DIsable V-Sync in games
  • Set a framerate cap two to three FPS below max refresh rate
With that out of the way, it's been smooth sailing.

Too wrong. This is great news

I hope that this monitor doesn't have any issues like the pg32ucg. It was listed on amazon and pulled. There are only a few reviews, but they're both poor.

...and fake (if you’re talking about there being any amazon reviews of this screen?) since it’s nowhere near being released

Oh, it was listed in stock whenever I looked at the beginning of the month on Amazon. I got there through a link on the ASUS website so I assumed the reviews were legit. The price is crazy, but I'm still very interested in this monitor. I paid similar prices for my first OLED TV and would be willing to pay if it performs well enough. Thanks for the update.

There is a single amazon review before they ran out of stock. Amazon is mixing the old HDR600 and HDR1000 models together. It because Amazon while a tech company has the worst store interface.

Searching their reviews can be real troublesome because of that. I'll try to specify that version and keep an eye out for newer reviews. I wish a reputable site would review it already.

Seems to be a decent review so far (if you are okay with youtube ones) She even covers the BGR thing and text and it seems really good.

Sorry we might be talking about different models here. There is no such model as the “pg32ucg”, I had assumed you were talking about the PG32UQX from the thread title which is def not released yet anywhere. Maybe you meant the PA32UCG though which is part of their professional ProArt series. That was released in limited stock but is pretty different to the PG gaming model being discussed in this thread

Wrong thread? This is about the 43" model that came out months ago while the thread is for the 32" that isn't even out yet.

Still HDMI 2.0 and DP 1.4 but with DSC to allow the faster refresh rates. I think I will wait, nice monitor.

Yes, that's the model I was talking about. Even though it is a ProArt monitor from my understanding the monitor was being targeted for game developers and had similar specifications. There is also another model with a similar panel from the ProArt line the PA32UCX that is readily available now with no real reviews either.
