I didn't see a thread for this game - if one exists, let me know and I'll delete.

Oh, man. Please let this be good and not a steaming pile:

I have fond memories of playing Terminator: Future Shock on my Compaq 486. That was 1995/1996! I know that there have been several Terminator games since then for both PC and console, but I haven't played any of them.

Is this game on anyone's radar?

I’ve seen good things in reviews, and watched a bit of gameplay. It looks a bit of an “on rails” experience but I don’t see any problem with that.

As a huge T1 and T2 fan, this game is awesome. If you love those movies and always wanted a decent modern game that really adheres to the T1 and T2 lore, this is it. If you strip that stuff away though, it's a very basic FPS with light RPG elements and an "open but linear" experience.

Oh, man. Sounds like a definite pickup then. I'll likely wait for a sale because I'll be too busy with the holidays to get much enjoyment of it, but I'm glad to know that it's good. I'm a huge fan of T1 and T2 (as anyone should be!).

I've been following it. I haven't taken the plunge. I've heard the core game play is fun. Elements of the visuals are solid, but some are dated. Given its a relatively low budget title, that's not too bad. The core problem with it is at higher levels, T-800's are trivial to kill. Early on though, they are actually quite terrifying. The weapon / upgrade system seems deep and it supposedly does a decent job with its story.

The theme from the game kicks ass.

My biggest problem with the game is the difficulty. Even on the hardest difficulty, if you spend time exploring every corner of the maps you will be absolutely loaded with items, ammo, crafting mats, and "cash." And then there are "chips" which are looted off destroyed machines and can be inserted into plasma weapons. With those upgrades plus the Weapons skill you can get like +200% damage, it's insane. The Terminators can fuck you up because even with the Toughness skill maxed out you can't take many hits even on Extreme difficulty, but it's still too easy.

I still highly recommend the game for Terminator fans ($40 is fine if you're hardcore like me, otherwise $20 or less for anyone else IMO.)

Nice, thanks for chiming in! I'm definitely a huge fan of Terminator in general but I may wait until there's a sale unless I can convince myself that I'll have time to play it. Should look epic on the OLED in those dark areas with fire, etc.

This one flew under the radar, for sure. The developer doesn't exactly have a stellar track record and they have never made a game like this before. Looks like it's simple and straightforward, which is appealing, and it has a good word of mouth. I put it on my watchlist and will probably pick it up on a sale.

Awesome theme, I caved and bought the game, haven’t had time to play it yet. I am a terminator fan

Thanks for this.

Seeing machine guns and iron sights in sci-fi films and games has been bugging me for quite a while. Even the best one still have those. I mean, it's till better than phasers but only because the ST cannon is important for some nerds. I could be wrong on that last one, though. Feel free to come up with a better explanation.

Looks ok but looks linear gun sound is the same Ghost Recon Breakpoint is suppose to have some Terminator DLC I guess Dec. or later.

I kind of wish I hadn't bought it. They don't have ultra wide support working. So, I'm playing on the Samsung 3840x1080 in this tiny black barred box. And the tiny field of view is making me super nauseous on top of the tiny box

Game seems cool though

You can adjust the FOV in like 5 seconds.

1. Open %LOCALAPPDATA%\Terminator\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor\GameUserSettings.ini with a text editor.
2. Find a line starting with FieldOfView= and change its value.

Doesn't work. Devs say they're working on it, though. There is an unofficial community patch for the time being.

Can't believe ultrawide is still a problem for some devs, just tried BFV a minute ago and even that has streched videos on my monitor, it is ridicilous that a high budget title would not support properly a gaming monitor.

Pre-rendered cutscenes make sense, but the developer should have foresight enough to at least pillarbox them on UW displays. But actually getting the game to play in ultrawide is trivially easy. Pointed this out before but the game I made in university worked on triple monitor setups without being explicitly made to do so. The asset argument doesn't hold up, either, as all graphic APIs can transform 2D elements at no cost with a simple multiplier to keep them from stretching.

But this is UE4 we're talking about. When people complained about UE3 cutting off the tops and bottoms of screens for widescreen resolutions (Vert- behavior) the engine developers just shrugged it off saying that it was the intended behavior and forced game developers to come up with their own solutions.

Ok I've now clocked up a few hours, not rushing it. Gotta say, it strikes a nice balance between stealth and shooter, you get both in one. It's not really open world, but I don't care, and story wise it's pretty weak so far, again, don't really care - I get to shoot t800s and others with impunity, I'm happy.

Same, I am enjoying it. I've been taking out terminators for loot. Prior to getting Plasma weapons, you just need to hide from terminators. After, loot!

Awesome! Thanks for heads up and reviews looks right up my alley, also been wondering when a game like this was coming. Visuals look great too.
Ultrawide support is a niche in a niche... It shouldn't be hard to support but realistically fuck all people use it, bit like mGPU of screens.

Well, fuck all people use 2080ti-s as well, so support for that doesn't matter either? The thing is that high end niches are bought by the biggest spenders and the most vocal community members.

Might have to check this one out. Though my dream Terminator game is an open worlder with insane difficulty where you're being hounded relentlessly by T-700's, as well as Harvesters and HK-Aerials (the flying VTOL Hunter Killers) -- think Terminator Salvation abandoned gas station scene, where the huge Harvester suddenly appears with the eerie electrical buzzing noises and starts blasting everything.

Love that scene.

Salvation gets a lot of flak from purists but I liked it. I don't agree that every movie after T2 was crap (I don't recall liking Genisys that much and I haven't seen the new one, though).

Yeah I can watch Salvation over and over. The overall Road Warrior meets Fallout, man-on-a-mission arc is where it shines, least until the goofy Skynet compound at the end. The sound design is a feast for powerful home theater speakers.

Well I finished the game, about 13 hours in, having taken time to find secrets and gear and stuff. The fact that I am super busy with work and family but still found time to get 13 hours of gaming in the last few weeks is testament to just how good this game is.

What it is not:
- An in depth story
- Amazing groundbreaking graphics

What it is:
- a fun, fair tribute to the lore
- a solid reasonably paced fps
- good mix between stealth and straight shooter

I kind of saw it as a bit of a mix between an FPS (eg UT3), a stealther (eg DX:HR) and a rail shooter (eg GoW). It wasn't necessarily outstanding in any of these areas, but it was solid, not very buggy and fun.

It's a bit like a restaurant you go to regularly that isn't outstanding in any particular way but you've never had a bad meal at.

I confess I exploited the fact that some terminator units got stuck when their buddies died nearby until some of the parts of the terminated ones despawned, but didn’t go seeking to make this happen.

I felt the sex in it was unnecessary and there was a bit of type-casting of female characters (Hard ass, woman to be rescued, crone).

Overall I give this game a 7.5/10 - The main thing that could have been improved upon is the graphics, and a little more variety in the terminator models (especially the infiltrators)

I may check it out when the price drops further.

Looks better than the last Terminator PC game I tried to play... back in 1990. Couldn't get it going on my dad's old PC back then, lol.

Got you covered, friend.

Todd Howard's first game .

Whew, just got finished with the hospital mission. Very creepy. The perfect vibe for this game, though.

I'm taking my time with it; have about 3 hours clocked so far. I like to explore the entire map and find as much loot as possible. You're right Keljian - it's a good mix between stealth and shooter. I'm glad it's not just guns blazing all of the time. It's very fitting considering how sneaky they had to be in the movies at times in order to avoid being detected by the robots.

Game looks like garbage. Case in point, Red lasers. Stick with the damn source material. F
