I got another list
These are game franchises that didn't have new entries for far too long, and I wish would make a comeback.

TLDR version:

  • Soldier of Fortune
  • Interstate '76
  • Desert Strike
  • Heretic / Hexen
  • Command & Conquer
  • X-Wing
  • Dark Forces
  • Voyager Elite Force
  • Splinter Cell
  • Test Drive
  • Gran Turismo

I see your Command & Conquer and X-Wing series and raise you FreeSpace, Might & Magic (step-based, please), Eye of the Beholder, and Wing Commander.

Good remakes, non of that EA gunk. Or Duke Nukem......

I'd like to do a x-wing /tie fighter reboot. Couple of other titles there as well.

Let's see,

Nolf
Duke nukem
Soldier of fortune
Urban strike
Rage (I don't consider Rage 2 to be of the same franchise)
Fear
Max Payne
Kotor

Just because you don't like Gran Turismo Sport doesn't mean it's dead and neglected. It doesn't need to be "revived" because it's still being made. Polyphony time is also just a tic above Valve time, so just because the next entry has yet to be announced doesn't mean it won't be made.

Knights of the Old Republic and Max Payne for sure, that's what I came here to write and you had them on your list.

- SWAT series. Ready or Not should be the replacement.

- Rainbow Six series. Ready or Not should be the replacement.

- Ghost Recon. Everything post GRAW 2 never happened.

- Jane's USAF or similar semi realistic flight simulator.

- Sleeping Dogs

- Pilot Wings

There are a lot more I can post but I think most do technically have sequels in the works. A lot of games, like Deus Ex, STALKER and Bioshock essentially have confirmed future games are being worked on so I'm not sure I can list all of these. Most of them have gone in terrible directions, but they are technically still around.

I'm more interested in reviving genres. Still miss the vehicle based shooter genre that died around 2005 or so. Everything that is out there is either an MMO or only partially vehicle based and too simplistic like Just Cause, although I liked 2/3.

Interstate '76 needs a remake more than any game in existence. Or maybe a reboot. I don't want a sequel. Even the gog version is unplayable on modern computers without a ton of tweaking that probably won't even work. Soldier of Fortune would be cool but I think that one did get some sequels and iirc they sucked and had toned down gore compared to the original. One person said Tribes but only the original with the renegades mod was good. Another sequel would probably suck like the last 2 (or has it been 3 now?). Same for Duke Nukem. Randy Pitchford would probably either make it into an SJW influenced mess or would just make it crap on purpose because of his politics.

My addition to the list: Giants Citizen Kabuto. I loved the very British humor in that game, the gameplay was fun, and if you played the European or patched US version the game even had tiddies!

Edit: A new Redneck Rampage would be good too. My hick cousins used to love playing that and laughing at themselves. Good times.

Duke Nukem
Half Life
Commander Keen
Wacky Wheels
SuperKarts
Non subscription Nascar Racing simulation ( IE, Nascar Racing 2003 )

So many of the above and

Jade Empire
Kings Bounty
Age of Empires - not like the bug fest re-release they recently shoved out.
Elite - a proper single player game like promised in the Kickstarter and didnt allow refunds for many when it was cut!
X - space game, one that isnt more bugs than game.
I wish Far Cry continued like the very first one. that game hooked me so bad.

  • Pilotwings
  • Dead Space
  • Sanitarium
  • F-Zero
  • Star Fox
  • 4x4 Evolution (kind of niche, but I loved that game on Dreamcast and played it online a lot over dial-up)
  • Perfect Dark
  • The commander position in Battlefield games, lol

Agree with NOLF and Interstate 76.

1) Call me old fashioned but would love a modern version of Street Rod.
2) Sim-Series games like Sim-Earth, Sim-Ant, Sim-Tower and the like should have sequels or remakes. (There is a sorta like Sim-Tower game called Project Highrise though)
3) A MidWinter redone could be interesting.
4) The Epyx games series would be fun to be remade. (California games, Winter games and the like)
5) While they do have sims like it out now, a modern Gunship would be interesting imho. (Spent many, many hours playing it.)
6) Maybe a first person Pirates? Or a more modern upgraded remake of the remake.
7) Most don't remember it, but I'd personally like to see a Megafortress remake.

They need a redo of Midtown Madness.. cops and robbers with open maps on the lan was mad fun.

Bring back UT Bombing Run. Bombing Run w/ Arena maps is a much better Rocket League

BF 1942
TFC
Joint Operations
Dark Reign
Total Annihilation
Carmageddon
Wipeout2097 for PC with MITDR design team
FF8
Abes Exoddus (yeah they said they would but now doing a different leg of it)
Destruction Derby Raw
Red Faction(s) with more level destruction
Goldeneye could be fun too
Half-Life 2 (yeah ok there is a good mod update but something official)

Man, you guys really love shooters...

I don't think it's so much that we love shooters as it is that there hasn't been a good classic AAA shooter in many years aside from Doom I guess but I wouldn't count that. The closest we got was the unfinished UT remake that was making good progress until it got abandoned to get more of those sweet Fortnite dollars

This is what I've been longing for, and then we got the disappointment that was Quake: Champions, that was a huge letdown for me personally. I'd want a UT 2004/Quake 3 Arena remake. No gimmicks (perks or special abilities like QC), technical evasive movement, and no BS. Just raw fragging like the good old days.

None - These days almost every developer would put their spin on it and mess up the good memories.

Diablo 2, MOH:AA, UT99 and C&C:Generals are all my favorites - UT99 and D2 are already damaged, don't mess up the others.

Non-COD and PUB style shooters have kinda died, so I appreciate the desire to bring a few back.

Personally, I'd love a new Left 4 Dead game.

The Suffering
F.E.A.R.
Condemned
Medal of Honor (back to WWII roots, not the modern war crap)
SIN episodes
Thief (I liked the most recent version, they need to keep it going)

Others have already been said.

A new Condemned would make me giddy as hell. Those are the two scariest games of all time IMO. The ambient sound and jump moments were just so well done.
I'd even settle for a modern remake/reboot of the first one. A Condemned with graphics akin to Resident Evil 7 would make me unbelievably happy.

Agreed. The mall level with the mannequins was very well done and very creepy. I know the ip was up for sale a while back, I haven't seen if it's been bought yet or not.

Gran Turismo sport is an online multiplayer esports title. Whether I like it is besides point when the game doesn't even have a gran turismo mode. Those who want a career mode and a proper single player experience are completely left out to dry. You might as well say C&C isn't dead because there is a p2w mobile version that is still supported.

Rune. (Just a HD remake would be great)
Die By the Sword
Dungeon Keeper
Blur
Unreal Tournament
No One Lives Forever
1nsane
Hexen
Warcraft II
Command and Conquer Renegade
Quake
BF1942
Giants Citizen Kubato
Kameo
Primal Rage
MegaRace 3
Sopwith
Ducktales

Nolf and Fear are good ones, but I Fear (LOL) that Fear would be made too bland if they revived it. And Nolf is ripe to mess up if political correctness gets involved.
Unfortunately Max Payne was damaged beyond repair by rockstar for me. And after DNF, I'm not really interested in Duke Nukem.
Kotor or any Star Wars RPG would be good.

  • Pilotwings

Forgot about this one. There was a Pilot Wings title for the 3DS, but it was very underwhelming. Even then that was from 2011. Pilot Wings 64 was great and I spent many, many hours in it. That being said, you really had to create your own challenges and use your imagination to stretch the game out. I would drive from the New York City airport down to Florida to NASA without ever taking off in the gyro-copter. I'd drive around NYC in that thing. I've even driven cross country from Seattle, through the Grand Canyon area, into barns, through St. Louis, stopping at gas stations along the way to get more fuel. Never taking off. Fun times. I think there can easily be a market for an SP, sandbox, screw around yet simple type of flight game that is really accessible. Not sure if Nintendo is really interested in making one ever again though. In a lot of ways, PW64 was a tech demo.
