AC is too linear IMHO, haven't really enjoyed these games.

""These recent leaks are based on the original AC Kingdom leak from Kotaku itself. So some of it is true or not far off the truth. But mostly it's a bunch of educated guesses. as above, the final name isn't even Ragnarok."
We have no clue when Ubisoft will reveal the new game, but we do know the publisher is working on 9 major AAA games to release across the next two years.
We've speculated the viking-themed Assassin's Creed could be a launch game on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, repeating the original ACIV Black Flag's launch on PS4 and Xbox One."

An Assassin's Creed set in the 13th century and crammed full of Norse mythology sounds amazing. I don't even care that it'll be the usual bland Ubisoft open world design.

The last 2 instalments have been anything but linear imo. I’d actually rate Odessey as one of the best games I’ve ever played. There are so many different aspects to the game play. You can battle ships, fight major conflicts against multiple enemies. Battle bounty hunters and raid forts with multiple enemies. Fight huge mythical creatures. Honestly the game keeps on giving. I thought I’d never feel like this again after the Witcher 3. It is certainly nice to be surprised every now and again.

Origins and Odessey got away from a lot of the typical Ubi open world design. That said, I hope the next one pulls an Origins and reimagines the series a bit again. I really don't want Origins with a Norse skin, I'd rather they keep using AC to play with gameplay concepts.

Yup, there was not a single thing linear about the last two games. I accidentally beat Odessey without realizing it only being about 1/3 of the way through the story. I was just randomly going around exploring the world and accidentally completed a quest line I didn’t realizing was the end game story. Then went back and finished the character’s story. It is hard to remember that either games were assassin creed games and not just historical rpgs. You level up, spend skill points to get new skills and abilities. Upgrade weapons and armor. Explore a huge world with side quest. They have gotten away from the original game play style about a far as possible. Which is good and bad. Also means that the “current” day part of the story has just about went away with just a few minutes of progress on that side.

Origins and Odyssey took the bland open world gameplay template and expanded it tenfold, then copy pasted itself 100 times.
