Acer X27 4k 144hz HDR Gsync

It could absolutely use twice as many dimming zones, in my opinion. But you have to remember this is also still only a 27'' panel.

I don't have any pictures, but i'm pretty sure you can look at some reviews that will show you it. You don't really see the haloing if it isn't a scenario like you describe, whites on top / next to complete black.

this is the reason why Asus release the
PG27UQX with 576 zones.

In any case those monitors are not ready to be marketed, too few zones and fans, really? fans in a monitor?

New Asus PA32UCX have 1150 zones, that is a FALD monitor, not those ones :D

I turned off local dimming recently. I got tired of it dimming the corner of my various windows (black wallpaper), and actually changing the color tint slightly. I think they could have done a lot better job. Perfect task for AI and a camera pointed at the screen.

as I said, initially FALD was developed for HDR content only.
for a "real" FALD you need 1000 zones at least.

Nah, what I mean is they could have done a lot better job with the number of zones it currently has. Yeah, more zones more better, but that still wouldn't solve the fade and color shift in general. They need some AI calibration to best tune the parameters.

Yeah for gaming and movies and moving content it's fine. It's the static generated content that suffers. I wish there was a hard button for turning on and off, instead of nested menus and PC settings.

The problem you are reporting is pretty bad on that price range. I would be pretty disappointed.
Hope they will solve those problems soon.
