Better than OLED? Samsung researchers develope self-emissive QLED technology. Can I has now please!

In reality very few companies make panels. Samsung makes the majority of LCD / LED panels. I'm pretty sure he talking about the TVs and not just the panels. Sony does have OLED TVs.

Correct. But don't expect any vast differences, they all have the same panel.

Proving my point. Because that is what strobing does. :D

Sample and hold shows blur, just like real life.

Spin a bicycle wheel, and the spokes blur, put a strobe light on a spinning bicycle wheel, and you get momentary sharp image freezes of spokes.

People act like CRTs are the proper way to view the world because they were first. But no one would give two shits about strobing back lights if we never had CRTs.

Strobing backlights are not a recreation of reality, they are less realistic, attempt to recreate the CRT.

I mean, the most important part is that reality is not capped at 120 or 240hz or whatever, which is simply too low for humans. I'm pretty sure once we can reach 1000hz even a sample and hold display will be totally fine. I think blurbusters wrote about that. Gonna need some beefed up frame interpolation techniques though, something like an artefact-free ASW (the Oculus tech).

bUt peeplw cant see moar then 60Hz!!.!#,!

Nope. Sony has been out of the panel business for some time; they just hate Samsung enough to use LG OLEDs.

I'm pretty sure their PVM's/BVM's are their own. LG doesn't make RGB panels. They make RGBW. The BVM/PVM are RGB. So either they're Samsung or Sony...

I had a Panasonic 50" G20 plasma for almost a decade, I loved that tv. The only reason I replaced it was because the ARC HDMI port took a crap and I couldn't use my surround sound setup. Now replaced by a Sony A9F 65", and I could not be happier. Yes it uses an LG panel (as do all current OLED tv's as I understand it), but the Sony processor does a better job of picture processing. Put it this way, even my wife is impressed with the PQ, and she could give a shit lol!
