Resident Evil 3 (2020)

It's a remake I would care if it was a brand spanking new Resident Evil. I suppose the remakes do better for sales nostalgia wise.

Rumor is official announcement will happen at The Game Awards. Hopefully they're further along in development at this point than RE2make so we don't have to wait 5 years like that one.

Honestly can't wait, RE2 remake is my favorite game this year. Hopefully this game isn't rushed because of the reception RE2 received.
I nominated RE2 for game of the year on the Steam Awards ;).

I wasn't sure what to nominate because all the good stuff went to Epic this year it would of been Metro Exodus but I own the Epic version.

I have not heard of 80% of the games in that list, and the ones I have have not exactly been getting stellar reviews from gamers.

I'm not a fan of the Epic game store either might take another 1-2 years to be ideal.
I still bought 5 games off the thing...

Makes me wonder if they plan to remake RE4 next. They've repackaged it plenty of times, but it's still genuinely tough to go back to if you're used to more modern takes on 3rd person shooters. Yet at the same time it's probably still too modern to remake yet.

I would rather they remake Code Veronica first. Code Veronica is not only my favorite RE game of all time but one of my favorite games of all time.

I'd be more interested in RE8, 7 was fantastic... Keep that trend moving forward.

Yeah, I agree with that. I also liked 7 a lot and would welcome more of that storyline. As long as different teams are working on these projects, I don't really care if they remake the old games, too.
I have a feeling that RE8 is going to be tied to the PS5/Xbox4.

Hopefully with VR support again. RE7 was fantastic with VR. RIP Xbox 4.

RE 7 and RE2 Remake have propelled RE as a franchise from B-grade pseudo-horror shovelware to honestly one of the best Survival-Horror game series available (again).

I really hope lightning can strike thrice.

Capcom has been on a good streak the past few years for sure, as they seem to have did pretty good with the last DMC game, but I haven't played that yet. Given that they don't have a huge internal staff change or anything, I'd be pretty confident that they'll deliver on this remake as well. I'd definitely prefer another first-person RE8 game or something (esp. with VR, as I loved playing RE7 in VR), but I'll take anything they put out at this point, hah.

I’ve said it before but I’m going to say it again...I wish Capcom would start to license their engines out. If they have a good toolset I see no reason MTframework and RE Engine couldn’t compete with Unreal. Their games look great and run phenomenal.

Eh, don't forget about this upcoming masterpiece:

Seems like they are the only ones who can create a multiplatform engine that works well on everything. But I have a feeling that's because it's not very portable for more diverse gaming simulations. It certainly serves Capcom's niche well, though.

Related to Capcom's engines - they have also become a premier PC developer. Back in the late 90's and early 00's they were one of the worst. Yet ever since Lost Planet their stuff has been great. Good performance, lots of options to tweak, solid post-release support, and good audio/visuals.

Except for patching out DX10 from Resident Evil 5 for some reason. 5 freaking years after it came out... DX10 works perfect in Lost Planet, too, which uses the same engine, so:

I really wish they release some mod tools. I want to see what the mod community could come up with in the re world

I don’t know I’d say they used it for some rather diverse games. Starting with Dead Rising (only the first) and Lost Planet. Resident Evil (until 7), DMC4, Monster Hunter 3/World, Street Fighter, MvC, and Phoenix Wright. Mostly just seems to be missing Racing or FPS.

And since Lost Planet is when they started using MT Framework, and Lost Planet is a game way back in 06 or 07 that would utilize 8 threads.

Edit: realized earlier that RE Engine is also a good example of hitting different genres. RE7 is all first person, and also a stellar example of VR. RE2 is a stellar 3rd Person over the shoulder Action Horror game, and DMC5 is pure fast paced action. Still leaves out racing, but oh well.

I also agree. Resident Evil 2 remake is a tremendous game and is incredible and I welcome RE 3, and while I would love to see a Code Veronica remake next I do really want to see what a Resident Evil 8 would look like since RE7 isn't really continuable as far as I could tell in terms of story. I would like to see a return of Claire along with more of Chris, Leon and the other main characters.

lol those fucking CAUTION stickers on its trench coat

Like it being a 7 foot tall, 500 pound hulking ass bio-mutant with a rocket launcher and kielbasa sized veins doesn't make it obvious enough that it was born to fuck shit up

Man, I’ve been instructed to put orange cones around a hulking 80’ JLG boom lift to indicate caution before.....the lift itself is also orange as fuck. And beeps when it moves.
Redundancy is what it’s all about. Nemesis needs those caution stickers.

People are seriously having discussions about Nemesis's teeth and what is wrong with them. What the hell?

I wonder if they changed Jill's mini skirt

And how much you having camera control now impacted the decision...

Can't really tell because you can't see below her hips. They did give Claire full length jeans in the RE2 remake, though, while she wore shorts in the original. So I wouldn't be surprised. Regardless, no matter how you moved the game camera you couldn't see below the character's waist, anyway.

Yet rounder, still you can make a Jill Sandwich! I'm all in!

I never understood what he said until I saw it referenced on Youtube or something years later. I kept hearing him say "Jiffle" or "Jiggle" sandwich, lol.

Anyways, despite not being the biggest fan of RE3 even as a big RE fan as a kid, I look forward to this and will definitely be picking it up at launch.

Here's to Code Verionica in 2021! :p

I really hope they do CV next. I can't believe people are actually wanting a RE Re-remake, though. REmake is perfect, thank you.

Getting tired of the "invincible big bad guy chases you around the levels" in horror games. It's more annoying that fun at this point. Will probably wait for the modders to release a mod which gets rid of him, like they did with Mr X in the previous title.

RE2 was great until MR X showed up. After the police station hes easier to get rid of. But jesus what a pain in the ass.

Yeah I get that - just makes the pace of the game utterly relentless. Which I'm assuming was the point, but just winds up feeling like you're being rushed along because you can't get him off your dick for more than a minute.

The Nemesis was a major part of RE3. It's even in the title. I am curious how they handle him this time. He was tough to take down but you could take him down and even got a special reward for doing so in the original. Given how they handled Mr. X I have a feeling they will be changing it.

In interviews they said that Nemesis chases you in different ways. I have a feeling he will be smarter than Mr. X and it won't feel like he's on your dick all the time. That one scene in the trailer where he dropped through the ceiling looked real time, which is going to be real interesting to deal with. I don't know if my heart could take it, lol :dead:.

There were times in RE2 I wasn't sure my heart could take it, especially my first time on a B route. I just hope RE3 doesn't kill me before Cyberpunk 2077 comes out.
