DOOM 3 BFG Edition sale

The BFG Edition is the worst version of the first 3 Doom games on PC. I'd just buy the originals.

Heads up, you can get this on kinguin for less than 3 bucks, steam version.

Also how can a version that contains the old doom 1 and 2 wads and other stuff, be worse than.. I don't even. You are uninformed, sir.

I bought it almost 3 years ago on Steam for £6 with free Doom 1, Doom II and 3 versions of Doom 3 which are VR capable.
Doom 3 BFG is awesome in VR.
It works properly, you can reach a hand over an obstacle and shoot. You dont need to pop out from behind it.
I havent tried the other versions of Doom 3 yet (I forgot actually lol) so dont know how well they fare.

Doom and Doom 2 are censored, run in a different engine, and use bilinear filtering. You're better off buying the originals for $5 and using a good source port (GZDoom for modern conveniences or Chocolate Doom for the original experience).

The BFG edition of Doom 3 has better textures, proper widescreen support, and 120 FPS options. That is the good. The bad are nerfed difficulty, mainly due to the shoulder mounted flashlight, and weaker lighting effects. They also added a really annoying motion blur that can't be turned completely off. In my opinion, the bad outweigh the good. I'd rather get the originals and use my custom config file.

But it the only one not capped at 60 fps. Not sure if there's a fix for that, like the one for RAGE

It's funny. I bought it precisely because I was thought there's VR support. I remember Carmack was pitching it before he left id.

I only tried once but I couldn't make it run in VR mode on my old system. The best I managed was theater mode with horrible performance well below playable levels. Either I am an idiot or the Index is not supported.

There should be a lot more help to get it going now if you fancy trying again.

The Real BFG is in Rage 2 the way you get the gun is buy the deluxe edition and a Meteor flys though the sky and there is a impact crater with the BFG I haven't tried it myself.

BFG is a sort of Doom like game, that looks and plays like Doom 3, but if you played the original Doom 3, BFG is nothing like it. different engine, different lighting, different difficulty and some sounds are different. The original was based on jump scare out of darkeness. with no darkness, the game is meh..

I keep a capable XP computer just so I can play the original Doom 3 ( which I have owned since launch ) without needing any patching or tweaks. Wonder what it takes to get the original Doom 3 Steam version working on Win 10. Since it says not compatible, but is still sold on Steam but Steam no longer supports XP.

The original Doom 3 works just fine on Windows 10 without any additional patches or tweaking outside the usual autoexec setup. I still use the autoexec I created for my SLI 8800GTX PC (ultra everything, settings beyond menu limitations) 12 years ago, just modified for resolution.
