opinions on Phanteks Enthoo Primo cases?

I like this case, but it's pricey. It's a really important decision, :bookworm: since I will probably use this case for my next 2-3 builds, so I really want to know what you guys all think here.

Build quality? (some reviews on The Egg are very negative here)
Cable management?
Water cooling?
Ease of swapping out drives?
Do you like the fans that come with this case?
What other cases did you consider, and did you buy the Enthoo or the other case?

Any idea of what this name Enthoo is supposed to mean? :D
 
Been a while since I had it, but it was a good case, it is massive though I did not use it for watercooling so I can't realy comment on that, what I can say is that I had to remove the reservoir bracket in order to fit my GPU, but this might not be an issue if you watercool it but check to be sure.

I originally intended to buy a mid tower enthoo iirc the luxe model, but there were issues with availability so I changed to the primo (even got a small discount for my inconvenience as delivery of my original case always got delayed).

While it is not hard to swap drives, you do have to acces them from the right side and if that means moving the PC you are in for a treat as it is heavy (around 18 kg empty) even without watercooling stuff.

One of my main reasons for getting it was room for HDD's and optical drive and wanted something roomier then my corsair C70 vengeance.

One of the reasons I got rid of it was the size, once we moved to our new place I got a new desk and while the PC stil fit under it, with the front io beeing actually on top I could not use it anymore to due space constraints.

Not sure I would buy it in this day and age due to it's massive size (since I don't watercool) and the front io is a bit dated with only USB 2.0 and 3.0

As for the Enthoo might just be a play based on enthusiast

Guru3D did a review of this case which I probably consulted b4 buying it, as they say there are a couple of downsides to the case but all in all I quite liked it.

Thanks for this reply. Very helpful. I am interested in this case because it has 5 drive bays in front, as well as 6 internal drive mounts + mounts just for SSDs. Right now I have a Corsair 800D, which also has the same config, is about the same size and I do use 3 of the drive bays and 5 of the drive mounts. However, the 800D's front switch broke recently and Corsair no longer has spare parts available. The Corsair is also pretty heavy with all the drives, so I built a "rollerskate" so I can slide the case around.

I agree it's an issue that there is only USB 2 and 3, and nothing better/faster. I recently bought a Silverstone memory card reader that has more USB 3 ports and a charging port, but I still don't have a solution for USB C unless I get an adapter card.

So I'm still open to alternatives.
 
The Primo was a great case. I'm still rocking mine but I might switch to the Luxe 2 or 719 as its renamed to now.

With the Primo, it's supported thru quad/tri gpu setups, dual psu, dual 480mm rad before it was a thing with cases today. And btw that's dual psu and dual 480 rad.
