Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2019

Welcome to the world of P2P networking and FPS multiplayer shooters.

It’s not P2P. MW uses dedicated servers from everything I’ve read. It may not have a server browser but that doesn’t mean the games are hosted on a players computer. I think private matches are the only ones where the party host is hosting the match.

Don't know about you but I shed a tear when the robot sacrificed his life at the end =(.

He's the only character you can even remotely give a crap about and even then, the game's too short to be all that invested in it.

Robot..? You mean Alex, the CIA guy?

So I got the game working again after blowing away the data directory and re-downloading the 109GBs again to replace it over the course of a day and beat it last night. Went online for a handful of matches and generally got murdered, though I did have a couple positive KD rounds on Ground War and Team DM, one of which my whole team left the server leaving me on a 1 on 6 match that never rebalanced, hah. Not sure I'll keep playing online much unless my son wants to play come Coop with me or something. I'll be playing Death Stranding soon and not sure I'll be coming back to this again after that.

Oh, and I just went to login to Battlenet and got this:

Lol.. some amateur hour game client stuff there.. certainly never seen that in Steam or the few other launchers I have.

He was talking about Ethan from Call of Duty Infinite Warfare.

Ahh, ok.. I've heard good things about the campaign in that game too. Looking it up on Steam.. how dafuq is this game still $60 3 years after release?! I thought only Nintendo could command prices like that, that long after a game's release, lol.

Edit: Damn, Black OPs 2 from 2012 is $60 too.. Activision is high.

The single player campaign is pretty good, but the ending feels a bit forced. It is a great game play experience though. I'd recommend it, but not at $60. I got it with CoD4:MW Remastered for about $40 if I recall correctly. It was heavily discounted shortly after release. It is probably the worst performing CoD launch to date.

today's patch f'd up the missions for me. they won't track and they keep automatically deselecting. it's a known problem but still a bummer. also the reticle unlock for the halo sight is bugged for me as well. it won't unlock even though i have the required kills. small annoyances i suppose.

Seems like a bad patch overall. Haven't tried it save for two rounds of hardcore TDM yesterday. Outside of Realism being gone personally I didn't see anything amiss.

One thing I hate is that you can't view what attachments are coming up for weapon unlocks. If you press 2 you can see the next 5, but say my weapon is level 25 and I want to know what unlocks at level 30-60.

Man, I don't know how some players do it. The moment I round a corner someone is there with sights on me. Any time a player sees me first, its game over. I don't even have a chance to fire.

Weird thing too is, if I do fire, I'll knock off like six rounds. On the kill cam, it shows me getting one off. Weird.

This happens but after the 2nd last patch it was vastly improved for me. I started getting consistent 1.5-2.5 KDR in TDM. I find the M4 and MCX to be the easiest weapons to use. I tried Hardcore and while nice, it has all of the HUD fluff and I don't think the lower HP and lower TTK is good for the recoil system. Damage/player HP is similar to BF4 hardcore which I play a lot, but in BF4 weapons still require more precise aiming so it works. In this game in hardcore it is far easier to raise your sights and instantly kill someone while they run a short distance between cover. I'm not sure how I feel about friendly fire in hardcore either. Again in BF4, weapons were more precise and controller bursts or rapid semi auto is what you did unless you rounded a corner real quick. In this game there is a lot more spraying which means team kills can be a bit more common.

Realism didn't have the HUD fluff which I found awkward that Hardcore does.

Holy nuts that is insane to have a waiting line they need to buy some more servers.

Activision seem hold CoD games on a high pedestal and rarely discounts CoD games even after years. You might catch it for half off here and there.

Swapped from the M4 to the AUG. First in score three games in a row. wow. That's never happened...in my life.

Both are good guns; the M4 is excellent when fully kitted. The AUG is unique since it's an SMG that hits hard and has some range to it, but without giving up too much in the rate of fire department. I like it, though I can see why others prefer the MP5/MP7.

Right now, the PKM seems to be where it's at. Very controllable even at near full auto, drops enemies dead fast, and ADS isn't atrocious even though it's an LMG. In larger maps, I think it's the best gun in the game bar none right now.

EDIT

I do note I love the crossplay; I can play with my xbox buddies, and at least now I'm loosing gunfights because I'm old and slow (at 34 lol) and not because I can't get sights on people.

I unlocked the AK last night so I'm going to work on kitting that out next. Been doing decent with it.

I'm old too (33, nearly 34 ;) ) but I can't use any LMG to save my life. A fully kitted M4 or mp5 is my "go-to" primary, though half the time I'm just running around with my 1911 - it's awesome on hardcore.

I like the M4 and MCX the best. MCX works great for close quarters, but if you want longer range go to the M4. Just got the SCAR H and it hardcore it is good. Have not tried it in regular yet.

This game went from horrible to decent with the patches. But it seems to vary a lot for hit detection/lag/insert technical issue here. Some games you die the moment your arm sticks out, others you don't. Sometimes it really feels like you get hit, run behind cover, and then die half a second later but don't hear or see any other shots. And other players are instantly killing you with one shot (even in realism or regular). Other games things look normal and if you die it is because you missed or simply weren't paying attention but the other times there certainly seems to be something up.

At first I thought it had to do more with cross play but I don't see that being much of a factor the more I play. Still far better than release day, which was unacceptable.

Ive had that issue since they pushed the 7gb update. My fix, has been to rolled back to nvidia drivers 440.97, and in game turn my render resolution down to 90%, then reload shaders.
Same here WTF

The PKM is insanely stable; my KDR jumps whenever I break it out.

I still have fun when I login but only two Maps for Battlegrounds is going to get pretty stale.
I haven't even played the other game modes since I'm sure they are all
cramped maps I like Battlegrounds though.

lol, because claymores ruin the entire game. Literally every moment, whether claymores are involved or not, is utterly pointless now. /s
Claymores have no bearing on my enjoyment of this game. I always get an outward explosion of joy when I play it.

I don't mind some type of explosives but I don't think Claymores fit well in TDM style games. I think for BF Conquest and MW Warfare they fit in okay, but I detest them in TDM. Especially because the maps are small and you need to move around a bit to keep mobile. Besides, real claymores aren't like landlines anyways like they are in these games. They're command detonated which means someone has to set one off manually and they shoot dozens of small projectiles. Essentially a giant shotgun placed on the ground. In these games, they're set and forget explosive landmines. A "proper" claymore would make more sense in the TDM style modes. IMO.

Ah....real claymores are rarely if ever "command" detonated. They use a trip wire based system, which is not too dis similar to how they are used in this game.

i haven't played a COD in a number of years, the last one i tried was that infinite warfare BS with the wall jumping that had me rolling my eyes and didn't spend much time in the game. but i received this with my new gpu so wondering - is it fun? is the campaign worth a shit? i feel like i've gotten to that point in my mid 30's that multiplayer shooters spike my blood pressure in a bad way :ROFLMAO:

Like when its 1130 at night and you've been telling yourself one more win then I'm going to bed for the past two hours?

Well a few days after posting this, Infinite Warfare is on sale on Steam for $20. Worth it for the campaign only?

I am enjoying the game, but it needs more hardcore modes. I see things like 10v10 and 20v20 and ground war and wish they were hardcore. I suck to much to play regular, takes to long ti kill someone lol.

The quick play filter thing is kind of a mess, every time I exit it it likes to reset everything to on, at least with all the non hardcore stuff which I want off.

Thank god, and praying they balance these damn shotguns. Havent played in a few days. Went back to ole trusty BF4.

So I noticed there are a lot more than 6 TDM maps when I play in regular mode. Why aren't they all available in hardcore? Balance problems?

the 725 is the only one that pisses me off. I’m fine with the rest.

Yeah TDM has a few maps that aren’t available in the other modes. I wish they would filter them to the other modes because I really prefer objective-based game modes. I play TDM maybe 5% of the time, and it’s usually only in hopes of playing on a map I don’t typically get to play on.

So, hows the update with the claymore nerf? Any better? Still deciding if installing this game is worth the 129GB of space while I try to finish Outer Worlds
