InWin presents "Alice" a new take on PC cases

It looks like the PSU is behind a wall, separate chamber from the bottom intake fans are. So it gets no airflow from them, and the sideways orientation would place right between the outside and inside walls, with little gap. Meaning the intake fan must pull air from outside through the fabric.

I dig. However the "Floor" under the PSU is wide open, no fans but easy air access.

That's looks like a very small gap, if the outside wall is solid.

But that's the least of my many issues with this abomination. Too Large, Too ugly, with poor acoustics, and it looks like the cable routing will be kind of a mess.

I wouldn't even expect better than average performance. Bottom to top (AKA chimney effect) airflow is nonsense once fans enter the picture. The reason Silverstone cases do so well in this arrangement is multiple monster 180mm intake fans. This only has 3x120. You can do that in a more compact, better looking, better sound damped case.

The only thing going for this, is if you actually like the aesthetics of a big fabric covered case.

One more thing..

The airflow does seem to be bottom to top, so the fabric might not be designed to let air thru at all.

Still. $55 and could be an interesting foundation to experiment with.

There are only couple reviews on amazon, but one said the mesh "sock" as he called it was pretty thin and air could through. Also said this = "*bottom of the "sock" is a more open mesh that acts like a filter and has cut outs for the legs" so maybe it's meshier on the bottom where all the airflow is?

For $55 maybe, like the reviews say it's a good test bench case. I could see this going on sale for $35.

The "grey" lid ones are sold out even on Inwin site, but they might have some of the "orange" top in stock for $57. At that price...meh....

Also it doesn't say where to get more fabric socks... but the opportunity is there to make whatever kind of design you want as long as it's breathable fabric, I guess. Think sport team logos, bands, etc. I don't think a cotton t-shirt would breathe enough but who knows. All I know is, you better have some quiet ass fans because there is nothing to help with sound levels.

This design is kinda cool, but it doesn't say where you can get it. Looks cool with the blue LEDs =

Did someone have bulk plastic crates to get rid of and inWin said, sure, we'll take those off your hands.
Snip some of the bars off, bond a flat sheet to the frame, and whala, PC case......

I'm beginning to think they were ready to jump into the cheap lampshade market, then someone on the BoD questioned that decision, stating that InWin makes PC Chassis.

To which the reply from all the other BoDs was:

It looks ridiculously cheap to manufacture but I don't see any other redeeming qualities unless you count the gimmick factor as a feature.

I'm curious whether they actually believed it would do well or if they just had to see if they could convince people to buy a gussied up milk crate at normal case prices.

I like it. dunno if it fits with my aesthetic but I can think of a couple friends who have been asking me for custom builds, who might be interested. People with fabric skillz could do cool things with this form factor! and I unironically like how trashy it is lol

My Orange Shag Carpet will cut the airflow off the bottom of this case with ease.

To be honest, my regular computer I ended up placing sideways because I have to access the back quite s bit, so then I ended up with poor access to both the front and the back.
Becuase its now sideways behind the monitor, now accessing the inside is a pain in the ass.
Its just poor access to my pc all around.
Having this ass upwards computer will take care a lot of that, plus having the sides being a skirt I can just pull up, will also take care of internal access.
Should be pleasant I think

You just shake off the filter that covers it and throw it in the coin laundry station at your apartment complex.

And then they turn out wrinkled, shrunk and most importantly pink when you forget to realize that your girlfriend's red panties got thrown in too.

apparently these types of designs are popular in china so this is probably just them seeing if they follow the same trend outside of that market.

Probably would be a success if it wasn't so huge. I really don't get the size here as obviously they were aiming for the cute factor.

I've always wanted a PC that looked like a dustbin! :/

See, it's all heavily dependent on use case. If it works for you, cool, tell us all about it.

Until then, I remain skeptical and will possibly believe the following:

However, paying 55 dollars for the framework of a computer chassis (without walls) sounds more like a ripoff to me than a savings. Just wait until we find out everything has to be mounted with proprietary mounting hardware that is not included...

Good airflow maybe cuts down on weight but trying to transport it might risk the internals.

I don't think the case is designed for this crowd.

I don't really like the little trend of adding texture or textiles to tech products but apparently, it's a thing.

I want to know what dust free city these industrial designers live in...

Both this case and the OP case look like cat scratching posts to me. With a cat, a kitten, and another potential kitten on the way, all I can see is yet another computer object to attract unwanted attention to. Then again, maybe they'd stay away from my wife's computer monitor. Decisions, decisions...

That's actually a pair of active speakers, but I agree.

So they combined a lamp shade with a computer case... ok I guess.
